Arielle Shore
Oh there goes that wonderful smile again, Maria thought in an almost lovesick manner, wishing she would get a grip at the moment. She nodded in agreement that the tour was fun and she knew for a fact that coming there everyday after school would be an adventure.
As they were heading back downstairs, Maria wondered what was going on through Dimitri's head as he was mounting the banister. Looking back at Dimitri not only made her heart flutter, but she soon was filled with worry. What if he fell and hurt himself? That wouldn't have been good at all. However, seeing the delighted look on his face only calmed her down just a bit before she followed him down on the steps.
Arielle turned to see what was going on after Kedrick escorted her to the couch. From what she could see, the two boys were once again acting goofy. She could only assume that Dimitri had come down the steps from the banister, seeing that he had not come down on the steps. Plus, she was able to catch a brief glimpse of him on the banister before Kedrick went over to him.
"It's just natural of boys to show off," Maria said with a small smile and shrug, coming down the rest of the steps. "My two older brothers did that a lot with some of my cousins before they went off to college. But I'm glad the big child is alright. Need help getting up chico?"
Arielle nodded, making herself even more comfortable to prove her point. "Yes, very. I feel like I could sleep on this couch instead."

"Alright, alright. I won't fall asleep," Arielle said with a small smile, giggling when Dimitri poked her forehead. "I'll make sure to stay wide awake so you can all get to say goodnight and goodbye to me."
Maria walked in behind the boys and smiled at everything. She almost didn't want to go home yet. She just wanted to stay with Arielle, Kedrick, and definitely Dimitri. She still had to take her things and put them in the car, then being in the car for about forty-five minutes before being home and taking everything out. At least everything's washed, she thought with a sigh of relief before remembering something out of the blue.
"Arielle, I think I have something wonderful to tell you that I've kept forgetting," Maria said slowly, trying to get everything back into her memory.
Arielle looked at her friend curiously, wondering what exactly she was talking about. "What is it, Maria?"
"I think you're going to love this. Remember the Hispanic bakery my one aunt owns? Well, I was able to see if there were any positions that you could work at. And since you're such a wonderful cook, I knew the bakery would be a great place for you to work at. Not only that, but my aunt is willing to hire you as soon as you're ready to work again. And we can work together all the time," Maria said in a very excited fashion, feeling a bit upset at herself for continuously forgetting something as important as that.
Arielle looked shocked at first, really not believing anything that Maria said, but the more she let the world settle in, the more she believed her. "Oh Maria. You really are the best friend a girl could ask for," Arielle said happily, surprised she had slipped into Spanish. Arielle wasn't as fluent as Maria, but she was still working on it and spending most of her life in Spanish classes really helped out. Also, when she was really excited, she would slip into Spanish, but the occasion was usually rare regardless.
Maria giggled, walking over to Arielle and sitting next down to her, giving her a hug. "I knew you would like the news, Ari," Maria responded in Spanish before going back to English, "But that was what I wanted to tell you. Now I have to get ready to go home. The ride will be a long one and I still have all this stuff to put back into my car."

"Thanks Dimitri," Arielle said with a cheerful smile, "I'll definitely look forward to it. Plus, the treats there are really something. I used to visit her family's bakery everyday after school when we were younger, but then I... I just kinda stopped visiting." She seemed almost distant when she said that, remembering the real reason why she stopped going there less and less. All because of Jonesy and his disgusting schemes. She felt like she had stopped doing a lot of things since then, but now that everything was over, she could slowly go back to some of the things she used to enjoy.
Maria felt Dimitri's eyes on her and once again that day she couldn't help but feel her heart race. She willed herself to not let any forms of pink or red appear on her face. When he offered to help her take her things to the car, she resisted the urge to nod cheerfully. "Thanks Dimitri. I'd really appreciate that," Maria said with a sweet smile.

♟♞ ♝ ♜ ♛ Ҝәɖʁϊϲҝ Ś. Śűѿą & Ďȋɱȋŧʁȋ Ĵ. ᾟűηŧȇʁ ♛ ♜ ♝ ♞ ♟ Kedrick smiled slightly, ducking his head. "Okay, night Maria, take care." He said with a smile, sitting down on the couch next to Arielle. He gently wrapped an arm around her should, giving her a gentle squeeze. "And don't fret about Arielle, I'll take good care of her." He said with a smile. Dimitri walked into the kitchen before Maria, picking up the bulk of the material that needed to move. It was easier now that Maria had used at lot of the ingredients, there wasn't as much to carry. "How I didn't leave more than you could handle." He called to Maria in a sing-song voice, clearly teasing her as he walked out the door. It was no problem getting down the porch stairs, but getting Maria's car door open presented a problem. He squirmed slightly, trying to shift his arm load to give himself a free hand, but soon he found that it was impossible to get a free hand and keep everything balanced at the same time. "Uhhh...." He looked around, bracing his feet slightly. "A little help maybe?" He called, his voice loud enough to reach into the house. Kedrick's head snapped up and he looked at the door. "Uh oh, looks like Dimitri ran into some trouble." He said, smiling over at Arielle and kissing her temple gently. "I'll be right back." He said, and stood up, hurrying out the door. "Okay, okay! I'm comming!" He called, almost slipping on the front steps as he ran to open the car door. "About time." Dimitri said with a smirk, loading the supplies into the back with Kedrick's help. He sighed softly, looking up to see if Maria had found her way outside yet with the rest of her cooking stuff.

"Good night Kedrick," Maria replied, a soft smile still on her face, "And I know you will. Why do you think I left her in your charge?" Her smile grinned and she saw Arielle giggle at her little comment before following behind Dimitri in the kitchen. She rolled her eyes in a playful manner and hurried up to take the rest of her things since Dimitri was already out the door without her. She hurried herself along, making sure not to drop anything while she made her trip to the car. When she got outside, she carefully took out her keys and unlocked the door so that Dimitri could put the stuff in before walking over to her car.
Before Arielle could get too comfortable with Kedrick on the couch, his assistance was already needed from Dimitri. She smiled as Kedrick got up and nodded in understanding. "Good luck on your quest Sir Kedrick," Arielle said with a small wave as Kedrick left. She then stretched out on the couch and laid her head on the one arm and let her eyes close. She wasn't falling asleep, she was just relaxing and enjoying the serene peace in the living room.
"And this is what happens when you take more than you can handle," Maria teased after Kedrick came out to help them. She sat her things neatly in the back and made sure they were all secured before she readied herself to go home. She turned to the two boys and smiled at them. "Thanks so much for helping me out with everything. You boys have a great night and I'll see you both tomorrow."

"Thanks Kedrick," Maria said, "I'll make sure to drive and stay in the driving limit. In fact, I'll even drive extra slow so that I can be overly cautious." She grinned, feeling proud of herself for her own joke, even if it probably wasn't the funniest thing ever. She noticed that he was laughing himself, but something told her it had nothing to do with what she said. She wanted to ask what he meant before she heard Dimitri talk to her, and even then what Dimitri said, no matter what it was, became that more important.
She listened to him and almost wished she didn't have to go, and at the same time, she wished that she could've said her final "Good Night" with just only Dimitri. Even though it was highly unlikely that he would kiss her or anything of the sort, some part of her still desired that for some strange reason. She felt herself smile when he reminded her about tomorrow's "meeting" and lightly punched him in the shoulder, a light blush tainting her own cheeks. "Don't worry, I won't forget. Good night fellas." She gave them one last wave before getting in her car and driving on back home.
Arielle sat up, hearing the sound of Maria's car drive off and waved almost as if she could still see her. It would be strange not being in school for awhile and probably even more strange or even awkward when she had to go back and deal with all of her peers again. They'll all know by then, Arielle thought with a small sigh, trying not to think much of it, but tried to think of something more pleasant. Even with that goal in mind, thoughts about being interviewed by the police about what happened worried her, and she wondered about going to court as well. Trying not to delve deeper into those troubling thoughts, Arielle laid back down and closed her eyes for a few seconds before looking up at the ceiling, waiting for the boys to come back.

♟♞ ♝ ♜ ♛ Ҝәɖʁϊϲҝ Ś. Śűѿą & Ďȋɱȋŧʁȋ Ĵ. ᾟűηŧȇʁ ♛ ♜ ♝ ♞ ♟ Dimitri waved as Maria drove off, a small smile still lingering on his lips. As he lowered his hand, Dimitri caught sight of his watch. "Oh holy cow!" He said, holding his watch closer to his eyes. "It's that late? I'm never going to have enough time to finish all my homework and sleep!" He said, running his fingers though his dark hair. Kedrick smiled. "A bit behind?" He asked with a smile. and Dimitri nodded emphatically. "yeah, no kidding, okay...uhh..." He paused a moment, thinking and then cupped his hands around his mouth, calling towards the open door. "Arielle!" He yell, loud enough for his voice to carry to her. "I've got to go! Have homework! See you tomorrow maybe?" He called, and then dropped his hands to his sides, opening the car door. Kedrick reached out, tapping Dimitri's shoulder to stop him. "Hey Dem, one more quick thing." He said as Dimitri turned around to face him. "Uh...How...How do you really feel about Maria? I mean honesty?" he asked anxiously. Dimitri's face lit up like Kedrick had never seen it before. "Ah Kedrick!" He sighed, flopping to the drivers seat of his car so he was half lying down. "She the most, I mean she...I don't know how to put it but..." He paused sightly, sitting up and siding into a regular position. "I-I do, I do care about her, ." He said with a smile. "I mean...I hate to sound shallow, but I think I love her!" He said, beaming. Kedrick nodded slightly, a small frown appearing between his brows. "Okay...that's good, she seems very interested in you." He said in a matter of fact tone. Dimitri blinked. "Oh? What do you mean?" He asked, his face alight, missing the look of concern on his friends face. Kedrick sighed softly. "She asked about you. About why you had been staying with me." Kedrick raised a finger to forestall any hasty thoughts on Dimitri's end. "And I covered for you. But I want to get one thing straight," He said, leaning on the car door. "I hate lying to her. I've come to care for Maria as Arielle's friend as well as mine, and if you care for her, you need to get a move on and tell her the truth so I won't have to lie for you again." He said sharply. Dimitri blanched, looking though the open car window at Kedrick. "What?" He asked, his voice hoarse. "Tell her. Soon." Kedrick enunciated firmly. Dimitri shook his head sharply. "N-no, I can't.." He said, trying to picture Maria's face if she ever found out. What would it be? Fear? Anger? disgust? Dimitri shook his head again. "I'm never telling her...If I did...She'd hate me..." He said, his voice lowering to a whisper. Suddenly, he rolled up the window, and backed out of the driveway. "D- Dimitri wait!" He called after him, but it was too late.

Arielle Shore
For the second time that evening, Arielle sat up from her relaxed position on the couch. The reason for that this time was because Dimitri was saying goodbye to her. Not wanting to miss the opportunity to wish her good friend goodbye, she stretched, being mindful of the stitches on her stomach and got up from the couch. Standing up so quickly from her position made her feel somewhat dizzy and she had to make sure that she didn't fall on the ground. When she felt like she could handle walking, she left the living room and headed out the door.
As soon as she took one step outside, she was able to hear Kedrick calling out for Dimitri to wait, even though Dimitri's car was already driving away from the estate. Curious as to know what happened, Arielle walked over to Kedrick, looking at him with concerned eyes. "Kedrick...," was all she was able to get out, not knowing what to say or ask besides just saying his name, the concern being heard in her voice.

Kedrick sighed in frustration, running his fingers sharply though his hair, pausing about half way though the gesture, his hand still gripping the top of his head. He looked over at Arielle who was standing on the porch. "Nothing, Dimitri is just being an idiot!" He sanapped, walking over to the porch and stopping at the steps. He sighed softly, realizing that he had let his frustration get the better of him. Dimitri may have been an idiot, but it was because he was scared and Kedrick was beginning to see that maybe he had been the tactless one. He looked up at Arielle, his voice softening, eyes apologetic. "I'm sorry, " He said gently. "I was frustrated....Come on inside, I'll tell you what happened..." Kedrick stepped up onto the porch, touching Arielle back and guiding her into the house.

Arielle jumped, surprised at his outburst. She had never heard him raise his voice like that ever since she moved in, so she was very startled by that. Also, taking in what he said about Dimitri, she had a feeling that something disagreeable happened before Dimitri drove off. When Kedrick calmed down, Arielle didn't say anything, giving him the time to say what he needed to say. As they walked back into the house, Arielle laid her head against him and let out a small sigh. "It's alright, Kedrick. Stuff like this always happens," Arielle said, accepting his apology, "Mind telling me when I cut your hair? Or would you rather say so now?"

Ҝәɖʁϊϲҝ Ś. Śűѿą ♛ ♜ ♝ ♞ ♟ Always...
Kedrick smiled slightly as she laid her head on his shoulder. He felt terrible about snapping like that, but it had been a long, hard week, and it was good to know he was forgiven. "Nah, It's okay, I'll get the stuff." He said softly, still wanting to apologize again for his outburst.
When they reached the foyer, Kedrick walked over to where he had left the hair cutting supplies. He picked up the box, briefly riffling though it's contents to make sure everything was there. Kedrick stepped into the kitchen, pulling one of the chairs away from the table, unfolding the apron. He felt kind of silly fastening the long, cape like apron around his neck, but he supposed it couldn't be helped and sat down, holding out the box to Arielle. "Here you go..." He said softly, his voice gentle. Kedrick breathed a soft sigh, trying to find the right words to describe what had happened. "While Dimitri was looking around the house, and you where upstairs sleeping, I was down in the kitchen helping Maria with dinner...She asked me about Dimitri, about why he had stayed with me." He frowned slightly, looking down at his feet and then remembering to keep his head straight so Arielle could work on him. "Years ago, while Dimitri was here, we came up with a story, in case anyone ever asked. It wasn't really a lie...kind of a half truth..." He explained uncertainly. "The story was that Dimitri's mom had some renovation work done on the house, and Dimitri didn't like all the noise and strangers, and so on and so forth so his mom let him stay here... that much was true, but you also know that that's not all..." Kedrick paused slightly, then resumed after collecting his thoughts. "I couldn't tell Maria what had actually happened...it wasn't my place, and besides, I couldn't do that to Dimitri again, so I covered for him, used the old story we had made up for cases like this...but...I didn't like lying to Maria, so later, right before he left, I asked him how he really felt about her...he told me he loved her, and I said that he should tell her..you know, the truth..." Kedrick sighed softly, knowing that this was where it all went down hill. "He got scared, He always dose when ever someone comes close to finding out...Dimitri said he wasn't ever going to tell her, that he was afraid she'd hate him. I know she wouldn't...I tried to tell him but he drove away, I guess I was upset that he hadn't even stopped to listen to me...but I shouldn't have pushed him the way I did, I forgot how much talking about it freaked him out..." He said, now feeling guilty as well.

"Okay," Arielle said with a light nod, messing with his hair again, "Time to work on this hair now. By the time I'm done, you're going to look absolutely wonderful. Not like you don't look like that now." She smiled, trying to make light of things and keeping a light positive mood as well.
Arielle followed Kedrick as he was getting stuff ready, not saying anything until he was ready to talk. Instead, she looked at his hair, trying to figure out how much to cut without turning it into a brand new look. When he was finished getting himself ready, Arielle thanked him for the box before sitting it down on the table, having her own look at the contents and taking out the scissors and a comb. While Kedrick explained everything, Arielle took her time with cutting his hair, being very careful but still doing a well enough job. As she processed the information, she remembered when Kedrick had told her about Dimitri's past and how mad Dimitri was at him for that, even though things were a lot better. With the news that Dimitri was falling for Maria, she could understand why he would be concerned and she wished that she could go and help him feel better.
"I don't blame him for acting like that," Arielle said after a minute or two of silence, "I would have done the same thing if it was me. In fact," Arielle said, pausing and stopping what she was doing for the time being, "Had Jonesy never called, I don't think you would've known about everything the way you did. I probably would have just kept it hidden and hoped that you would have never found out... I mean... I know you were probably curious on how a girl like me ended up in such a place like the Pet Shop and you had even asked me once... But... It's never really easy to explain to people just what happened to you before you knew them.... Because... There's always that fear... A fear that they'd think differently of you... Cast you away and make you feel alone... Make you hate yourself even though not everything is your fault..." She stopped there for a few seconds, having gone back to cutting more of his hair that needed to be cut, still being careful on areas that she needed to be careful on. "But just give him some time. Everyone needs time for something such as this. Plus, Maria would be absolutely understanding of him, no matter how scared he was of how she would react. Especially since she had to go through the same thing with me. You did what you could Kedrick, but now it's time for everything else to fall in place."
Arielle didn't say everything after that, just continued on with her work. As she finished, she combed out Kedrick's hair and felt proud of herself. Kedrick's hair, even though it still was the same exact style, had been trim at the edges where needed and was a lot cleaner than before. She pulled out the mirror and handed it to Kedrick, now feeling a bit anxious about how she did. "Does this meet your approval, Kedrick?"
