Awa...I went to see "Watchmen" with Hubby and regretted it mightily. I felt unclean as I left the theater. Not just slimy or dirty...UNCLEAN. crying
[spoilerific rant] It was a three-hour marathon of feeling alternately bored and disgusted with small pin-pricks of sudden gore thrown in here and there. Was it really that important to the plot to have so much p***s in the movie? Why? Why was it necessary to CG his schlong swaying as he stepped down the stairs? I am never watching Blue Man Group ever again.
And oh my God, I did not need those close-ups of their orgasm faces. Do not need to know. Ever. If I had seen this movie while single I might have decided to embrace chastity as a lifestyle. Nice flamethrower orgasm pun. I can still smell the cheese over 24 hours after the movie ended.
The movie also hit all of my buttons. Rape? Check. (I know he didn't actually get to rape her but there was enough intent and attempt to qualify in my mind.) Unborn child killed? Check. Small child kidnapped and mutilated? Check. Why don't you just top it all off with a kitten stomp for God's sake?
And the gore. I can handle gore. One of my favorite movies is Sin City. My favorite movie of all time is Aliens. I enjoyed Kill Bill 1 & 2. Laughed my butt off, in fact. However it just seems like overkill to suddenly zoom all the way in on a compound fracture during an unimportant fight.
Oh, and the world's smartest man came up with one hell of a stupid idea. You do realize that given human nature your solution is only good for 5-10 years. But I will concede this point...perhaps this alternate earth is so far different from ours that "Dr. p***s is in his galaxy; all's right with the world" actually works.
I spent almost the entire movie questioning the decisions of the producer, director, editor and screenwriters. I would rather watch "The Talented Mr. Ripley" again than this movie. ><[/rant]

O__o
Well I'm not going to see that movie then.
But after reading your rant it would appear that you'd probably dislike my stories since they'd press your buttons...except for the kitten stomp. But I'm sure my storylines make a lot more sense than...that.
I should have Greg read that...I think he wanted to see it.

I have food poisoning. ;_;
Meri: Yes...that all seems keeping with Alan Moore's style. He's always creeped me out a bit. @_@ He wrote an erotic graphic novel called Lost Girls; it's about the sexual awakening of the girls from Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan and The Wizard of Oz. Definitely squicks me out, like stumbling on porn fanart of a beloved childhood cartoon character.
I'll still see Watchmen (eventually) if only because I'm contractually obligated to see every comic book/video game movie that gets released.

my hubby and I watched Watchment at a 9am showing on Saturday XD; I thought the storyline was alright, but, ugh, everything else that Meri wrote was true.. and we saw it on IMAX so it was all huge. I spent a good portion not looking at the screen.

Meriko Awa...I went to see "Watchmen" with Hubby and regretted it mightily. I felt unclean as I left the theater. Not just slimy or dirty...UNCLEAN. crying You too huh? :'D *Shares some sweet ferret images to help with Meri's bad experience* I thought the movie was ok, or even decent, but honestly the length of the film was daunting at best... [OMG Short Rant] WHAT THE HELL WAS UP WITH THE BLUE SAUSAGE FEST?! I officially saw more p***s than I ever wanted to with that film >3[End rant].
