Meilikki asked for chicken broth and was broguth that in due time. She sipped on it lightly while watching and listening, not bothering to talk or follow as people left the room. Things were rather chaotic right now, weren't they?

She shrugged. "Most do not offer help unless they expect payment in return." She opened an eye and looked at the feather. "They are good for arrows. that is the only interest I hold in them.

Piper woke in her usual manner from reverie, quietly and slowly, letting her senses come back to full slowly from the trance like state. She clearly had been having a horrible week...which only seemed to get exponentially worse. Between the enemies both afar and arms length, stress was a staple. Piper? She'd been unusually quiet the last two days, short worded when she did talk and in a way kept slightly to herself. Usually fletching. Was even that way to Kieran and Malik as well. Lightly a hand came up to touched at her still bandaged neck, then to touch at her cheek...which indeed was bearing a two day old mark that was slightly hand shaped. Damn that overly pale skin of hers from being surface elf and not seeing the sun in oh twenty years. A look to Malik beside her before she ran a hand over her face, pushing her hair back some and sitting up. Another day... Why had she been so quiet? Zahara had gotten her to thinking...pointing out actions of a drow, and finding them steadfast in Piper. And she couldn't deny them...maybe her estranged friend was right...the surface elf that she was was, indeed slipping away from her. A sigh and she reached under her pillow, drawing out her collar to run fingers over the cool metal.

Kieran had been away for a few hours by now, as per his usual schedule. Though he wasn't feeling well at all. Then again he hadn't been so for two days, and it was just worst today. Slightly feverish, aching muscles, he was a little stiff...reveries were hard to get in and out of. Not to mention he felt lethargic and almost constantly sick to his stomach.

Though that didn't seem to stop his get up and go...no he was usually being told to quit and go rest. Note to him...start carrying more counters to these kinds of things on this. And why hadn't he used any avaliable to him here? Personally he didn't want to risk a doubled reaction. He was currently sitting on his bed, cross legged with Raziel on his knee, scribbling away at a journal despite all his dicomfort.

Sevilin had already been there for quite some time. His two days? A constant paranoia combined with enforced warding and what not where he was now, and also some scouting in case he wanted to relocate himself...he was a private elf and he liked to keep it that way.

Dark and early mornings? Despite the...happenings...of late, he had continued in them with Zahara as if nothing was the matter and nothing had ever happened. How? Well Sevilin had learned the wonderful skill of detachment. He could loose an arm and be just dandy about it the next day. So again, here he sat, in the dining room idle going about his runic scribbles.

Lessons had been tense and awkward for the last two days, not really attempting to do any hands on learning, merely studying the runes layed out in the books. She was idly tracing over them with one finger, her mind still screaming at her over the events of the last few days. But she pushed them from her mind and attempted to focus on her studies. Every once in a while she'd glance up at him, study him for a moment and then return her gaze back to her book. She still hadn't really talked to Piper ever since she'd slapped her and tossed accusations at her and Zahara was beginning to miss being around her. But she was still slightly irritated with the surface elf, though that irritation blew into full blown anger when it came to Malik. She longed to beat him severely but knew she'd never actually get that chance. So back to the books and studying...joy. "How much longer?"

To make things more interesting, or mostly jsut because he was bored, he bet one ale that the same trick wouldn't work twice. Thus, wearing the cloak of Malik's Presence, The shadow drew out the sword that was shieved on his belt, an odd feeling, and held it before some of the potent runic wards. He waved the weapon, which forced all of the wards to react.

Aella knowcked on Meilikki's door, hoping that this was the right one and she hadn't gotten lost. She had a habit of doing that. Inside Malik's fortress just confused her.

SHe found the Oracle already awake and sitting up in bed. In the last two days she had gain much of the strength that she had lost, but her body looked to be in a lot of pain still. There was only so much healers could do, she supposed.

"Feeling better today?'

"Somewhat."

Cedric followed Aella, his weapons more appropreately adorning his clothes, the katana sitting nicely on his left hip, the spear and claymore getting along nicely diagonally across his back. His rather plan clothes disguised his elfish chain mail rather elogently, to the point where only other elves familiar with that style could notice it, unless you naturally assumed that it was there. He added a bag of marbles to his repritore of weaponry, incase he needed them in a sudden jam. Each time he walked towards this keep, he felt an increasing need to be prepaired for war. He could feel it in his bones, the distant march of feet. The thunderous stomp of military minded foes marching to the beat of a war drum, singing songs of drinking the blood of all who stood in their way. Then again, Cedric was paranoid at times.

He figured he should say hello, so he did. "Greetings."

"Greetings, Cedric Songblade. You also feel the need for weaponry when near this place." More of a statement than a question.

"You haven't been out of bed at all since I was here, have you?"

"Once two days ago."

She sighed and grabed a hairbrush from the nightstand. "really, you should take more care of yourself.

"I really haven't had much ener..." But she was cute off with another 'tsk' from Aella as the girl started to brush out her hair.

Cedric chuckled, "Aella certainly enjoys her time with you." He really did not have much to say at the moment, he was tired from his constant companionship with a certain ship captain who missed him dearly over the years. Something he was not entirely confident about, nor ascertively interesting in persuing. He was only six hunderd and some years old, he still had a great deal of time to investigate such things, like the remainder of eternity.

After losing his homeland, he really was not in much of a rush to decide things.

He looked up to her, looking off as he checked his internal sense of time. "Fifteen more minutes...you'll survive for that long." Fingers never once stopped thier scribbling on the paper in front of him, which was a mess of black smudged charcoal drawn runes. Either spoke of his distraction, frustration, or he was just having an off day.

Though his attention yanked into the general direction in which he 'lived'. Sevilin frowned...were they at it again? Damnable drow...He fisted a hand, hitting the table as he stood, letting hands prace of the sides of the table and looked to Zahara. "You would do well to tell your little jealous admirer and his keeper to back off of me..." Yes let's turn it against her so he didn't feel perhaps other things.

"Indeed." She winced. "Slow down Aella, you're going to pull it out."

"Oh, stop complaining."

Meilikki sighed, not having the resolve to argue. "So Cedric," said to break the silence of her room. "Why do you stay here so long, when you dearly wish to be doing other things?"

"Sleep is not important." Replied Cedric, honestly giving his opinion of Reverie. "I am here because it is were I can presently do the most good." He smiled honestly, "I know I can use my time to bring about the greater good, but the greater good should never come at the cost of the present good. Sacrifice the current good is an evil act, no matter what you believe or know the ends will be."
PostPosted: Fri May 19, 2006 3:13 pm

"And if you are faced by two conflicting goods? Perhaps obtaining the good of the present will doom the good of the future. Is the preent more important slimpy because it was in line first?"

"That question carries the same weight as the old proverb 'Would you kill one child if you knew it would save millions.'" The elf paused, "Evil acts certainly can bring about good futures, but that does not make them any less evil."

"Judging good and evil comes down to conscience. Weighing an action as either good, or evil, takes into account several factors, most notably morality tought to you by others, or through self acknowldgement. When you have no sense of morality, say, like a certain drow captain we all know, how then do you decide what is good and evil?"

"It comes down to nature. If you have no morals, you must rely on your intuition to provide you with a moral compass. When that compass is drenched inthe blood of the innocent, and consantly barraged by the smell and taste of battle, deciding what is good and what is evil more or less reflects survival versus death. You have no need for good or evil, and you want to live, but you do not know why; thus, good becomes a meaningless word, as does evil. You allow yourself to elect more valuable principles that agree with your need to survive. Thus, 'good' can be used to represent continued existance, and 'evil' can be used to represent the end of existance."

"That is if you cannot comprehend the meaning of good versus evil."

"But what if you do comprehend, and chose to be evil? Or worse, live for the future good? What then guides your decisions?"

"I have only spoken to a certain drow captian a few times, and I have spoke to many of his slaves, and a few elves who know him. I have come to the conclusion that he lives only for chaos."

"Now, if he lives for chaos, where doest that place people who live for good, or people who live for evil?"

"I who live for good, am merely a tool that can be used to stop those who live for evil. Those who live for evil are merely a tool that can be used to create evil for those who live for good to stop. In doing so, chaos ensues."

"Most people do not enjoy being the pawn of such worthless games or amusements, but there is little they can do to escape it, because he who lives for chaos has something that neither the good or the evil can possess. He has an acceptance of both good, and evil. He is both good, and evil together, at every moment, calculating how best to persue general chaos."

"You asked me, is the present more important than the the future? The answer will be yes, simply because living in the future will only allow the evil of the present to swell because some people are able to manipulate all the pieces, and make an eternal bleeding of woe."

"I would rather have a present were some people can live their lives without being consumed by the wilds of the present, and the only way to ensure that is by creating a way to stop chaos and evil. This may bode poorly for the future, and may even destory the present, but that is still more important than pretending that if I do nothing at all, everything will be better in the future."

"Do I not enjoy the sound of my own voice, or is it merely my acceptance that I know in the future, I will not have company to share it with?"
PostPosted: Fri May 19, 2006 3:45 pm

"I seem to know a few elves who like the sound of their own voices. If I did not also enjoy, I would be very annoyed right now." She offered a soft smile.

"How do you judge me then?" Asked seriously but conversationally. "Someone who lives, often preventing the good of the present, to save the good of the future? Am I spared simply becuase I know the consqeunce of every action?"

"Am I evil to allowed a child with a desease to die, having said desease die with him, because I know it would destroy his village? Am I evil for killing the boy, or good for sparing the rest of the world such greif?"

"Perhaps if I manipulate someone into a present that is evil, only because I know their future is good?" SHe would have watched Cedric if she could see him.

Aella was lost at this point, so she didn't bother to speak up.

Jarlaxle shruged, he was not surprised that Sevilin didn't come, but that did make the elf feel rather suspicious. Sevilin stood against him with seeemingly little effort, he even made major combat mistakes and survived. He took very dangerous risks, risks that would have many brave fencers dead, and was still standing.

Was he afraid, or merely bored?

Jarlaxle shieved the sword, again a rather odd feeling, and turned towards Malik's lair. He would have to go visit the drow personally then. If he didn't wish to get others involved, he would have to deal with the consequences.

At this point, Jarlaxle would have to chace Sevilin into oblivion. Jarlaxle lived, and survived the fight unarmed, Sevilin walked away with injuries of his own making. The fight ended more or less because Jarlaxle wanted to fight Sevilin alone. He didn't want anyone to get in his way, he did not want to cut through people to get to Sevilin.

Another drow materialized beside him, Ad'non the wizard appeared wearing a rather dark coloured cloak, over his dark red robe. "Do you really think marching on Malik will get you very far? You will have to cut through all of the guards, then Onyx, then Piper, then Zahara, then Malik, to get what you want."

"You say that like its difficult." Jarlaxle retorted.

"It is, because it makes life very complicated."

The general sighed, he knew that he could only fight Sevilin out side of the keep. "I guess I'll just wonder about, and wait for him to come outside."

"He might not come alone."

"Then, if they die, its there fault."

"Not all of the preprations are secured. Vierna is giving us a hard time."

"Her actions are meaningless."

"So are yours."

"Indeed." The duet disappeared from Sevilin's lair.
