"Can you look it up?" Kevin asked. "If there's one here, we can find it! We'll go on every ride!"
"I'll go on after I see them go," Maia promised Toby, swaying their hands.

Dari pulled out his phone and began Googling for the longest roller coaster ride. Tallest, fastest...
"Don't worry about it. If they're not your thing, they're not your thing," Toby said, smiling to Maia.

Kevin peered at the phone to look too. He stood in line, and smiled at Dari. "I'm really glad you're going on the rides with me," he said.
"Are they anything like airplanes?" Maia asked. "I've gotten better with airplanes."

Dari smiled.
"The longest ride seems to be the Steel Dragon in Japan," he said, "and I'm glad I am too."
Toby shook his head. "No, not really. They're not nearly as high, but when they go down you get that... stomach-flippy feeling like when you go over a steep hill in the car."

"All the way in Japan? But we'll never go there!" Kevin complained, and looked up at the rollercoaster they were going to be going on first. "I think this one's good enough," he decided.
"If you sit with me, I'll be fine," Maia smiled at Toby. As long as it didn't feel like an airplane, she'd give it a shot!

"Well, I'm sure you'll go to Japan if you become an agent," Dari reassured him and looked up at the towering structure. For a moment he looked blankly curious, and then he grinned. "Come on." He headed for the line.
Toby smiled. He wanted to warn her that it couldn't stop once it started or that the Gs would come whether she closed her eyes or not, but that all seemed like fearmongering. Instead he just nodded. "This one isn't too loopy. You should be fine."

"I'm going to be an agent! The first ever unseelie agent, and then I can work with you and Toby too! Can we all go to Japan together? We could all go on the rollercoaster! ....But what if it closes down by then?" He followed Dari to the line eagerly. "Are you excited?"
"I'm not going on any that go upside down," Maia said, decisively. "Kevin seems really happy," she added, giving Toby a smile.

"Maybe some day," Dari said, and he shrugged slightly. "Of course I am! I've never been able to do this before."
"You don't have to," Toby said with a chuckle. He bumped Maia with his hip and grinned. Then he nodded. "He does. I'm glad."

The day went perfectly. The group went on (most) of the rides Kevin suggested, and by the time it was time to head home, the kelpie was too full and too tired to be disappointed that they'd missed any. "We can go again someday, right?" He asked.
He was assured that they would.
A few days later, an alert came to Maia's phone, causing Toby's and Dari's phone to sound their text tones. Maia read the alert and paused. She didn't say anything, but headed out to the backyard.

Toby and Dari picked up their phones almost simultaneously, although Dari was currently at Cody's place.
Toby checked his messages and, as it loaded, watched Maia walk out of the house. Huh.

The message warned of hurricane winds, lightning, and the chance for flash flooding.
Maia looked around, and, failing to spot Peaches, frowned in concern. She looked up at the sky. "Toby, is Peaches inside?" She asked.

Aw, hell. These days were never fun. Toby wasn't bothered by storms (In fact, he'd sort of enjoyed them before Maia) but everyone had their thing.
He stood to look for Peaches and found him across the room in an armchair, belly-up.
"Yeah, he's right here!" he called out to Maia.

Oh good! Peaches was inside. Maia cast one more worried look at the sky before heading inside herself. She went over to Toby. "The sky doesn't look that bad, maybe it'll pass over us." She knelt to stroke Peaches. "I was worried you'd get caught out in it, kitty," she said.

"Nah, I'd always go out to get him," Toby said. He had initially worried about Peaches getting over the fence, but the cat hadn't tried once. At least that was how it seemed. If he was going on escapades, he was doing it sneakily.
As for the storm, he had no idea.
"Don't worry about it. We'll be fine." He pulled her into his arms.

Maia kissed Toby's cheek. "I know, I would, too," She had, but was pleased to see Peaches lazing about inside. "Movie?" She suggested, gesturing to the couch. Maybe she could ignore the storm.
"Pick something with me."
