The room was a lot different than Rep had expected, and he realised Harrison really hadn't been lying to his other self when he'd said there was ******** in it.
As they arrived at the gate Rep eyed the stairs beyond with a slow sinking sense of dread. He'd been so sure Harrison would be there, he'd been desperate, willing to push everyone out of his way to get there, to sacrifice Jerry and Candace, anything he had to do. And now there was absolutely nothing but more wandering beyond. It was looking more and more like they'd have to kill B0nez and Harrison and that at this point there were no other options, but he knew he couldn't do it, he wasn't strong enough for this. He'd come to save Harrison and he realised now why he needed the others with him so badly, he couldn't do it alone. He wanted to be like Allan, able to do the right thing for people, to save people he cared about, but he didn't have the inner strength, the ******** kororo to do it.
It took all his willpower not to simply sink to his knees and give up. He'd taken another massive risk at the cost of his teammates and once again the return didn't look worth it.
He shook his head, at this point offering nothing but honesty, he was a terrible liar and it was pretty much impossible to hide his disappointment. "Naw." he said, "Looks like a security measure."
Harrison stirred and it was Jordan's name that made him look around anxiously, backing up away from the other man almost on instinct, flighty and rattled like he had been after the promotions gone wrong.
Tracey went patiently to join Ferros. He wasn't sure if he should have intervened.

Jordan knelt beside Harrison. It was hard to remember that this was just a fragment, not real, not his Harrison. "I don't know if it's any consolation," he said quietly, "but your Jordan, the one that belonged to this world, he would have died for you without a second thought. He was happy."
He looked up to where Rep stood, looking panicked. "Go on ahead," he said. "We'll follow you."

Rep eyed the stairs, then Jordan and remembered the haunted house. He didn't want to go off into the darkness alone, not without knowing how this ended, not without knowing what happened here. Part of him knew, and it made it even harder to leave.
He shook his head.

Rep wasn't even sure at this point what he was capable of, if he could stand by or if he'd lose it again. He crossed his arms and hugged himself before looking away, unable to meet Jordan's gaze. He shrugged helplessly, tired, weary and with rapidly fading hope, he wanted to go home and possibly - in very unmanly fashion - a cuddle aswell.

The elevator door finally opened and Candace stepped inside, waiting for Atropos, Jerry, Roar and anyone else who decided their place was in the penthouse to join her before she took the elevator up to the penthouse. Her pace wasn't quick or hurried in any way, slow deliberate steps that easily avoided any fallen wires or debris from the mess the penthouse was now in.
She strode across the room silently, finding the group had moved into a room with...stairs..
Candace arched a brow. Well this was interesting. She took a moment to fix her hair, though it wouldn't look as pristine as it had earlier without all the work it took to make it that way in the first place, and tossed the destroyed fur wrap off away from her. Normally she would have gone first, under any normal circumstances she would be hurrying up those stairs faster than she could be told to stop and wait.
She didn't want Rep behind her right now.

Nothing made sense anymore. Loyally, dutifully, Gargantuan had stuck with the group, and with a wary eye at the officers stepping through the elevator doors... well. It was time to follow the people who he knew he could trust--his fellow pawns.

Despite all of his howling and singing and pep-talking, Jerry's expression fell as the pawns filed out and he, Candace and their weapons were left alone to wait for the lift.
Candace said nothing, no remarks, no further assurance, just the sound of the elevators finally responding.
He stepped in, twisting the glowing crystal between his hands. "Three hits," He murmured under his breath, "That's all it'll take. Then we'll have him back."
Candace and Atropos had still wordlessly stalked ahead. The height was making Jerry nervous again. They were prepared now. he wouldn't have a repeat of the last attempt.
He felt like he was going to throw up.
It was all just an illusion, and he could do this.

Jordan turned as Candace and Jerry entered the room. Ferros shadowed them, his face as expressionless as if he were metal again.
"We have a decision to make," Jordan said. "Do we try to take them with us?"

"NO," Jerry hissed, "Look, it's NOT Harrison. Harrison is... is in there," He motioned toward the staircase. "We have our orders. I got the tool to do this. We have to do it right."

Serafina knew that once everyone died, they would be resurrected again, but she in no way understood what exactly the officers were on when they showed back up. They didn't seem the slightest bit relaxed, in a rush to do whatever they were doing before. Did they enjoy swan diving off buildings, or something? She supposed that would be an interesting way to end the unlife over and over, but Serafina was in no way particularly fond of what happened the last time she died but didn't die.
Her whole non-life was rather confusing that way.
When she saw the rest of her fellow pawns exiting towards the tower, she decided that that was the only thing that made any kind of real sense. The officers were confusing her, and there was no way she wanted to stick with people who seemed determined to get themselves killed again. Even if The Boss was fake, challenging The Boss didn't seem like one of the best ideas she had ever heard.
Nor was that singing the best idea.
Serafina was with Taima--she didn't really care to fight for a world that didn't exist. She did, however, want to fight to give what was left of their non-lives meaning, and for that, she would drink. She sipped the rest of her mudslide, shuddering as the burn and chocolate went down her throat at once, before getting up, deciding it was about time to join the rest of her team.
They would figure the last bit of this unlife together.

Rep summoned his claws as Jerry and Candace returned. He wasn't even sure why. At this point he felt like a cornered animal with nothing to do but fight. As if fighting for this Harrison would save his own. It didn't make sense but it made more sense than anything else in this world.
He didn't reply to anyone, just eyed Jerry, tension in every line of his body.

Mark had told them they'd have to kill the fragment. That didn't make it any easier when it wore Harrison's face, looked and sounded so much like him. Jordan swallowed hard. He got up and moved over to where Rep stood, closed his hands over Rep's wrists. "Don't look," he said quietly. "I don't think I can either."
He glanced back over his shoulder. "Candace," he said. "Please." He couldn't keep the sharp edge of pain off his face; he turned away again instead.

Candace said nothing as Rep summoned those claws of his, simply giving him a narrow-eyed look as if challenging him to ******** come near her. At this point she'd shove him off the top of the tower herself because of what he did to her.
"Jerry is right." She finally said, speaking to Jordan now. "With whatever Mark gave him, it probably won't take long." She'd shut down, taken a page from the book of the Candace of this world. She just wanted Harrison back, the real Harrison. That was all that mattered right now; they couldn't afford anymore emotional breakdowns over this.
And yet she still tensed when Jordan spoke to her, begging.
"He already thinks I killed him once." Candace nearly whined, rubbing her lips together and pinching the bridge of her nose. Why her? Why did she have to do it? She turned a pleading look to Jerry. What if Harrison remembered any of this...? Would it hurt? Would he be upset when he finally awakened? No. Stop this. Just...get the mission done.
She finally turned and walked up to Harrison, getting down on one knee beside him and petting the man's short hair. "I'm sorry." Candace wiped her thumb along the underside of her eyes, rubbing her lips together and leaning down to kiss Harrison's forehead before she helped him sit up. "Just remember I'm doing this because I love you too much to lose you, okay? You're my best friend." She sniffed, gesturing for Jerry to come over. "Plus I spent god knows how much on you for Christmas there's no ******** way I'm letting you not wear those earrings." Candace forced a smile. If Harrison was going to remember any of this she wanted him to remember why this was all happening.
