You can invent Radio- 1930 You can invent Microwave's- 1950 You can even invent a massive, open forum, satellite video phone uplink that spans across FIVE countries -2001 But the concept of a Gun- early 1400's ...eluuuuuuudes you. Naruto Universe: Um...yes? stare ....*sigh* confused I guess I'm just sittin here waitin on Cheer... note: Japan really didnt recieve guns until their encounters with other countries. So.....Naruto can be loosly based on the era when the japanese never encountered other countries....i say loosly..because thier cloathing is more modern...and...i just think mister naruto creator guy (i forget his name really quicklike) just didnt want all these beautiful martial arts moves interupted to a swift gunshot to the head by some evil deuche......

confused It's funny, but I said this to a friend of mine and he was like:
cool Man think about it, Gun's are probably completely obsolete in the Naruto world. Ninja's obviously have heavy monopoly on all the technology, (which I never noticed before, but it's true) and why the heck would THEY want a gun when they can spew fire the rough equivalent to a concussive heat grenade whenever the hell the urge hits them. What the hell you SHOULD be asking is how many Uchiha's died while getting drunk and attempting to use their fire jutsu.- end quote
Happy hour, what REALLY killed the Uchiha Clan. (I want a T-shirt of that now... lol
And while I'm thinking about it... Some of the Daimyo's were whining about how a massive ninja alliance might have too much power...but...in reality... If the ninja wanted to take over, what the f*** do they think they could do about it? Other than complain while their armies were wiped away like unwanted refuse.

Other than complain while their armies were wiped away like unwanted refuse. well.......guns only screw up your long time needed for your ninja fast reflexes to bend your fingers.....by the time your done with the last handseal...BAM! bullet in the head.....but yea...the daimyo where bitches XD they could only guide thier troops around and then b***h when they died or didnt do thier job correctly xd so when ninja's came up........they where powerless to the awesum secksyness of disguises and throatcutting from shadows and somehow creating ice from out of nowhere.....yea...id be a scared little b***h too...but luckily...i have ARMY GUNZ! they try to do some super godmod jutsu on my a**...and ill shoot them til thier bloods blood is bleeding blood!

See though, that's the problem that I was thinkin about. confused Gun's would kill your average nin sure, but think about Madarah, or Orochimaru. I doubt a gun would even bother them. Madarah because he possesses the ability to be selectively corporeal admittedly but still...
sad Oh well. At least we can agree that gun's, bazooka's, and ninja robot's made from gundanium alloy, would all still lose too Gin Ichimaru and his freakin THREE KILOMETER LONG SWORD.
gonk I mean my god...that's not EVEN compensating for something...that's just...WTF! Forget snipping people, this guy can cut your entire army in half from a McDonald's one town over.
I almost died laughing when I read that. Bleach is entertaining at this point for just being gratuitously awesome.

No kidding, And with Gin's you don't even SEE it because it can apparently change lengths instantaneously.
Hm... if I remember correctly, you take into account the situation and then apply the various DC Mods. Whispering, Behind a door, etc.
I think I've got a list for it here *Checks* Indeed.
Listening Checks
DCs:
People talking close to you 0.
Person walking behind you normally 5.
Person walking slowly behind you 10.
Person using move silently counter check. DC opponents check.
People whispering 15.
Conditions:
Person talking behind a door +10
Behind a wooden wall +15
Behind a stone wall + 20
Per 5 feet of distance -1 on your check
If listener is distracted, they receive a -5 penalty on their roll.
For setting them up for a mission, I would just take into a account the various conditions and then make an average for the checks, on occasion adding more should conditions change and so on. Make sense?

Training, do you want a DC for training or a regular DC? Oh well, here's answers for both.
DC: confused Now that I think about it, the hearing DC seems to assume that there's actually something to hear. If not, I guess the standard 10 will do. If there IS something to hear, then I'll need that information.
Training: This ones easy. Listening is a skill, so it's 5 training per point. A standard listening exercise I would use would be something like this.
To hear the rhythm of the streets... (I usually go overly dramatic on the names)
DC: 10
Training:0/10
Formula: Listen+1d20
You'd get 2 points of listen for completing this.
You COULD spice it up by making it more complex, like this:
DC:15
Training:0/5
Formula: Listen+1d20
For same amount of points.

Can not express the sadness at not having time to rp right now. BUt school ends next week and we all know the summer routine where we can spend at least 23 hours a day on gaia!
Also, I can't wait to get the super secret awesome plot going (Wink, wink, nod, nod Ghost)
