"Hmm..." Donovan muttered as he took out a hankerchief, now how was he going to explained this?
He gently tapped Skye on the shoulder, so he would look at her as he would demonstrate blowing one's nose, before getting her to do the same. In theory by doing so it should help in balancing it out, though he now couldn't think of the reason only something about the pressure making the inner ear balance out.

Skye blinked at Donovan for a moment, then just stared; then she raised one hand and pointed at him. "Gampa got yucky in you nose?" she asked, her voice almost sounding timid, very thick. Her brow was furrowed, her eyes half-closed.
But it wasn't fear that was making her like this, it was the pressure that was pounding in her head.

Kara smiled a bit, watching Donovan, she had never seen him like this before. It was certainly new for her, but he was always surprising her.

Donovan nodded as he pointed to her, "Skye has too," he held it out to her, "Blow, hard," he told her slowly and carefully.
Hoping that she would, and hoping even more that it would work.

Skye took the handkerchief suspiciously and held it up in front of her.
"Skye not feel yucky," she complained; but she put the hanky to her nose and tried to blow a little. Then she blinked and held out the hanky to Donovan. "En'ty," she told him tonelessly.

"I know," Donovan told her slowly, "But I need you to blow harder, to try and set your ears right," he rubbed with one finger under one of her ears, "Try again."

Skye nodded slowly and tried again, this time blowing as hard as she could. The pressure mounted in her ears until suddenly she felt something pop.
She yelped and dropped the handkerchief, covering her ears with her hands and squeezing her eyes shut. After a moment she blinked and let go of her ears, and realized ... they were fine ...
She blinked at Donovan. Then her face split in a wide grin, and she lunged from Kara's arms towards Donovan, her wings fluttering excitedly once again, a loud giggle escaping from her throat.
"Sekoo, Gampa! Sekoo! Ah better!"

Donovan caught her, not sure if she would fall since he didn't know if they could fly yet. He nodded at her seriously, "Good, otherwise it wouldn't be pleasent for any of us."
It looked like the tactic still worked.

Skye yawned and put her head on Donovan's shoulder. "Gampa," she murmured softly. "Skye s'eepy."
Her wings settled into their regular flutter, and she closed her eyes.

"Yea, being in pain tends to do that," Donovan muttered, "Time for bed then."
It would just mean they would have to make sure she ate in the morning, he thought to himself. He wasn't going to be the one to wake her for eating. Miserble kids weren't happy kids, which didn't make for happy adults.
"I'll put her to bed," Donovan told Kara as he made his way to their room.

"Thanks," Kara replied as she picked up the forgotten hankerchief and folding it carefully before getting Miyu to follow her into the kitchen.
She took one glance back at Donovan's retreating form and smiled. He was very good, though business like as usual.

Ulrich came out of the kitchen just then, and raised one eyebrow as Donovan passed him down the hallway.
"Something happen?" he asked Kara cautiously. "Is Skye all right?

"Storms don't really agree with Skye all that well," Kara explained turning her gaze away from the two, "She's really sensitive to pressure changes from the looks of it, she's okay now, but now she's really tired."

He didn't feel comfortable in putting her into Kara's bag. After all what adult in their right mind puts a kid in a bag? Even if the kid preferred to be in a bag that just wasn't right. So instead he tucked Skye into bed, putting her in the middle so they could sleep there later.

"Ah," Ulrich nodded. "That explains how she was acting all day."
He paused as there was another long roll of thunder.
"This one could last a while," he murmured, scratching at the back of his head. "But if you can help it, don't mention the storm to Ulani at all. She and my sister composed a song when they were teens, her thoughts tend to wander back sometimes."
