Brendyn Rogel A computer itself is just a massive series of "true/false". With enough space and gears, you should be able to program your fortress. Yeah but it's not like you'd be able to get it to do anything. Maybe you could get it to spell something out in binary but it's not like it would accomplish anything measurable. ...though speaking of measurements, if (as that article lead me to believe) power is measured in units (as water is measured in depth) you could probably build a giant dwarven adding machine.

Man. I just read up on water pressure.
Now I'm suddenly tempted to build a BOAT fortress.

Carve out an absurdly massive room into a mountain/underground. Fill it with water. Built a fortress sized boat to sit in said flooded underground room.
I'm just trying to imagine what could even assail you at that point besides carp.

Hell yes I lead the militia.
Need my farmer dorfs to shape up or ship out though.

I was thinking more of starting yourself on an island or coastal area, building a dock out onto the sea, and then proceeding to build a ship up/down from there. Complete with cannons and a mast. If sea water has a pressure or flow value you could even use it to power your fortress.

Ah, but wait... [ Every material sinks in water. ]. So a boat wouldn't work unless that's only referring to objects rather than, say, a floor that was built onto the water. I know that you can build floors over water, but if you disconnect it from the land it might 'collapse' into the sea.
...should totally build an epic ship and then sink it.

Make it tall enough so that when you sink it half of the fortress is still exposed to air.

Well, if it sinks it'll still be closed from water as long as there's a roof on it and it's too tall for the water.
Also, I just saw that pumping water desalinates it. You could totally have an ocean-bound fortress without having any water issues that way.
If only there were a mechanic for constructing a moving building, you could totally have a boat.
If nothing else... you'd have an epic moat.

Construct an epic catapult to launch your fortress into the sea.

I'll built my entire fortress on a drawbridge, which will be operated by a lever in a glass case marked 'do not touch'.
The first sign of goblins and someone will touch it.

Better yet, build an open-topped fortress and lure an elven caravan onto the fort.
Then abandon the fortress and touch the lever.

Or build a fortress on stilts and put your trade depot underneath.
Then bust out the 'deconstruct building' orders.

Deegrading I just tried watching the first episode of Supernatural. The episode ended like five minutes into the show and went to episode two without me realizing it. I thought it had taken a commercial break, but noooo, instead I end up watching the whole first episode in a couple of seconds. Stupid Asian sites. www.surfthechannel.com www.sidereel.com Should be able to find anything you're looking for on one of those. Failing that, torrent it.

Well yes it does that, but all the links you get should be real. Links directly to the video.
