I wouldn't say almost immortal, she's got enough weak spots that dying is a definite possibility in every fight she's in. But she's tough, and crafty, and that's usually enough to survive.
Well, if you can think of a way how, yes, you probably should.

Yeah, but since I had already turned the ground to mud, not as much would have seeped in, plus my Great Breakthrough would have helped take the brunt of the boom away.

Hmm, in a sense. She takes in a bubble of air and sort of eats it, I guess that's the best way to describe it. She usually carries a few air bubbles around for use, since she releases them to talk. (Like a balloon with a pinched neck to make that hissing sound, kind of.) But yes, she technically does breathe.
And don't give up and kill yourself! If you do I'll kill you! Haha.
