"Hmm...." Lin didn't know about that.
Her Daddy always said war was about stupid people and people trying to fix stupid people's mistakes or something like that. He wans't fond of wars nor was her Mommy.
"Maybe..."

"Unless there's something else you'd be interested in hearing about," Earendil shrugged. "I mean, in history, you could basically choose any topic and get an entire lecture."
He paused for a moment. "If you want."

"Oh....." Lin murmured.
She wasn't sure if she wanted to hear on history.
"I don't know.... is there any animals that aren't where I live that live here?"

"Well," Earendil began; then he stopped. How was he supposed to know? After all, he had never been to her world, nor had he heard all that much about it.
"Probably," he replied slowly, thoughtfully, scratching at the back of his head. "But ... I wouldn't know which ones. If you'd like, we could probably do a lesson on the animals, and you can tell me which ones aren't in your world. How does that sound?"
He grinned down at her.

"That would be great!" Lin pipped up, "After all, I know lots of animals... and Mommy has a lot of animals, but you can talk to them like Nina... like Wish. Wish gives rides sometimes..."

Earendil remembered back to the big cat that had visited when he was barely a year old and smiled faintly.
"She certainly would be big enough to give you rides," he agreed. "We don't have any talking animals here, though ... just the unicorns, and only if you're lucky."
Unicorns were proud, they didn't like talking with inferiors.

Lin blinked back, "Why not? Are they shy?"
Why else wouldn't they talk, if they talked then they would talk to them right? Of course Lin didn't understand that pride had anything to do with it.

Earendil shrugged. "I don't know. Probably some incident that occurred a few hundred years ago or something that they haven't forgotten about. Perhaps I could show you the stables sometimes, we have a few of them in there. Maybe they'd talk to you, you're an oddity here."

"You think so?" Lin replied, "That would be nice, I've never talked to a unicorn... unless you include Nina... but Nina is slightly one sided.... and she speaks and it's hard to understand."
Since Nina still spoke in riddles most of the time.

"Sure," Earendil grinned. "But after lessons, all right?" he added as they reached the bottom of the stairs. He started down the path to the castle, wiping a bead of sweat from his brow. "And I need a bath before anything."

"What will I do while you bath?"Lin asked, she didn't mind that he needed a bath, because really he needed one from the looks of it, but she didn't think she could watch or anything.

"You could head down to lunch, I'm sure you must know where it is by now," Eärendil suggested. "Or if you would prefer to wait for me, you could wait in my room, or in your own ... or perhaps you would prefer to wait with Sir Valdemar? Though he doesn't eat with us ..."
He headed inside and towards the tower. "Whatever you'd like," he nodded.

Lin didn't really head down there that often, but she knew where it was, and when she had it was often after everyone else had their meal. Not that she minded, but she wanted to see what it was like when everyone else was there.
"I'll head down to lunch and wait for you there and I'll still be there when you get out."

Eärendil nodded and lowered Lin to the ground. "I'll see you later then," he told her, grinning; and he disappeared into the tower and up to his room to bathe.

Lin waved as she ran down the one hallway towards the dining room taking a skidding turn. She didn't mind running by herself it was fun and she always had enough room. Being her size it wasn't hard. Once she got there she slipped through the crack of the door (it took a large effort to push).
Now the question was... where to sit?
