"I'm going to introduce him to popcorn. He likes to spend time with Peaches and teach him bad manners."!
Cody was grinning. "A cat that'll eat everything," he said. "I heard they're picky eaters."

"Technically he's not a cat, he's fae," Toby said, "He just looks like a cat. When we first found him we thought he might be just a cat but he cursed one of our agents when we questioned his captors."

"He was probably offended," Maia said. Especially if the agent had spoken their thought aloud. "Seamus' good at putting his point across."
"There aren't any cat fairy only traits?" Cody asked.

"Well he got it across that time. We still would have had him released if he were just a normal cat, but I'm not sure how long he might have lasted if he was too afraid or stupid to follow us home," Toby admitted.
"Well, the cursing," Dari said, "He can curse you to think he cursed you. He can read and wrote to some point, he can solve riddles... he's about as much person as he is cat, and he's huge."
"They sat that cat sidhe capture souls by walking over graves. That was why they had him," Toby said, "but nobody has any idea if it's true. Souls aren't exactly measurable and Michael's still around with them both in the office."

"The coloring, too. They're black with a white spot on their chests," Maia said. "We could always ask Seamus whether the soul stealing is true or not, but he'd probably say it was anyway." The cat sidhe did seem to like being impressive.
"You have a ghost and a soul stealing cat in the same office?" Cody asked, but he was grinning. He shook his head.

Toby looked incredulous for a moment, but had a bit of cake in his mouth. He chewed and smiled before speaking, but still held his hand in front of his mouth, just in case.
"And he's as big as a dog, that too!" He seemed shocked that nobody had mentioned that particular point. It was the first thing he had noticed, even before they knew what Seamus was.
"Right, and he probably would," Dari replied, nodding to Maia. The cat was pretty much harmless unless he tried to physically attack you (and he never had) but liked to play a big game.
"Well, exactly," Toby said as he motioned to Cody, "You wouldn't think it would work like that."

"He is fairly big," Maia agreed, and smiled at Toby. "So is his ego." She paused and directed her next words to Cody. "We took him to Ireland with us, he really seemed to like it."
"You'll have all sorts of things to show me," Cody said, looking to Dari.

"He likes going out," Toby agreed with a smile, "I mean, he lives in an office and in suburban Arizona. As far as we know he used to be a free-wandering wildcat. Of course now he steals cupcakes and corrupts our cat."
Dari smiled and nodded. "You have no idea."

"The stealing cupcakes thing is my fault," Maia admitted. "I made him a cupcake once, and he doesn't let anyone forget how much he liked it. I was still learning how to bake then. He likes pasta, too."
"I'm looking forward to it," Cody finished his piece of cake. "I'll have to tell mom she has competition as the family's best baker."

"You can't tell your mom that!" Toby said with a laugh. Poor Dari.
"and yes, he does have a favorite in Maia..." Dari added.

Late in August, Lori was introduced to the newest intern in the research department. A twenty four year old forest elf with a slightly excitable personality. "It's so nice to meet you, Mister Yraudhen," she said, shaking his hand. "Today's my first day!" Well... He'd probably already been notified of that. "Do you need anything?" She asked. "Coffee?"

Lori had been expecting a young entity intern, but there was no way to be prepared for what each person brought to the table. A lot of the time, it was absolutely nothing. If you didn't have a passion for the job, you didn't last long in Research. It was a lot of fomulas, run-throughs, and tedium.
Unfortunately he was head of the department, so all of the interns went through him.
She had said his surname correctly, presumably because she spoke Elvish as well, and he didn't feel the need to offer her his first name. She'd done that to herself.
"Amari, right?" He shook her hand back. "Uh. No. Thanks. If anyone tells you to get them coffee they're being an a*****e, because we have our own machine back here. What are you interested in when it comes to this department? Did they go through it with you at all?" He wasn't really one for small talk with interns.

Lori received a bright smile for knowing her name. "Right! Oh, alright. Thank you, Mister Yraudhen, for the tip! Um. Let's see... I wanted to learn more about other entities," she said, and offered him a smile. "When I chose this department, I thought it'd be the best place to do that. They did a bit, not much." Amari looked around. "Do you think you can give me a quick run through?"

Lori tilted his head and stuck his tongue into his cheek. Oh boy. This one was going to be trouble. He could feel it.
"Honestly, every agent goes through training on entity types. Here you're expected to know them and recognize them. We can't send people out into the field with the wrong equipment because we gave them a bad classification. Also, nothing in this department is 'quick,' so if that's what you're looking for, you're going to need to go somewhere else. Did someone give you the classifications packet? Have you seen the available entity files?"
