Samulin Xenos Mortium Waitm since the Kroots are mercenaries, couldn't any race technically field them? In chapter approved it gave the list the WASN'T allowed to use them at all, the tau were amoungst the ones who cant use the merc kroot. The are also some armies that state that they cannot use non-human allies or allies altogether for that matter (ex. divergent space marine army with stand alone, dark angels, other). question on my end..... in the tau army, it doesnt say that you cannot use dupplicates of the same item, is that just me or is it possible to have 2 hard-wired drone controllers and 4 gun drones? Space Marines, Sisters of Battle, Tau, Necrons and Tyranids are NOT allowed to use the Kroot Merc list. So Orks, Imperial Guard, Chaos, Daemonhunters, and Eldar ARE allowed to use them.

Alot of people use Aun'shi that I know of. He gets a whole boatload of special abilities for only 47 points more than your standard Ethereal. The real thing that keeps me from fielding him is that I don't want to Have an army that's just "Aunshi's retinue" I want my own army with it's own fluff. I'll field him once in a while... but not most of the time.

ShasO Bane Something I plan to do is make a Character simlar to Aun'shi and use his stats for him. I find that a little iffy. The whole point of Aun'shi's crazy abilities is that he's a special character, rather than a random highly skilled Ethereal. And honestly, I'd prefer if I could just give my regular Ethereal a Hard-wired Shield Generator, because that's the biggest thing I'd want. Everything else is just window dressing.

Ouch, Shas'o Bane, fix that URL. And the purpose of the Vespids was pretty clear as soon as some of the rumors about thier weapons started flying around. S2 AP3 flamers that count as S8 for instakill? Vespids are a fix to the Tau's absolute and complete inability to deal with Necrons, and to a leser extent, Marines.
In other news, I hear we're getting alot more than a simple rehash of the Codex with some rules fixes. Here's a compilation of most of the rumors I've heard and pieced together:
I hear that w'ere getting the Vespids, who are basic infantry sized, not Crisis sized as rumored. They have a S5 AP3 gun but no confirmation on the rumored S2 flamer that counts as S8 for instakill purposes. The plastic Stealth Suits are actually going to be XV-16's and be a new unit, so the old SS will still be fieldable. Broadsides will be getting a hard point option in Stabilizers, which will probably make them Slow and Purposeful. I've also heard Suits may now take Targeting Arrays as a hardpoint option. BS4 suits with two weapons and a HW Multi-tracker actually gives me a reason to field Shas'vre Bodyguards.
From what I hear, Aun'shi is no longer a special character. He's gone and in his place we're getting two other characters. One Ethereal, an Aun'va'denta, and a female suit commander called Shadowsun/Darkside. All I know is that she's in a suit and has some kind of special, experimental weapon. Rumors have her being alternately in a Stealth suit or a Crisis, so all I know is that is she has a suit.
Also, I hear we're getting some fixes to Pathfinders. They'll have an alternate Devilfish that may cost alot less, and rail rifles no longet suffer from "Gets Hot." I've heard some noise about a new heavy support choice being a Pathfinder with three sniper drones that he controls, with the ability to pick specific models out of squads.
All in all, it should be excellent. I can hardly wait for April.

All he offered was his prowless with the Honner Blades. Not alot of power there. But the new Hero sounds nice & im glad that the "Earth Caste" has fixed the rail rifle. It made the option too usless

operationsmo why the heck are they taking aun'shi out. Because first of all, he made no sense. Lets make a race that's all about shooting, and then give them special characters that are only about close combat! Aun'shi was interesting, but not particularly useful. Second of all, he was a geriatric. Aun'shi was something like 45 in the fluff, last I checked. That's like the Tau equivalent of being 80. And this guy was a front line fighter! He just got too old to carry on. Hopefully though, we're going to see some equipment options for the Ethereals that allow them to take armor and (fingers crossed,) Shield Generators, so the pressing need for Aun'shi should be phased out.
