((Beach Bar))

Thankfully drawing her hand back after the shake, Namini tried to wear her best face as something continued to squirm uncomfortably in the girl's conscience. Something was very suspicious, and Namini did not enjoy the feeling at all. The tension was nearly suffocating her but still, her legs went numb and refused to remove her from the seat. Letting out a concentrated sigh, the brunette decided it was best to just stay as cheery as possible and focus on keeping the conversation lighthearted. Another smile.

"The summer festival! I meant so many people there, I remember now. I," she blushed, recalling the terribly embarrassing event. "I remember now, how we met. I get so excited sometimes, sorry."

Apologizing a year later for something so trivial as a squeal? Namini was definitely running out ideas of how to keep the conversation going and safe at the same time. She was beginning to think a bothersome silence would dig a bottomless ditch between her and the two others, until Lillian brought up the topic of...relationships. Instinctively, the girl's face grew hot, the crimson coloring going as far as to lightly kiss her ears. Lillian thought that-- Isi? and her were--?! Trying to organize a denial, Namini suddenly felt very very exhausted. The tension, the awkwardness, the summer heat. In hopes of conserving energy, the teen just shook her head quietly and proceeded with her silent observations. Listening intently, she realized, yes, they had met before..

(( Sand n’Stuff --> Beach Bar))

There are people born with brains like a steel trap, they can react quickly to any given situation with a wit and humor that amazes others. Then there are those who find themselves poking the trap’s release with a finger in its jaws wondering what will happen if they put enough pressure on it. RoChan was of the latter. Her brain, while moving at the speed of light, often left her thoughts stranded between here and there never really making any sort of connection until the trap shut closed around her fingers.

Ebony’s words seemed to be like a sort of magical spell drawing her thoughts together and with a mental snap, the dragon’s thoughts came together for a moment. She had left her beach bag at the bar! It had her address, wallet, everything in it! Glancing back over towards the crowded place she could see its gaudy hue peek through the various legs and floating tails.

Standing up, RoChan stretched ever so slightly and watched as the sky changed into a vibrant hue of pinks and purples as the sun dipped below the horizon. “Nope, I’m done with the events. I don’t think my ego can take anymore damage.” She gave them all crooked smiled.

Turning her attention back to Aphismet and Rivener, the blue haired woman waved her hand back and forth and like magic, a white card appeared, tucked between her fingers. Handing the business card to the floating frei she gave them a mysterious smile. “Here, this has my address and phone number. You can call me about setting up a time to come over and borrow my camera.” With a small wave, RoChan walked back towards the bar to find some relief to her shoulder and possibly something to eat to cure her hunger.

Once at the bar she quickly procured her beach bag and sat down next to Lazarus. Placing her inner tube near the foot of her stool the blue dragon located her wallet within the beach bag. It was time to let go of her miserly ways and fill her stomach. “Excuse me, bar tender? When you have a moment please?” She politely intruded on the conversation he was having with the lovely floating ladies for a moment.

Turning her attention to Lazarus, RoChan gave him a wide grin teasing a bright magenta painted lock of hair. “I don't know about you, but pink is not your color.”

The sky had gotten pretty dark, so Kyou turned on the shack's ceiling light to light things up a little and went back to attend to the 2 Raevans. "Amaretto Coladas for 2 young ladies? Sure." Kyou replied happily as he eyed Aki and Yuurei, wondering if they'll pay for their drinks. He was at least glad that Melisande had seemed more relaxed and calmed by his and Lucia's words. "I'm sure Zave would appreciate a visit." He added.

As he got to work blending the drinks, another woman showed up at the counter. "Yes, what can I help you with?" he asked, putting on his best customer service smile.

Lazarus attention was momentarily distracted from his thoughts when he heard Lucia's voice. Raising his eyes from the surface of the table he looked up, only to be greeted by yet another gorgeous and busty Frei that he was not familiar with. This one had gorgeous long wavy black hair. What's happening in the lab lately? What is with all these young busty Raevans??! He had to wonder as a small blush crept up his cheeks. She was the second one he saw just today alone.

Just then another distraction descend upon him. "Wh-what?" he responded, totally caught off guard. He turned his gaze around and saw - the lady that he bumped into during the paint ball competition. "It's you!"

A fierce growl displayed itself on Isi's face just as quickly as the hot blush. Damn, how he hated this girl! This 'Lillian Maevin' really got on his nerves. She was always saying something to get him ticked off. It was almost as if she knew what buttons to press to make him malfunction. From the first moment they met, they were like two rabid dogs on either side of a wired fence. Stuffing his arms crudely into his crutches, Isi turned to Namini and gave her an apologetic knit of his thick brows. "You don't have to be sorry for anything, Namini. I thought I told you that before," he gave the faint flick of a smile, before he turned his glare full blast on Lil.

"It's none of your business, you brown-noser," the fifteen-year old snapped, "The only people I smile with are with ones who aren't rude and impudent and meddlesome!"

It had taken a while for the impish raevan to finally chose his first victim. Narrowing his red eyes at the chosen person, the minty raevan reached into his bucket of water balloons and jumped as one of them exploded on his hands. They must be really sensitive, Eiry deducted. He shook his hand a bit to shake off all the water.

...Perfect.

Watching him for a few moments longer, Eiry finally took out a light blue water balloon and chucked it at We'rika.

Lucia felt her confidence bloat as her idea to visit the white and blue raevan was affirmed by both Dr. Kyou and her blonde companion. As the sigel kissed her cheek, she flapped her wings absentmindedly. So far she got two kisses today -- one on her wing from Rivener and one on her cheek from Pasha. She wasn't sure how she felt about the possibility of kissing back, but she certainly liked receiving kisses. Lucia smiled at the "nice" compliment. No one had ever called her nice before. She examined the older raevan next to her and pushed her pointer finger through the middle of one of Melisande's curls. Her hair was so different. "Do you feel better?" Pausing as she tried to catch Lazarus's eyes, she asked "Do you know him?". She ran her fingers through her own hair to make sure every strand was perfect.

As Lazarus looked up and she caught him examining her. As she was about to gently wave he looked away and began talking to an intrusive blue haired woman. She looked familiar. As Lucia examined her and her things, she saw a bright yellow circular . . . thing. Suddenly it hit her. That was the girl Rivener had asked her to watch. That was the girl who had the star-shaped camera. That was the girl who had been hugging Rivener. Maybe Rivener ran away for her . . . Lucia's eyes narrowed at the woman as she watched the raevan and woman interact.

Aphismet took David's offered hand and smiled, giving it a good shake. "I'm Aphismet Delaran. Pleased to meet you! Hopefully from now on I won't be assuming you're kidnapping my teacher." He chuckled. "As for your sister, I don't recall... If I did meet her, perhaps I didn't learn her name?"

Soon after, a voice echoed out announcing the beginning of the Storytime event... Aphismet blinked. "I think my brother was signed up for this... I might need to check up on him."

"Storytime?" Rivener repeated, looking over at the starting bonfire "Lucia!" Riv was about to bolt when Rochan summoned her business hard, handing it to him. The Scorpion smiled gratefully, nodding and tucking the card away in his pocket. "Thank you! I'll call really soon!" he called after her as she headed for the bar.

Riv's eyes, having followed the blue hair all the way back, strayed to a familiar, dark-haired half-body floating there. Lucia was at the bar! Near Laz and... Urgh, Melisande. Grimacing, Riv floated over nonetheless, heading straight for the cat-Frei without sparing Pasha a glance.

"Lucia! Here you are. The story started, are you coming?"
He floated as though impatiently waiting for her, eager to get the hell away from the beautiful blonde muse.

Aphi smiled thankfully at Rochan. She was responsible for making Riv smile again, and that made her a wonderful person. "Well, Ebony, David, if you'll excuse me... I think I might go see how my Brother is faring." With slight bow of his head, Aphi started off, glancing towards the pie table but unable to see anything from this distance in the growing night.

Lucia jumped in surprise as Rivener appeared behind her. Here you are. "You were looking for me? Oh the event!" She looked around not wanting Rivener to leave, but not wanting to leave Melisande when she was upset at all. And she still wanted to meet the red and white raevan. Did Rivener know Zavier? She didn't know much about who Rivener knew, other than Roux. "Zave umm fell down before? This is Pasha," she said indicating the blonde girl with a flap of her wing. "Me and Pasha are going to visit Zave soon. To make sure he's okay."

Lucia felt awkward. She wasn't comfortable introducing people at all and even still didn't know if they knew each other. But it seemed Rivener didn't know the blonde raevan because he didn't say hi.

Rivener was startled to see that Lucia wasn't coming along right away. Well, she did seem to want to meet more Raevans, and with Laz and Pasha here it would be a good spot that she might not want to leave. Still. Riv certainly didn't have to like it.

"I know her," Riv spat venomously, refusing to look at the blonde frei as he spoke. "And that's really nice, Lucia. But come on, seriously, we're late." Riv's hand snaked out to grab at the cat-girl's wrist, pulling her slightly to try and pry her away to the bonfire.

"I'm sure Zave's fine, he might just have been out in the sun too long. You go visit him later, yeah, that'll be nice."
In all honesty, Riv considered Zave a very good friend and would love to visit him as well, slightly concerned, but there was no way in hell he'd show up anywhere with Pasha.

"Better~" Melisande repeated, and dimpled as Lucia poked one of her curls. The smile faded a bit as Rivener approached, but Melisande gazed at his lowered profile without flinching. He was angry, but that was part of his nature, she supposed.

Pasha didn't bother answering Lucia's question, as Rivener made it abundantly clear. Instead, she raised one hand to them both, and waved her fingers a bit in farewell. "Thank you, Lucia. Bye." Her tone was soft, and a tiny bit of pink rested high in her cheeks. Giving them a moment to excuse themselves, Melisande watched them go...blue eyes raising to the bonfire beyond them. She was supposed to be there, as well, but there was no need to ruin anyone's evening. Even if that someone was Rivener.

After a moment, she turned, finally catching Aki's eyes. "I'm ready." She smiled a bit, but the Sigel seemed tired. Aki didn't really blame her, and struggled a bit to keep her own irritation under control. Scooping up her bag with one arm, offering the other to the muse, Aki offered a brief nod in Kyou's direction. Pasha, realizing she was forgetting something, waved to those near by with her free hand, and inclined her head to Laz. She didn't know where the others had gone, but there was no real need to say good bye. After all, they'd see each other again.

(( Beach Bar ))

Lucia's brow furrowed as she heard the harsh tone behind Rivener's words. She felt taken aback because she had only been trying to introduce two people and her head was practically bitten off.

She was startled once again when Melisande said goodbye. She had hurt behind her eyes -- she was hoping to return to the storytime with both Rivener and the blonde raevan -- but (ignoring Rivener's pulling hand) she accepted Pasha's farewell and even went so far as to return the kiss she had received earlier. Placing her lips on Melisande's warm cheek in farewell, she said, "Please get in touch with me so we can go see Zave. . . Bye," and she finally allowed herself to be pulled by Rivener.

She looked up at him as they headed towards the bonfire. She didn't understand his anger, but decided to let the event go for now. So he knew Zave . . . did he like Zave? Rivener obviously didn't like Pasha. But she was so sweet, what would she have done to him?

"Sorry I made you late to the fire . . . " she said, finally responding to him.

[[Beach Bar >> STORYTIME]]

Rivener had seen the look in Lucia's eyes, as though she was the one that had Riv's ire directed at her. Still, she didn't say anything, and the Scorpion decided that it was best to pretend nothing happened. Riv also wisely decided to ignore the fact that Lucia seemed to very much like Pasha, kissing her on the cheek like that. Despite all the careful neutrality, Riv found himself bristling slightly. By the time they'd made it to the fire, Rivener was not in a very good mood, although he made sure to carefully keep his temper in check. He'd learned the lesson quite well; lashing out had severe consequences.

Reaching into his pocket for his rings and jewelry, starting to slip them back onto his fingers, Riv just glanced at Lucia with mild annoyance, although it was quickly dissipating. "It's alright, I was talking with the blue-haired lady until just before, anyway."

The thought of the camera brought a smile to Riv's face, softening the features, and he looked up at the darkening sky, sighing contentedly. Soon he'd be able to "feed", and he'd feel much better. "Let's try to listen to where the story is going, and then we can add some parts, okay?" There. Riv made an attempt to put all the unpleasantness behind them, turning a smile to the cat-girl before he shifted his attention to the other people at the fire, trying to hear a few more story snippets before he contributed.

And just like that, Ebony was alone. Well…not completely as David was still there, but she might as well been alone since his grey eyes seemed glued to RoChan’s disappearing backside. “Tell him ello from me then.” she said quietly after Aphismet as she probably wouldn’t have a chance to see the younger boy before she left. When would that be anyway?

Her eyes looked forward at the darkened horizon, the last bits of sunlight having already disappeared from its scape quite some time ago. Ebony tucked a stray purple strand behind her ear and gave a sigh. She didn’t want to leave yet, but the party was almost over and there wasn’t anything left for her to do now. Though maybe she should swing by the bar one last time to pay the doctor a visit and drop off a more charitable “tip.”

((Sand n Stuff -> Beach Bar))

David watched as his new acquaintances wandered off, RoChan in a hurry and Aphismet just waddling in concern for his brother towards the beach bar, and then the only person left to encounter his gaze was Ebony. For a second their eyes locked and David let out a bittersweet sigh. Their fun had been ruined earlier and there was an awkward tension between them now. It looked as if he were childishly jealous and she, silently fuming over what he could not comprehend. Probably his flirtatious aura when RoChan was around...Oh well. It was darker now, colder now and finally the goosebumps caught up to him. Slipping on his meager layer of clothing, David shot the thoughtful woman one last concerned glance before offering his hand to her like he had before. This time the mischief was gone from his features and the tenderness he usually only showed to his furry patients at the clinic was expressed, "Come on, Ebony. I'll take you back to the beach bar for our goodbyes, at least. Take you somewhere where you won't be as lonely."

Yes, though he was beside her, the typically energized woman seemed very tired and ...tired. There was no other word to explain it.

((Storytime // Storytime -> Beach Bar ))

Lucia looked up at Rivener as he mentioned the blue haired woman from before. As Rivener's face broke out into a smile Lucia felt herself relax. The tension from before seemed to melt away as she allowed herself to forget his anger from before. "Is she going to let you use her star-shaped camera?" Lucia asked with a smile, recalling her misunderstanding from before.

Her eyes sparked at him as they reached the bonfire, the light in them seeming to mimic the flickering embers that jumped and flew off of the top of the stacked wood. Like the light in her eye, the light of the embers would gradually fade, turning their true color.

As she settled down by the bonfire she tried to listen to the story, but found herself distracted by the orange and red flames as they danced their one and only time. "The fire's really pretty . . ." she looked over at her scorpion companion and the fire was reflected in her eyes as a playful smile fell across her lips.

--------

Yuurei relaxed a little as she saw Lucia come over with yet another raevan. Had she seen the young raevan with him earlier? She didn't remember.

Her head was slowly beginning to throb as the drunkenness wore off. Thinking a water would be very beneficial at the moment, Yuurei got up and stumbled towards the bar on the other side of Lazarus. "Kyou, I don't mean to be a pain, but I have a wicked headache. Can I get a water?" She pulled her wallet out of her purse and placed a few dollars on the counter, hoping that it would be brought quickly. If she hydrated herself, the throbbing should go away. But then again, the world was spinning slightly too.

((Sand n Stuff > Beach Bar))

Young as she was, Ebony often gave off the aura of someone much older, so tired was a good way to describe her current condition although not totally accurate. It wasn’t a physical tiredness; no she could go on playing around on that beach forever. It was a mental and emotional fatigue that took her over then. Thus when David spoke to her again, she silently agreed by slipping her small hand into his strong grip.

Ebony wasn’t sure how she felt about this…new acquaintance. David vexed her to an extent far beyond any other person she’d met, at least at this present time. She couldn’t pin down how his mind worked exactly because it was always changing, mostly in a flurry of raw emotions. Thinking about that reminded her of how she’d been acting that afternoon and it made her frown. Ebony was suppose to be strong and tough, not some screaming, laughing schoolgirl. The beach had a wicked way of allowing her to be too carefree. It was unacceptable how she’d behaved, like a child. Ebony was too enthralled in her thought to realize she hadn’t let go of David’s hand as they slowly walked back to the bar.
