Vera awoke with a start. Her hand flew to her temple and she leaned forward, gripping the edge of her cot, a sickly feeling welling up in her stomach. The Star Destroyer lurched out of hyperspace and warning klaxons sounded. The girl took a tentative step towards the door before the vessel lurched again, hurling her forward; she used the force to fling the door open and caught her balance, stumbling out and blinking into the low red emergency lights.

She ran to the nearest console and accesed an analysis of the basic situation. The screen hummed and came slowly to life, displaying a dizzying 3-dimensional array of enemy marks around the warship. It had been yanked from hyperspace by a Sith fleet equipped with gravity-well generators and intent on ambush.

Metal shrieks tore across the Destroyer, accompanied by the sounds of explosions. Vera dove for cover as a ceiling panel crashed down, then raced for the bridge, passing blown-out turbolaser stations and closing her eyes to shut out the screams of bloodied crew members strewn about.

She reached the main entry to the bridge, then gasped as the command center disappeared in front of her. She felt intense heat, then intense cold, before the blast door shut itself to seal out the vacuum.

The three humans had gotten out of the battle completely unscaved it seemed.

Calra wasn't so lucky, a concussion rifle blast had caught her as she raced to engage, hurling her to the ground and knocking her out. Revak had drug her behind cover and was quietly tending her injuries.

Her helmet sat on a nearby crate, its black plasteel lenses shattered and the body of the helmet scarred with debris and heat. Calra's nostrils, and earholes were bleeding from the concussive damage and her leg was twisted in a direction clearly marking it as being broken.

Revak's eyes were begining to well with tears as he pulled the armor off her... Damn it, she'd had to go out and run straight into the battle.

Calra's eyes opened flashing with pain, "Revak..."

"I know," He answered pulling her toward him. Through the force his minds eye dove into her body, sensing the damage that had been done. He could try and repair it, but it wasn't something he was good at. With a snarl he hissed at the three humans, "If you haven't noticed one of us needs medical aid!"

Link glanced over at the Rapora and cursed.
Quickly he sprinted over and pulled a medpac from his belt.
He drew a small capsule from the pack and read the instructions.
I hope this works on them....
He drew out three blue tablets from the capsule.
"Have her chew and swallow these." He said giving them to Revak. "And stop crying. Your associate wont get better with tears."
He looked to the leg with a frown.
"That will have to be set back into place. Do you have a medical scanner by chance?"
PostPosted: Sun Sep 24, 2006 9:16 am

Revak glanced at the tablets and frowned, his mind sensing the chemical composition of the tablets... He tossed them aside, "That stuff could kill her!" Revak grabbed a bag from one of his pockets and thumbled with it, "Damn it!"

Calra moaned, "Revak... my leg."

"I know Calra, what about your pelvis?" Revak asked, knowing that a broken pelvis was almost always fatal for a Rapora.

"Bruised, I think." Calra's eyes lolled in their sockets.

Revak handed the bag to Link, "Theres a syringe in there as well as some bottles of nanites, get them out for me." Then he turned back to Calra and pulled a medical scanner from her belt and began scanning her.

His mind began recording the results, a broken leg, three cracked ribs, a pair of broken tail bones, and internal bleeding. "Rakata spit, she's bleeding internally." Revak glanced at Link, "Do you have any skill at healing. We need to stabilize her."

"I didnt think bacta would have much effect on an unkown race." he muttered as he drew out the nanites and the syringe."I can Stabilize her, perhaps even stop her internal bleeding and fix up her ribcage, but that is the best I can do."
He presed a hand to the Rapora's chest, took a breath, and then focused, His mind's eye letting him observe as he worked the living health of the world around him into the alien's broken body.
He remained silent, focused on his work, and imobile.

Iust watched silently as the man tried to heal the wounded rapora. There is nothing I can do for her, I'm no healer. He decided to inspect the smoldering remains of his craft. Walking over to the burning craft he inspected the remains. He found the remains of what looked to be a jury-rigged bomb nestled by what used to be the engine of the ship. Iust sighed, after he finished off Graka he was going to have to buy a new ship. Iust turned back to see if the others needed assistance.

Revak watched as Calra's bleeding began to stop, a combination of Link's force use and the effect of the nanites acting as blood platelets. Still, her blood pressure remained dangerously low. Frowning Revak pulled a small object from the Raporan med-pack. With a sigh he pulled off his armored top and tightened a tourniquet around his arm. He pulled a needled IV from the packet and slid it into his arm, he took the other end and slid it into Calra's arm.

As the transfusion began Revak to think about the real vulnerabilities of his own body. Their creators had given them an autoimmune system of unparralled strength, one that made them all but completely invulnerable to Biowarfare and infection. Unfortunately it made most of the treatments used by other races either useless or dangerous. Bacta could cause the autoimmune system to attack the body it was designed to protect, Pain relievers were eliminated before they delivered any effect.

It meant that Rapora were forced to heal the old fashoined way, no bacta, no immune boosters, no healing acceleration.

Calra winced as Link withdrew and stood, "She's stable."

Revak nodded as he finished the transfusion, "I'll need your help to move her." He drew out a comm link and thumbed it on, "Jenel Olo, its Revak. I need your help."

Link stepped back from the alien and heaved a weary sigh.
"This one thinks he lacks the strength to carry your comrade. After the fight and this heling, this one is exausted."
Link flicked a glance to Iust.
"You there, Give this fellow a hand with his comrade if you can. She needs to be moved."

"All right, where are we going to bring her?" Iust says coming over to help Link pick up the wounded rapora.

"Ask him." he said, pointing to Revak. "This one must rest and return to burying these fallen. But since you seem a stout fellow so helping him lift his fallen comrade should seem a small task for you."

Revak snapped his comm link off, "We'll be tacking her to Hanger 12 B. The captain that owns the ship there will help us." He glanced at Calra, "Ready?"

"Yes... I think." She sighed as Revak grabbed her by the armpit and gestured to Iust to do the same. Revak frowned slightly as Iust took hold of Calra. "One, two, three." Revak and Iust lifted the one hundred and fifty kilo Raporan warrior onto their shoulders.

Iust cursed, "Damn she's heavy."

"I'll pretend I didn't here that," Calra said quietly.

As soon as possible, Detre returned to his ship briefly to contact the Commander. Now back, he was required to pay a temporary 100-credit docking fee; he knew, however, it'd be well worth it eventually.

~~~~~~~~
Onderon.
Long ago, Freedon Nadd was banished here, where he became an evil tyrant, and only after much strife was he killed. His temple was a magnificet Sith buriel site on nearby Dxun. The temple, however, wasn't in use by the Sith of late, or even in the last millenia. The last reported incursion anywhere near was in about 4000 BBY, when the Jedi Exile and the current Mandalore went there.
Now, the only trace of Nadd lie in the bloodlines of the Royal Family. For millenia, Onderon has been vigilant of its independance, and never joined the Republic or Empire. It was even wondered if the Yuuzhan Vong discovered their remote world.
As it was, when Elladan's Acclamantor pulled into orbit, he was immediately hailed by an arrogant-looking soldier on the planet surface.
"Vessel, this is Royal Guard Commander Olin. You are trespassing in Onderonian space. Identify yourself."
Elladan replied to the message via viewscreen. "Commander, this is Captain Elshaek'en'etnarudu of the Loyalist Empire, requesting conference with the soverign of Onderon. We come in peace, under Imperial Decree 9-12-345."
It was several minutes before a reply came through. When it did, the man looked a little... distrusting. Perhaps he'd never seen a Chiss. "Her Majesty, Queen Zeltilla, demands why."
Elladan straightened himself, expecting to see her on the viewscreen, but he was denied that honor. "I come on behalf of the recently deceased Emperor Roan Fel, in plea of an allegiance against the Sith-Empire."
"How long until you can make it airborne?" A red droid asked the head scientist.
"We will require a full month to get it past this stage. Its mutation needs more time, and then we must also synthesize an antivirus, so total completion shoudl be near three months, sir."
Ferno was not pleased at all. While Gobindi revealed many secrets, it also cost time and effort to do anything he needed. Sullust would have to wait longer than he had hoped. Delivering that volcanic planet should be easy into the hands of the sith, just like how Bespin suffered from political problems and Bestine from economical ones. Sullust would suffer from biological ones, for a nice change of pace.
"An antivirus is not needed for the time being. Continue on schedule, but notify us the first sign of development. We are far enough behind as is."
The scientist attempted to make amends, but Ferno was not in the mood to listen. HM stunned the scientist, as several guards pulled him away. As if nothing happened, the next scientist took over from where the first left off.
"A demonstration perhaps?" he said, indicating a microscope, before quickly readjusting the image to a screen on the wall. The scientist explained the process of how it worked. It almost surprized him that Ferno did not want to just see results, but gave it little thought as he warmed the dish up. It increased temperature until the screen went berzerk. Every cell began to explode.
"Impressive," HM commented.
"I have to say the results were amplified, sir. The process is slower than that, but I hope the general impression was satisfactory. My counterpart was telling the truth about our timetable; we simply don't have the ability to make the antivirus before the schedule. Short of you using the Force, Mi'lord, to somehow alter these things, there is little we can do. One side affect I must mention is this: the virus creates an excessive amount of crytalized bonds on the outside of its host. I believe this may be a sort of shielding."
Ferno glanced at the screen once more, then turned to HM. The droid looked at him, then turned to the scientist. "Perhaps the Lord will aid your research for the time being."
Iust felt the force of Carla's weight as he helped Revak carry her to Hangar 12B.
"Thank you for the warning, the others and I my not have survived if it were not for you. I am Iust Zalera, you have my thanks, now who are you two, and why did you help us?" Iust asked as they moved to the new hangar.
"The name's Revak, Revak Valar. The bag of limp bones you're carrying is Calra Nordur." Revak smiled slightly at Calra.
"Thanks," She answered with a moan.
"As for why we tried to help... it's a long story."
Ahead, a woman in a stained jumpsuit ran down the ramp of her Action IX Medium Transport, "Revak. What happened?"
Revak sighed, "It's a long story..." Slowly he shook his head, three gun fights in the last couple of minutes, it was a miracle they both weren't being dragged aboard.
The ship captain smiled, "How about the short version."
Revak nodded, "We were attacked by some local sith woman. Then a band of three chiss, when some jedi showed up and stopped us. He runs off when he hears an explosion next door... And we follow him straight into the third gunfight."
Jenel Olo shook her head as she stopped at the edge of the ramp, "Only on Ord Mantell." She stepped aside to let them through, "There's a bed in the aft crew quarters that Calra can have, so long as she doesn't tear it up."
Calra smiled, "Somehow I doubt I'll be tearing anything apart for awhile."
After Revak and Iust laid her down on the bed he straightened, "Alright, I'm headed to the Dead Space. Can I get you anything?"
"Jetfruit, I don't want any alcohol. If they've got a local steak or something..."
"I'll see what I can get you," Revak smiled before turning toward Jenel, "She'll be alright. I'll just sprint her leg and go."
"I'll go with you, you guys saved my hide just a couple days ago, maybe I should just call this repayment." Jenel replied smiling.
Calra watched them go before glancing toward Iust, "Thank you Iust."
