Ryou, once again, felt terrible. He had just apologized to her-- couldn't he have waited to bring that up? No. His conscious would have been so guilty. He sat down heavily on the couch, lacking the strength to face her again.
"Rei!" Sora came jogging up, as soon as she got out of the door. "We've got a new person! And she's a maid!" He sounded rather excited about that part. "D'you think she'll clean for us?"

Inuyasha didn't take Mikuru to each room, but he did bring her to each floor, and told her what was on it. When the tour was done, he brought her back to the original floor. "I'm gonna go see if Sora wants to do anything. And I don't know where Riku could've gone off to, but you'll meet him sooner or later." Inuyasha assured her. She was a quiet thing, but he didn't mind. It just let him talk more. "Anyway, you can look around some more, or find the others."
Mikuru watched as he bounced-- literally bounced--away, and then she smoothed down her skirts a little. She managed to find her way back to the room that Rei had been in, and was surprised to find the girl nowhere in sight. Ryou was there instead, his face hidden in a pillow. She hurried over, a little worried. "Ryou?" She touched his shoulder, making sure he wasn't unconscious or anything. "Are you okay?"
"I think I just screwed everything up..." Ryou muttered, lifting his head a little. He wasn't exactly talking to Mikuru, but she had asked. "Doesn't matter. I wouldn't have been allowed to stay anyway." He wasn't looking at Mikuru; he just stared off into space as he spoke. She looked rather nervous at that.
"You don't look well." Mikuru said in a somewhat firm voice. She grabbed Ryou's arm and got him to his feet. "I'm going to make you some tea, okay? Kyon says I'm good at making tea." She paused, looking thoughtful. "This place does have all the supplies, right?"

Sora and Riku had gone off to spar, and Mikuru had gotten herself lost among all the books in the library. She wasn't as big of a reader as her friend, Yuki, but it was something to pass the time. Besides, Ryou seemed to want to be avoiding people. She didn't want to interfere-- clearly she had stumbled across an argument.
Inuyasha was bored out of his mind. Sora had gone off somewhere with Riku, so he didn't have anybody to fight with. He poked his head into each room as he passed by, looking for one of the other occupants of the house. They seemed to have scattered, which made it harder for Inuyasha to locate them all. He finally came across Ryou, who was sitting in one of the living rooms, curled up on a couch and probably asleep. Inuyasha didn't care, and launched himself across the room, plopping down next to the kid. Ryou jumped-- clearly not asleep-- and Inuyasha gave him a wide grin. "Why so down, kid? God, everyone's depressed here."
"Please leave me alone, Inuyasha." Ryou sighed, scooting away from the demi demon. Inuyasha continued to pester him, and it became clear to Ryou that he wasn't going to leave until he got what he wanted. "Look, it's... It's just problems with this girl, okay? You really don't need to know."
Inuyasha snorted loudly, and Ryou flushed deeply, burying his face into a pillow, hoping that when he looked up, Inuyasha would just be gone. Inuyasha glanced down at the kid with uncertainty-- he was too easily embarrassed. "Hey, don't worry. I think everyone has something like that. Hell, I could go on talking for hours to explain to you what I've had to go through." He said, in a softer voice. "So what's going on with you? Is it something about Rei?"
Ryou was hesitant, but talking to someone was better than nothing. He lifted his head and began to explain to Inuyasha what was going on. How he was attracted to Rei, how his yami and Riku had somewhat messed it up. How he had apologized, but then he had been the one to screw up. "But I still think I'm right!" He said, nibbling on his bottom lip. "I don't come from here, I can't stay. I'm going to leave sooner or later, so why get involved with her when one of us is going to end up hurt?"
Inuyasha smacked Ryou upside his head. "You're idiotic!" He exclaimed, half laughing. "Just think if you took that logic to other things. For, hum, example, life. If we're going to die in the end, why even bother living?" He cuffed Ryou again, just because he found Ryou to be extremely dense. His strikes didn't hurt, but they did snap Ryou out of his sadness. "Let's get simpler for you. Your leg is going to get amputated tomorrow. Now tell me, are you going to be sitting on this couch whining about it, or will you get up and run and jump and do as much as you can with your leg before it leaves?"
"How can my leg be sick enough to get amputated one day, but perfectly healthy the next?" Ryou asked, then managed to duck as Inuyasha's hand came swinging for his face again. He grinned, to show that he was just kidding. "Sorry. I guess I get what you're saying. But... I've already screwed up a lot. I don't think I could patch things up easily. I should probably let Rei have some time to, you know, cool off."
"Wait too long, and she'll get a grudge against you. She'll just sit alone, thinking bad thought about you and hating you more and more." Inuyasha said, a little from experience. "Sometimes it's better to go after the girl, even if you aren't sure if she'll take you back. Go to her, beg, whimper at her feet-- At least make it clear that you're sorry."
Ryou studied Inuyasha critically, as though trying to determine whether or not the demi demon was being serious. He got up to his feet, stretching and trying to get the blood flowing again. He had been sitting down for a while. "If you really think so. Fine, I'll go try to find her."

“How much longer?” Riku asked, blocking Sora’s keyblade and slashing at his friend’s torso. Sora blinked at the abrupt question and almost didn’t dodge fast enough. Riku jumped backwards, his way of offering a break. “Us staying here. It isn’t a very good idea at all, you know. We have to find a way home.”
“What can we do?” Sora considered accepting the break, but things had been so tense with everybody lately. He wanted to work off some steam, mainly irritation he had with the others. He lunged for Riku, who easily twisted out of the way. “We can’t risk switching televisions on and off, you know that. And the TVs are our only clue to getting out of this place. Well, getting into this place. Nobody has actually left.”
They clashed blades for a little time as Riku pondered this dilemma. They were sparring in the ice rink, deciding that the slippery surface was excellent training. “But not doing anything is just as bad. I mean, we’ve got magic. I could try to figure something out with my dark portals. It would probably be easier if we did experiments on how people come out, you know?” He threw his keyblade at Sora, who deflected it and sent it skittering over the ice. It vanished a few yards away, reappearing in Riku’s hand.
“But that would mean other people coming here.” Sora said stubbornly, charging up for a Firaga. “And that’s the thing we mainly want to avoid. Not all people who come out would be good guys. I mean, what if someone like Ansem got out of our world? Or Malificent?” He launched his super-packed magic missile at his friend.
Riku cringed as the magic blast hit him in the torso. The fire burned, but not physically. His clothes and skin were undamaged—they were only sparring, after all. “There are a lot more people to worry about than those two.” Riku said somewhat sarcastically, trying to regain his balance. “From just our world. And some of Inuyasha’s demons sound pretty bad as well. Don’t you think we could take them, though?”
Sora grinned at Riku—it would be fun to fight alongside his friend for a major battle, not as rivals for once. “Yeah. Of course we could.” He dove for Riku as his friend stumbled a little from the Firaga blast, but ended up slipping on the ice and falling down face first. Riku had to stifle his laughter. “Really, though, we can’t go experimenting with going back and those portals. Rei is being nice enough in letting us stay, we can’t go off doing stupid things and bring even more people into her house.”
Riku sat down next to Sora, who had sat up and was rubbing his nose gingerly. The ice didn’t bother either of them. “Yeah. I just wish we knew more. Is our time still going on? If we stay here for a year, does that mean a year is passing for us? What’s going to happen to all the worlds without the keyblade bearers?”
Sora looked stricken at this—the thought clearly hadn’t crossed his mind. He had just assumed that they would be transported to the exact time they had come from. “Well, there’s always King Mickey…” The look Riku gave Sora said that the teen had no confidence in the mouse. Sora grit his teeth and shrugged. “Yeah. I guess it would be pretty bad if all the worlds were left for him to handle.”
“I was talking to Inuyasha about it, and—” Riku began to say, and Sora cut him off with a laugh.
“You? Talking to Inuyasha?” Sora snorted. “You two seemed to rub each other the wrong way. Since when have you been able to get conversations in with him?” Sora had trouble talking to the others one-on-one. The group scattered throughout the immense mansion, making tracking people down very hard. He stuck around Riku, because it had been so long since he had seen his friend, and he wanted to make sure he didn’t go vanishing on him or anything.
“It wasn’t a very long conversation.” Riku said, frowning at the younger teen’s giggles. “But he’s very worried about his own time. He was in the middle of a fight with his older brother, who’s very dangerous, when he got whisked here. The rest of the group he was with wouldn’t really stand a chance against the guy. So if we decided to try and find a way back, he wants to be included as well.” The Way to Dawn faded out of his hand—Sora’s Kingdom Key stuck out of the ice, and Sora kicked at the blade.
“Yeah, I can understand that. You guys probably have more urgency to get back because you were in the middle of fights and all. But if time is already passing like you said, what does it matter how much longer it takes? Whatever would happen after our disappearances has already happened.” Sora ran a gloved hand through his brunet spikes. Riku rolled his eyes. “And there isn’t really much we can do, as I’ve said. We know nothing about any of this.”
“Exactly. The sooner we get started on trying to figure this whole thing out, the sooner we’ll get to go home.” Riku sounded exasperated. He shifted his position, because the ice was starting to melt beneath him, soaking through his clothes. He had discarded his leather robes for now, and was wearing his baggy pants and yellow vest. “As I said before, Inuyasha said that he wants to be a part of trying to get home. And also, we’ll need Bakura—the spirit.”
This last comment made Sora’s head snap up. He studied his friend’s face as though searching for traces of insanity. “What? The spirit?” He asked, disbelieving. “He’s evil. There’s no way he would help us. Besides, how could he help us?”
“He’s much older than any of us, he’s living in a magical object. He probably knows a lot more about magic and things like this than we do.” Riku didn’t meet Sora’s gaze—he stared decidedly at the ice. “I don’t know if he would help, but he probably has things to go to in his own world. He might go along with it.”
“Yeah, and he might just pretend to be helping to send all of us to that Realm of Darkness.” Sora grumbled under his breath, standing up and yanking the keyblade out of the ice. “But I guess you make sense. Just don’t be surprised when he turns you down.”
“I’m already bracing myself for rejection.” Riku said, in overly sarcastic tones. Sora gave him a glare and muttered something under his breath. Riku offered the brunet a quick grin, then got up to his feet, being careful not to slip or stumble. He offered Sora a hand up, but his friend didn’t need it, and got to his feet on his own. “I think that’s enough training for now. If you keep fighting one person continuously, you learn all of their moves, and it just gets boring and predictable.”
Sora couldn’t help but tilt his head to the side. It was almost as though there was another meaning in Riku’s words, but he didn’t quite know what it was. “Yeah, I guess. Hey, if you want to mix things up a little, you could ask Inuyasha to spar with you. I’m sure he’d like to beat the tar out of you.” Riku gave Sora a shove, and he slipped and fell hard on the ice. Riku laughed and bolted off of the ice, before Sora had a chance to restabilize himself. Sora managed to scramble to his feet, and shot off after Riku, shouting promises of vengeance.

Mikuru sat, curled in a large armchair in the manga library. She wanted to read, but would much rather look at pictures then have to comprehend words. She was a calm girl most of the time—her life description required it. You don’t make a good time traveler if you panic all the time. She did get flustered, though, but that was mainly because of other people being around. Haruhi Suzumiya, for one.
She had been told about what had been going on, and knew that the others were all from different ‘worlds’. That her life was, in this plane, just a television show. But that didn’t mean her world was fake, just that the people from here viewed it as being made up. She was just as real as anybody from here, and just as real as, say, Ryou or Sora.
Endless possibilities of other world, other lives were suddenly open for her to look at seriously. Shows she had watched as a child could very well be real, somewhere out there. She was just viewing it through glass, not really interfering, but it was real. She was completely interested in the lives of the others staying at the mansion. Their adventures sounded amazing.
Which is what had brought Mikuru to the manga library. After a bit of searching and stretching, she had pulled out all of the books on the others as she could. Yu-Gi-Oh, Inuyasha, Kingdom Hearts. Even her own series. She only needed to flip through a couple of pages in her own book to know that it was fairly accurate. It was strange and unsettling to know what Kyon and the others did when she wasn’t around, though, so she had avoided reading the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.
Right now, the time traveler was working her way through the Inuyasha series. The plot was interesting, and she wanted to know what would happen next. She had met the actual half-demon, but she couldn’t help but still think of him as just a character in her mind. She didn’t feel too bad about reading any of the books, didn’t feel as though she was poking around in places she didn’t belong. Nobody else was around, nobody would find out. It was just her own little secret, knowing all about the others. Besides, she had rationalized, didn’t Rei already know a lot of this stuff? The other girl seemed to have background knowledge of the others. It was only fair that they all be on the same ground. If anybody else wanted to, they were free to read her series.
Mikuru thought she heard a noise and jumped, guiltily hiding her current book behind her back. But nobody was there, and she realized how foolish she was being. If she didn’t want the others knowing what she was reading, being in the library, being surrounded by all the YGO, KH, and Inuyasha books would betray her actions. She got up to her feet, marking her page and then straightening her dress. She looked around and located a bag, and began to pack a majority of the books into the bag. She would take them to her newly selected bedroom, and read them there. She was bound to get better privacy there than she would in here. There was a lock, at least, even though she was sure most of the others could just break the door down if they wanted to.
Mikuru poked her head out of the library, cautiously looking around. She felt uncomfortable with the others still. She had hardly spoken with Rei, and hadn’t met Rin yet. Inuyasha had given her a tour, but he had been more interested in finding out about her than he was in talking about himself. She had been briefly introduced to Sora and Riku—Sora seemed nice enough, if not maybe too outgoing, and Riku seemed rather cold. But Ryou… Ryou was nice, she decided. He was like her, shy and embarrassed easily. He was a lot more serious, not quite as hyperactive as the others. The kind of person she would be friends with under… normal… conditions.
As she scuttled back to her room, Mikuru considered the current conditions. She hadn’t even been here for an entire day, she didn’t know how things were run. There was a kitchen on just about every floor, but everybody had their bedrooms on the same floor. Was that floor the main area? Were you allowed to roam around the house on your own, or was it better to stick with someone else? Sora and Riku had previously been friends; they came from the same world. Of course they would want to stay together. But Ryou had seemed to want to be left alone. Mikuru wasn’t sure where Inuyasha had gone off to.
And food. That was another matter bothering Mikuru. She was a little hungry, but she could wait. Wait for what, though? Maybe everybody had meals together, at normal times of the day, or maybe they just wandered into any kitchen at random times and ate what they wanted? Mikuru wished she had some paper to write some of her questions down. She could ask Ryou about these things later—of the newcomers, he had been here the longest. She certainly felt more comfortable asking Ryou about this than she would have been asking Rei.
Locating her bedroom door, Mikuru smiled faintly to herself. She could also ask Ryou—well, everyone—if they wanted to have meals together. If they already weren’t, that was. She could offer to cook the food. It would give her something to do with her time. She didn’t train and spar like the other three fighters, so she guessed that she was going to have a lot of time to herself in these next days. Weeks? Months? Mikuru had no idea how long she was going to be stuck here. Nobody seemed to have the faintest idea on how to get back to the own homes.
Mikuru secretly hoped that they didn’t find a way back too soon. She wanted to get to know the others a little better, take a break from her own life for just a while. She imagined it would be like a little vacation.

Inuyasha's ears twitched a little, and then looked at Ryou. "Well, that's probably her." He said, with a small smirk. "Better hurry up and go before you lose track of where she is." Ryou nodded, completely serious, took in a breath, and left the room. Inuyasha flexed his fingers, his joints popping as he did so. Poor b*****d.
Ryou left the room trying to remember the layout of the house. There seemed to be a kind of echoing quality with all of the hallways, which made getting around hard to do. He remembered seeing a piano room somewhere, but hell if he recalled where it was. He should have accepted a map. Still, Ryou was able to find the room. His breath caught in his throat as he watched Rei play the piano-- he hovered in the doorway, too scared to actually enter the room. He did his best not to make a sound, so he wouldn't interrupt Rei's playing.

Ryou hesitated, looking at the piano before managing to get the courage to look at Rei. "Yes... Rei, I need to apologize to you. I've had time to think about what I said earlier, and... It's a mistake. Just because I'm going to have to leave at some point doesn't mean I can't enjoy what time I do have with you. But... earlier, I was being an idiot. I suppose I'm just nervous. First time with a girl and all." He tried to smile, but failed miserable and his face quickly settled into a small frown.
