"It's all about working hard and livin' it up. So you guys work hard, while I live it up, got it?"On the outskirts of the Downtown Area now, but there was one last major obstacle before they could get back into the area that they had been before...a swarm of demons that had come along in the wake of all the Megrez Buds stood between they and the subjects that they had intended to study. The drummer was at a loss...even with their devils it was going to be hard to get past so many creatures...his eyes shifted to his companion for a plan but found little in the way of one from either. And so he opened his phone and dialed the number he hadn't wanted to call for a little bit of advice. "Sako? There's a horde in front of me and we can't get through. Is there a summoning terminal nearby?" Touma knew he was going to hear about this when he got back...and he HATED when people said 'I told you so...', or at least when they said it to him. Had to bite the bullet on this one, though. If he came back empty-handed, they'd really grill him.
And so he had been directed to a Terminal nearby, and he swiftly opened his phone and held it up to the kiosk with a level of determination. Makoto had said the devil that was inside of here should have the power to get them through. He had to take her word on that. There was no time to debate as the demons finally caught their scent and approached. ...The power siphoned into him in a matter of seconds...and with burning eyes and a smirk of death he turned to the horde with a grin that promised destruction.

Eiji "Gin" Mishima  Gin took a few more breaths as he tried not to let the tension build up too much, stretching his shoulder. The movement alone caused him to feel pretty sore, but the pain wasn't so bad since letting his body settle in would make it harder to fight. They'd made it back to safety for now to get patched up, and he was just finishing the report...with Nix still helpfully by his side, for now."It looks like there's heavy resistance from the Megrez Buds in the Residential Area right now. We encountered at least three at the time, and I think there are probably more, if their movements were any indication. We were just lucky to escape with the few injuries we had." Gin turned to look at Nix, offering a smile when he noticed how good she looked considering the deadly situation they'd just been through. He needed to recover another jacket from his room, as he was basically bearing nothing but skin and bandages right now on his torso. Still...the day could have been going worse. "Now that we're back here, it'll be good if JPs can look after you. I need to go find Touma. If he's still out there, then I need to make sure nothing happens to him. Look after yourself until I get back...hnn..." Gin rubbed his side as he felt a bit of pain again. "It's all about working hard and livin' it up. So you guys work hard, while I live it up, got it?"Possession...the demon-slaying method that works 100% of the time, 60% of the time! Of course, you couldn't fight every single battle possessed by a demon with that kind of power or a human body would probably just explode or melt like that guy from Raiders of the Lost Ark, which...well, if somebody hadn't suggested as much to Touma back at the base he was just the kind of guy who would try to remain possessed as long as possible for the purpose of fighting off these types of enemies. Fortunately (or unfortunately for those hoping for a possessed Touma laying waste to the entire city's worth of demons and Septentrione Buds then exploding like a firework on the 4th of July), the demon that had been possessing him regressed into his summoning App in the form of Peri. And for the rioters that were still dumb enough to be looting in this infested area, a simple demon summoning was more than enough to deal with the threat.
"All right, you're getting in the way of your own salvation here, so I'm going to give you guys a lesson in acting like decent human beings," he smirked, ignoring the irony that someone with his reputatino should be lecturing ANYBODY in that field...despite the smirk Luvi was surely throwing his way, "Lesson number one...if you take s**t that isn't yours, somebody like me's going to come along and beat the s**t out of you.  Nix Gallen Nix was able to relax a bit once they reached the base. Though she immediately got to work on patching up Gin's injuries. Soon he was bandaged up but not fully recovered, he was still in bad shape. They were able to give the report and she was expecting them to take a breather but the rocker then announced he had a different idea. He was going to go search for his friend and wanted her to stay here. Nix couldn't help but remember how Minori ran off and didn't come back. What if the same happened with Gin? With the shape he was in he could be killed! "You want me to stay here? By myself..? I'm sorry but I-I can't! You're in no condition to be running around by yourself." She had to speak her mind or she could lose him. "It wouldn't be best for me to just.. wait here for you. I would be worrying about whether or not you're dead out there the entire time! So you guys work hard, while I live it up, got it?""What's up now, you pink-haired wannabe hero?" one of the rioters smirked as he fell back into the much larger group of their roving band that had shown up after Touma had kicked at least five of the 10 or so from before's asses...now feeling bolstered in confidence by knowing that there were at least 10 more to back them up, making this a fight there was no way Touma would win, "Cat got your tongue? Or you just wanna shut your mouth now and run away like a pu-"
...His mouth was shut violently by a fist, the drummer now truly getting into the heat of battle with the odds turning against him! Before it had been almost too easy with his devils by his side, but now they were hardly doing any of the work at all! This was all pure, instinctual badassery and fighting skill, and these punk rioters felt like they hadn't fought a day in their lives...at least to someone of his current skill! It was like shooting fish in a barrel. One after another fell, and though the size of the crowd was large, many were fleeing before they had even come at him. It was a complete massacre...a bloodbath...but remarkably, not a single death.

Sacrificing his Mitama to take the killing blow in his place, the drummer was swiftly retreating with his companion to the safety of an alley where they could regroup for the next attempt. That one had, obviously, already been wreaking havoc in the town for a little while...not freshly launched, so it was impossible to tell just where it might have been shot from in the first place. He needed to anticipate where it would land...see the trajectory...the next one that Megrez sent out. It was a matter of luck, but if he could just calculate where they were coming from...

So you guys work hard, while I live it up, got it?"Even if the alleys were too narrow for the Buds to find their way into, it was still possible for demons to get into the spaces...which they did not long after the Bud had gone its own way, forcing the Pink Prince of Percussion to pound his way through them to get back to the Downtown Streets and back into his pursuit of the Buds that he intended to study. One might not have imagined that someone like him would be as cerebral in his approach to a fight, but even he knew that at times, you needed to know your enemy in order to defeat them...particularly when they were abominations from the world beyond this one trying to eradicate all humanity with the power, apparently, to carry out that intent. And there was nothing amateur about his investigation skills or intelligence...it was easy to forget just how capable he was in the face of rebellious attitude.
But here he was studying the behavior patterns of the Buds to see if he could find some kind of a weakness, or at least something that would make it easier to move through the city without running into them...and lingering in the hopes that he could work out some VERY advanced geometry to discover the location of a distant enemy via the trajectory of a weighted projectile that landed in a more local location. A call from Makoto warning him of rumors some rioters attacking JPs agents in the area had come...about five seconds too late, since they were already spotted and the group was closing in on them. It wasn't the same group from before, which meant that there were now multiple roving bands of App-Users attacking people and trying to steal supplies from the government organization that was trying to fight against the end of the world for them. "Idiots...who do they think is going to stop the Septentriones if not JPs?" Touma cursed under his breath as they closed in, weapons and cell phones in hands, already preparing the threats they were going to use to try and extort something useful, edible, or both out of the drummer and his artist companion. Well, nothing to do about it now. Mess with the bull...
"Scatter and you get to keep your teeth," he warned them as the leader of the band began to open his mouth to say something generically cocky, immediately growling in response to the ultimatum Touma had planted him with instead, "No? So you guys work hard, while I live it up, got it?"By the time that he was done with the larger group of rioters, there was only one remaining that he hadn't quite dealt with; his phone rang as he approached the man who was crawling backwards away from him on the ground with his phone smashed, arms held out in front of him in terror as he tried to shield himself somehow from the destruction that was about to rain down upon him. Flipping the phone open as he continued to stalk his prey, Touma listened to the voice on the other side and nodded, wiping away a splatter of blood from his cheek and smearing it slightly underneath his left eye. He didn't seem to notice, instead watching his once-confident foe crumble like delicious flakes of an apple dessert. ...Just thinking about that made him hungry.
"Hm? Yeah, we encountered the rioters. The threat's been neutralized," the drummer answered the JPs officer on the other end of the line, "Casualties? None..." He looked back at the 'leader' of the rioters, scrambling away from him on his a** without a lick of dignity. He had warned him, hadn't he? It had all happened very fast, but as the sound of something approaching from above caught his ear the pink-haired drummer rushed out into the street and turned his attention towards the skies, spotting a Bud of Megrez falling from the sky and with a hyper focus, he tried to memorize the angle of the fall, the curve of its arc, estimated the speed and the force of the impact...all necessary information if he was going to have any hope of deducing the origin point from which it had launched and the location of the main body of Megrez, the Septentrione. "...degrees, impact...s**t, it's not as heavy as it looks at all! To leave such a small crater at that impact speed...did it slow down at the last second? s**t, s**t..." His mind was whirring through half-heard lessons stored somewhere in his mind and all of the knowledge that he had naturally accrued over the years, trying to draw some kind of a conclusion but he still felt like he was missing a key component to the equation. And it was just like that he found himself when something grabbed his attention from behind...Luvi?
"What? Don't look so surprised, I'm not an idiot. I know geometry," he answered her wide-eyed look with a dismissive comment, but when her surprise changed into a sudden desperation he realized there was something else, "Huh? FU-!" An explosion rocked the area beside him as Ishtar burst forth and tossed him aside, the attack of the Bud striking and weakening the devil, reducing it slowly to magnetite. He could do the math later! Right now, they needed to move!

So you guys work hard, while I live it up, got it?"By the time that they had reached Junes, there were devils in the lobby again, but he wasn't in any mood to play games with them...his fist smashed viciously into the first and he let Peri's fire wash over any that stood between he and his companion's path to the safety of the far side of the doors into the superstore. Magnetite raised into the air like sprinkles of glitter in the air, blue and green, and they slipped inside of the building and hid around the corner just in time for the Megrez Bud to pass by without having noticed where they had gone. They were safe again...for now.
"I've got to talk to someone at the Headquarters and tell them what I saw," he thought out loud as they caught their breath, thinking about which member of that messed up crew might be able to do something with what he had learned. Sano Gallen While Sano was searching the town, he came across a JPs member. At first he thought nothing of the individual but soon enough words were had. More like insulting one anothers strength. Before they knew it, they started trading blows and it escalated into a near death match! The only thing that 'saved' them both was a swarm of demons attacking. So you guys work hard, while I live it up, got it?""s**t, I thought you'd gone!" the drummer bit out angrily as an attack cracked the blacktop just before his feet and the Bud of Megrez that had passed by turned down the road and returned along the path it had come...encountering him just as they had intended to flee towards the Headquarters and putting both he and his companion in dire straits, "I'll use the demons to cover our retreat. Head into the alley and go until you find the road out of town. I'll be behind you! Go!" He dodged a spell and summoned Peri to stall a little longer before finally made his move to retreat.
Typing in a few commands to his phone, he nearly dropped it when an Earthquake stumbled him just short of the alley...as he tried to get up he could sense instinctively that he was in danger, that he might not make it.
"I shall lend you my power, human..." a deep voice called out in his head, "We shall deliver judgment upon those who have erred...merely wish it and I shall appear. I am Yama..."
...What choice did he have? He had to survive! He had to...!
"Then come out already!"
...The devil appeared, its tombstone saber blocking the fatal blow...and before he could even consider what had happened he ducked into the alley and was off behind his companion...safe, for now, by the skin of his teeth. Quote: Devil: Yama [41], Peri [38], Ghost Q [26]

So you guys work hard, while I live it up, got it?"The path back to the Headquarters wasn't entirely clear even after they escaped certain death at the hands of the Megrez Buds again, but the demons were far easier an opponent to deal with...and he wiped them out with his new ally Yama as though they were gnats and he had the world's most accurate flyswatter. There was no joy in the victory, though, as his own anger at having nearly lost to another of those ice-cream cone looking shits was eating at him inside...and he had something more important to worry about in his conversation with what's her name Kanno when he got back to the HQ. It wasn't perfect information, but he hadn't been able to stay long enough to gather more of it. They would have to make do with what he had seen for himself.
"They had better do something with this..." the drummer grumbled as they made their way out the road towards the outskirts of town, "...I don't put my neck out there like this just for the Hell of it. And I sure as Hell don't risk...never mind..."Quote: Devil: Yama (41), Peri [38], Ghost Q [26]
