I don't know. confused

Hey everyone! I was wondering if any one could give me some advice on playing tenor sax. You see my teacher switched me from flute to tenor because there was no flute music for Jazz Band and she was tired of my not playing to my full ability because I wasn't finished transposing my music. So if anybody has any good advice for a first time tenor player please PM me. wink

Durza the Shade I want to learn tenor. I don't play a sax yet, though. I play clarinet, and tenor's in the same key, so it will be easy to learn; I'm probably going to play it for pep band this year. 2 things wrong with that. the fingering is totally different and your ligature (mouth part) has to be set totally different. good luck with that!

The only things I can say are drop your jaw and open your throat. And if you have trouble with the pitch on C's and C sharps, put down your bottom three fingers. confused Yeah. Get a teacher.

Keep your fingers close to the keys it makes it easier to play faster. As for your tone just play longtones like holding the middle C and play whole notes. Using a tuner is helpfull in keeping you on the right pitch. Make sure that you dont puff your cheeks it's a horrible habit to have and doesnt help your playing. Projection and sound comes from the chest. Think of your notes as an extension of your voice.
