eol_caladren 2. I go extremely sharp on my upper register on contrabass. Any tips on how to bring the note down? (Without pulling out, because then my lowest octave isn't in tune.just try loosening up your embouchure until it gets in tune.

rcowburn does anyone here appart from me hate the essential elements books? actually, i used the first one in fourth grade when i started. i thought it was very good for beginners. i thought it was a great way to introduce someone to an instrament. the quizes helped me learn about writing music, and the lessons helped me learn about playing it. if you think this series sucks, then try the rubank series. i used it in 5th grade because i was very good. i hated the way they organized everything. the two series compared are like my kind mother, and Hitler himself.

rcowburn i've been playing clarinet for 3 years, does anyone know of an easy way to play the higest b (3 spaces above the staff) if im thinking of the b youre thinking of, then theres only one way to play it, and its pretty easy. (im talking about Bb clarinet, if you play a different kind of clarinet, the fingering/s or difficulty might be different.)

rcowburn does anyone here appart from me hate the essential elements books? i hated it! i used it last year in sixth grade for most of the first semester, our conductor wanted to be through with it as quick as possible and start on real music--i did too. and about the B note, maybe you can look for it's alternate fingering? or use the albert fingering (i think thats the name) or ohler (i think thats the other fingering name) fingering...i've never looked at those two fingeirngs because i'm use to the boehm system of fingering ^^ they use those fingerings in germany mostly o_o but besides that try it and see what happens! (i just read about those two fingerings yesterday night)

There was a song I like in it called Banana Boat, but that was in 5th grade, so I doubt I'll like it now, being in 10th.

thankyou! also i don't like the Abrakadabra Clarinet books my Clarinet teacher is horrible and we use them with him.
i didnt like my old private teacher. he was old and senile. he tried to tap the beat out for me and he went fast then slow and kept changing speeds. i think he quit, so now im not getting lessons except from myself but im still the best clarinet player in my school. i actually only took one lesson from him near the endof sixth grade. he underestimated me.

is your clarinet working right? if it is, then try tightening up your embouchure and/or putting more of the mouthpiece in your mouth. (but make sure you dont look like your gonna swallow it and choke on it!)
