My first day in the vet tech program at school starts tomorrow. I'm really nervous. D: It's going to be so much different from before -- the tech program is at the animal shelter instead of the Pima campus. There will be a LOT less people there that I know ... a lot of my friends from school aren't in tech yet. D: Plus there will be no break room that I know of, so no vending machines, and also no AM PM next door to walk to while on break for a snack. We'll have a lot of animals to work with, so that will be good ... but I'm so scared. ;o; It's also further away so it'll take me longer to get there. So I'll have to get up earlier in order to leave earlier... GAH!! I'm supposed to be excited, but I'm just scared instead. =(

It's ok to be nervous, Nuclear Bananna! Just don't get a worked up as I did when I started my most recent job (5 1/2 yrs ago). Got so worked up I passed out in the shower the day before I had to start and screwed myself up so bad I could start work til 3 months later! About took out my left eye on the faucet, had a giant goose-egg lump on my left shoulder and wracked my left knee backwards.
Anyway, nerves are ok-- it is part of the excitement-- just doesn't feel like it!!!!! You'll do great! Sounds like you've had training and this is fieldwork. Correct?

Not exactly. It's still more training and schoolwork, but more hands on than the assistant program. It's a career college, so it works differently than other schools, but I signed up for the vet tech program. I had to go through the vet assistant program first, which is mostly bookwork and a little hands on, but it's like the foundation of the program and they go more in depth in the tech program. I'm not really sure what to expect, but I know it'll be harder. I guess I just am not very fond of change.
And oh my gosh, that's a horrible thing to have happen to you, especially right before a new job!

I will certainly agree that change does suck, but it keeps life interesting! At least you aren't walking into it completely without prior knowledge.
But, hey, you've got all these "llamas" cheering you on, so of course you'll do great!
