Musuu I wouldn't pay for Gaia unless I had a job to pay for it.
Also the parents come into the issue -- my mom might not even let me pay for a membership if it comes to that. Lots of people would be loss, and I think they know that. Since I must be stupid, I'd like someone to show me where they said they'd be going subscription only. All I've seen them do is send out a pretty standard survey asking about a lot of possibilities, one of which was sounding out the users on the idea of some content that is for subscribing users. Some. Not turning Gaia into a pay only site.

It never came to mind that all of Gaia would be a pay only site, but those that did pay would be given certain options that those that stayed on the free site wouldn't get. Still..I wouldn't mind paying, even if it's only to get a few different features from anybody else. But then again, I'm a freakin' Gaia addict and still trust the admins. sweatdrop

Still..I wouldn't mind paying, even if it's only to get a few different features from anybody else. But then again, I'm a freakin' Gaia addict and still trust the admins. sweatdrop I think part of the problem is that a lot of people can't separate the idea of an independently run survey asking reasonable questions about various possibilities from emminent certainty. Then there's the ones who can't understand the idea of something being a partial change, in this case parts of Gaia that are subscription only. I wouldn't mind an area of towns with nicer or larger houses... Maybe even something like one letter a month as part of the subscription. Most of Gaia already pays plenty for letters or has others pay for them. But I think most of it is that there's a small segment of Gaia that understands what the survey was really about and views this as a chance to exaggerate and exacerbate the confusion. Its like trolling that they can't get in trouble for, and even easier given the fact that about 80% of Gaia is a raging mob waiting for someone to pass out the pitchforks and torches. Personally, I trust the Admins implicitly... after all, they have yet to ******** us over, and have done tons for us... often wonderful little unexpected things. People forget this too quickly when the pixels hit the fan.

I've been trying to avoid the talk about the survey thing since it came out, since everyone seems to have radical ideas about it.

Streamjumper So, out of curiosity, what did my disembodied voice sound like? I don't think you're one of the few AGers to have heard it for real, but I'd like to see how the reality matches your dream. I don't remember. sweatdrop Just one of those dream things where I could tell it was you.

You know what I think might shut people up? A report of how much it costs monthly to maintain this website. lol
People say they make tons from advertising, but I rarely see banners or pop ups. Besides that, the whole paypal thing is because they're a vendor with paypal and there are probably regulations for that kind of thing.
Anyways, I'm guessing 90% of their income is the donation letters. And now that server prices have gone up 300% like lanzer was saying, they need to move.
Just to put that out there though, people might shut up.

I had a weird dream about Gaia a few nights ago.
It was about Sasha, and she was going to be murdered at 12:00 PM, and like. Because the Wraith Cloak was in the back of her shop and the front was the Halo.
...then suddenly Kawaita Sakebi started playing at Sasha was in Anzu's school uniform, and Gino was killing people because he was angry at fact Sasha was gonna die.
And I solved the mystery and Ruby went to jail. O_o

Shoujo Phoenix Zero Omega Shoujo Phoenix And from what I've seen of The L Word, they don't stay very loyal and stuff... or are wishy-washy about their sexuality.Blah. People portay homosexuals like they're actually different than heteros. That is what bothers me. Yar, I caught some of it on Monday out of boredom and needing something to watch. What was up with that chick (near the end of the show) who said she didn't want to screw that guy online then ended up saying she would? I'm not sure. I didn't catch the new one on Sunday... sweatdrop Ah, no problem then. Just curious. xp
