"We could watch one on my computer if you want to use headphones," Toby suggested. He knew that distracting Maia was hard, and headphones went way back.
"What are you in the mood for?"

Headphones? Maia was tempted by the offer, but she settled into the couch and opened Netflix. "I don't know, something new? What's your favorite movie?" Maia asked. She began flipping through the titles.
"Do you want popcorn?"

"You've seen my favorite movies," Toby said with a chuckle. He stroked Maia's hair, already trying to soothe her nerves.
"No, I'm good without. I could make some if you want, though?" He was worried to leave her for any span of time lest the storm rush in.

Maia shook her head. She looked back to the tv, and the offered Toby the remote. "Pick something, love," she said. It didn't matter what it was, as long as it was something. "Do you think Dari and Cody will be alright?" She asked.

"Of course they will," Toby said as he settled in and scrolled through the movies. "They have to build apartments strong nowadays. Cody's building has been surviving storms for years."
He chose a comedy, knowing drama may have a storm scene of its own, and kissed Maia's cheek.

Maia nodded, and smiled in relief. She'd never seen a disaster movie, but she'd imagined the building falling down around them. "I love you," she said, capturing his lips quickly.
The wind began to gust outside.

"I love you too," Toby said, and he entirely ignored the wind outside in favor of kissing Maia and stroking her arm. It was bound to be a rough night.

Maia didn't seem to notice the wind. She kissed Toby again. She nestled closer to him and leaned against his shoulder. "It's a good movie," she said, glancing towards the tv.

Toby craned his neck to see is Maia was blankly staring. That was a good sign that she'd turned off and might start to panic when her resolve wore away.

Maia wasn't really watching the movie. Her eyes kept wandering back to Toby. She kissed his cheek. "What should we do for dinner tonight?"

Well, that might be a good thing? Toby smiled at her. Hm. Dinner. Something they already had in the house.
"Pizza?" Homemade, of course.

"Pizza sounds good," Maia agreed. She smiled at Toby. "We've got everything we need for it?" Well. This was progress. She hadn't glanced towards the windows.
A loud crash sounded outside. Then another, and a flash lit up the windows. Maia swallowed. "Maybe I'll go make that popcorn," she muttered.

"We do," Toby nodded. It'd be a little bit of a pizza adlib but that was fine. Then the thunder came. He smiled softly and stroked Maia's face.
"Do you want to go together?" Maybe the further they got from windows the more comfortable she'd feel.

"Alright," Maia agreed, giving Toby a small smile. She took his hand. "I'm amazed Peaches isn't awake," she said, looking to the cat. He'd probably wake up once they went to the kitchen.

"Can you really tell?" Toby asked as they passed the cat. He squinted when he was happy too, and while he was breathing evenly Toby had never seen the cat seem particularly upset. He tried to listen for snoring but heard none as they crossed into the kitchen.
"Alright, we're going to have to cheat with the dough because we don't have time to make our own. Next time we'll plan ahead."
