"I'm kind of tried. I'll take the skin later. Now, are you coming to bed or not?"
Storm tried for a faux stern look, but failed miserably.

Melanie laughed, then stood up and walked to the cabin, opened the door, and held it open. "After you." She yawned, then shook her head and walked in after Storm entered.

Storm nodded her thanks to Melanie and moved to her side of the bunk. She stripped down to her undershift in a few practiced pulls of her various clasps on her clothing; Storm hung her weapon's belt up on a hook neck to the head of the bed. The drow pointed at the bed.
"Your side, mine. Respect the boundaries, dearie, or I will bite."
She climbed in and snuffed out the oil lamp.
"'Night."

"G'night." Melanie said as she took off her jacket and boots, placing them beside her side of the bed. Then she plopped down on her side and instantly fell asleep.

Early the next morning, Storm awoke to the sound of someone pounding against her door. With a small groan, she rolled out of the warm bed to pad barefoot towards the door. She yanked it open to find Stilgar.
"By Lloth's Eight Leg! What is it?"
"The port is open; we've docked and the port's master is asking for you."
Storm nodded.
"Tell him I'll be up in a few minutes."

Melanie opened her eyes unwillingly at the constant sound of someone pounding on the door. She heard the conversation between Storm and her first mate but failed to actually process the words because of the fact that she'd just woken up. When Stilgar shut the door, Mel sat up slowly, yawned, and stretched her arms out, then proceeded to just sit there until she was fully awake. "What was that all about?"

"Nothing; just a male I have to go place nice with."
Storm returned to the bed and got dressed quickly and efficiently. Last of all, she strapped on her weapon's belt and raked a hand through her mussed white hair; it would have to do for now, as there was no time for her to pull it back into a tight pony tail or braid as was her norm.
"Stay in bed, if you so wish; you shan't be needed for another hour or so."
The drow shut the door behind her, effectively cutting off all sounds of the mass of activity on the deck.

Melanie nodded then closed her eyes and fell back to sleep. About an hour later, she woke up and she noticed that there was a new trincket that was on the table in the middle of the room. Curious, she got up and walked to the table to see what it was. It was a gold ring inlaid with sapphire and emerald stones. Melanie glanced quickly at the door to make sure that no one was coming. After a few seconds of no enterances, she took the ring and held it up to her eye level to get a better look at it. It was a really, really nice ring, worth alot of money if she decided to barter it. She smiled then put the ring on her finger and walked back to the bed and sat down in it.

Storm finished up the business with the ports' master. Or in other words, she had bribed all the right authorities for all the right amounts in all the right offices. She headed back to her cabin to get Melanie back up; the drow knocked on the door once before poking her head in.
"Mel! Time to get up; we're off loading and going ashore."

Without a word, Melanie jumped off the bed, put on her boots and coat, then walked out the door and onto the deck, dodging the crew as they hurried about the deck. "Ok, what'll you have me do?" Mel asked Storm in a raised voice.

"Look pretty; you're going to shore with me. Stilgar is staying on the ship with a small detachment; he'll be directing the off-loading."
Storm turned to give an order to a passing crew-member; when she turned back, she noticed the sun glinting off of Melanie's "new" ring.
"Where did you get that little bauble?"

"Oh, this?" Mel said as she looked at her finger with the ring on it, then looked at Storm, completely calm. "I bought it off of a friend back at the Tavern. Nice, isn't it?" She smiled evenly, hoping Storm wouldn't see through her, although her chances of the captain not finding out was slim.....it was just so pretty.

Storm only smiled, seeing past Mel's little white lie.
"Very nice. It looks good on you; I like it."
She glanced around, watching the ant-like activity stretched out on the deck below her. The drow smiled again. They'd have to leave in a few moments, but she enjoyed the action while she could.

Mel breathed a small, quiet sigh of relief-grateful that Storm wasn't in a bad mood. Melanie took in the sight of all the sailors scurrying around the port, and glad that she would get to feel the stability of dry land again.

"Do you miss your tavern, Mel?"
Storm glanced away from the activity below to the human at her side; a quiet smile stayed on her lips.
"We'll leave in a minute. You'll enjoy your time on land, I don't doubt it. We'll be here for a while; we need to take on fresh supplies and a few more leads."
