Rue simply lay without a sleeping bag. He wasn't long in falling asleep as well.

Marius lay next to his sister, taking in some of the heat she had used her magic to create.
Adele reached out for Rue to pull him closer to her so he could stay warm as well.

Adele fell asleep soon after that.
A man was walking across the desert towards them. He had sensed a familiar magic aura then and went off to alert some others.

Being a shadow magic user, Rue sensed someone nearing, then hastily retreating. He opened his eyes and very carefully pulled away from Adele.

Rue ended up in her embrace once more. He looked around more alertly for any attacks.

The man had gone and retrieved more men. They were heading towards the camp and would have begun to surround it.

Rue suppressed the growl in his throat and tried to wake up Marius quietly.

Marius didn't seem to want to wake up.
One of the men walked stealthily up to the tent. He opened the tent and looked around for Adele.

Rue slipped out of Adele's arms when he found that he couldn't get Marius up, and quickly moved to one side of the tent flap to wait for his prey. When the guy looked into the tent, Rue covered the man's mouth and tried to knock him out.

The man turned to try to stab Rue, but he quickly succumbed and passed out.

Rue's arm was sliced when he did that. Rue caught the guy and walked out of the tent calmly. He then promptly aimed the man and threw him accurately close to where the people were hiding out, hoping to set an example for them. He then went back into the tent.

Three men this time ran up to the tent. Two went on one side and one went on the other side. They stormed the tent, two trying to distract Rue and one going to grab Adele.

Rue felt them coming. He had a feeling they were going for either him or Adele, so he acted fast. He lifted Adele lightly in his arms and shot out of the tent, under their attackers' arms.
