The best way to learn on your own is to look for belly dance vids online and just try to imitate. At first you might look clumsy, but after a while you'll get the hang of it. I never took any real classes. i actually started learning from my friend, jaya(she's a hindu dancer) but she moved and it's been 2+ years since my last lesson. i don't remember what to do with my hands, but i can move my hips^^

Same here, it's been about 2 years since my last lesson. Everyonce in a while I'll find myself doing figure 8s or nalis in the store.

[ Dark Euphoria ] Well I have the skills, but I'd still like to join a class. I tried continuing and self teaching, but I'm impatient and easily distracted. Also, I have a feeling it'll be used as therepy. I do remember one thing though, if it feels weird, you're probably doing it right.

Snake arms are difficult xp I do belly rolls without noticing as well, but to make sure I'm doing them right, I stand sideways and look in the mirror.

I love snake arms. I took a vid of me doing it (didn't come out so good since I took it with my phone and I was holding it), I might post it later. I amuse myself doing belly rolls in front of the mirror. mrgreen
