Toby reached out to set the timer and then settled back in. He smiled to Maia and kissed her cheek in return.

The lights flickered again. The wind was whistling against the house. Maia wrapped her arms more tightly around Toby. "Maybe the computer idea was better," she said.

"Sure. I'll go grab it," Toby said, "Come on." He shuffled with Maia still in his arms to the dining room table where his computer lived half of the time. "Do you want to go upstairs, or...?"

"Here's good," Maia said, "We could watch it in the living room," she offered. More room to cuddle on the couch. "We'll hear the timer better that way, too."

Toby nodded. Sure, whatever Maia wanted. He released her to let her walk to the couch while he retrieved two pairs of headphones. When he came back, he began searching for the film online, found it, and pulled it up so they could continue.

Maia settled on the couch, and smiled when Toby returned. She really was lucky, to have found someone so understanding, she reflected. She kissed his cheek.

Toby smiled and popped a pair of headphones on Maia's head. He got comfortable but didn't lay down too far as he knew he would have to get up to get the pizza at some point. He put his own headphones on but kept one ear off to hear the timer. He kissed her cheek then and rubbed her shoulder.

Maia scooted close to Toby and tried to focus on the movie. After a few minutes, she removed her headphones and went to fetch Peaches. "Come watch with us, kitty," she said, and returned to her spot next to Toby.

Toby watched Maia go. When picked up, Peaches opened his eyes, squinted, and began to purr. In moments his eyes were closed again, but he meowed and curled up on Maia when she sat back down. Toby smiled and ruffled the ginger cat's fur.

"Lazy kitty," Maia said, and smiled. She stroked his ears. He seemed to have fallen asleep again. Oh well. Headphones on and repositioned, Maia turned her attention to the movie.

It was only a few more cuddly seconds before peaches began to knead Maia's gut. Luckily they kept his nails trimmed for just that reason. Predictably, he didn't fight it much.

Oop, not asleep! Maia petted Peaches and smiled. "I love you, kitty," she said. She leaned closer to Toby, watching the movie.
Across town, Cody was faring much better than Maia. He was watching the lightning with wonder. "It's beautiful," he said.

The timer went off what seemed like no time later. Toby realized he was anxious with how fast time was passing. He kissed Maia's forehead and tried to slip away.

Dari had an arm around Cody's waist, watching the lightning with him.
"It is," he said, "like you." He smiled down to Cody and kissed his cheek.

Oh, pizza was done! Maia looked over towards the kitchen before removing her headphones and following Toby. She set Peaches down on the couch, where the cat would undoubtedly sleep.

He was surprised when Maia followed him, but didn't show it. He removed the pizza from the oven and started to cut it so it would cool faster. Peaches meanwhile lounged on the sofa.

Dari rolled his eyes, but leaned in to kiss Cody anyway.
"I'm sure I'm supposed to make some witty comment about space travel, but I can't think of any." He winked.
