My character would be sort of like that.
Is that what Oak was about? Oil and diesel and pollution and such?

Well my character would be like that, except in reverse.
Instead of diesel and pollution and stupid people threatening nature, the ugly scary nature threatens to destroy all.
In horrifying ways. Oh yes. So rather than being nature oriented but unnatural, he's very natural but unnature oriented. He's not pretty or green or fragrant. He's oily and black with nasty pulsating veins and looks like creepers are growing in him, and he smells like death. Flies gather around him and hornets live inside him and snakes sleep in his hair. He secretes bile and looks filthy and nothing about him seems natural but it is.
He dares Ivy to find his nature beautiful.
