"I believe my aunt told me to pepper-spray people like you... " Vanni responded. "Bellona, if you don't mind, keep using Fury Cutter?"
The Chikorita nodded but didn't speak, suddenly overcome with a strange feeling of exhaustion. She stood until the moment passed, breathing slowly. She looked at the Woobat, floofing and fluffling before her. Okay, POMF was pretty cute, but... she could still attack the thing, right? Right? With a sense of unease, Bellona darted forward, doing her best to overcome the Woobat's goofy charm and use her Fury Cutter once again!

"Pepper spray hurts you know!" Al shouted, shaking a fist in Vanni's direction.
"Hey that was one time! One!" Pepper called toward her companion from atop the Onix. Jeff seemed to be laughing...or choking...possibly both!
Grumbling slightly despite the success of his defense, Al would suddenly call out "POMF! LOVE KNOWS NO SPECIES!" An odd, and possibly worrying command from the boy; but once against the Woobat seemed to understand it.
Still fluffed to extremes the Woobat would begin fluttering forward, swaying slightly and attempting to show off ever ounce of cute. The air seemed to turn pink again...only this time it really was. Energy pulsed and quivered from the Woobat's body as it began invading the Chikorita's mind, assaulting her with Confusion!

"Good," Vanni said most emphatically, a slightly sadistic glint in her eye. It disappeared almost as quickly as it came, fading to a sensible glassy green."Bellona, try and focus," she urged her Pokemon
Focus on what? Bellona cringed as the nausatingly pink energy filled her mind. It felt like how Gilles acted! Except girlier! She cast about desperately to try and push away the confusion and keep her mind her own. The Chikorita conjured up an image of a cool green forest under the stars, breezy and light, away from all this hustle and bustle of humans... yes, Bellona's mental defense was that of her old home! But would it be enough to overcome the Confusing onslaught?

Bellona HP: 10/18
Despite her efforts visions of the Woobat would flood Bellona's mind. POMF was in the air, in the trees, mingling with the bees. Everywhere the Grass-Type looked in her mind she'd see the Woobat; and even when she looked out she'd find the fluffed up Flying-Type right in front of her!
It wouldn't end there! Acting as cutely as she had before, the Woobat seemed to be trying to take advantage of the Chikorita's momentary confusion in order to dissuade her from attacking!

Indeed, it wasn't enough. Bellona keeled over, visions of Woobat dancing in her head. "K-k-k-kawaii~" she whimpered, starry-eyed.
Vanni's cold facade instantly dropped. Perhaps she didn't have a career as a dominatrix... whatever that was. She'd heard her aunt mention one before as a job for a particularly violent and mean-spirited debutante Vanni had met a couple times. "Get up!" she encouraged her leafy companion. "You're far classier than she is; strike her with Fury!"
Slowly, the Chikorita climbed back to her feet, shaking it off literally and figuratively. Narrowing her eyes, she focused her thoughts and anger into her leafy blade. It shone a sickly green, harden at the edges. Though slower than before, Bellona charged at the cutesy critter with a Fury Cutter!

POMF HP: 10/24
It would seem the Chikorita's fury was too much for the Woobat's cuteness....at least at such close range! Smacking against the ground and fluffing in the process the Woobat would once again attempt to Charm her target!

Bellona was far, far too close to the Woobat now; too close to the sheer horror the cute! As the little bat-fluff fluttered and chirped in her most Charming way, the Chikorita forced herself to act as stoic and grumpy as earthly possible... but in the face of such cuteness, could she possibly last?

Under the circumstances it was only a matter of time before Bellona finally succumb to the cuteness of the Woobat, such an ending barrage as it was. That of course had been the young Alistair's plan all along. A gleam came into the lad's glasses as he snapped his fingers sharply "Its time" He stated, speaking more to himself than those around him; but as he struck a dynamic pose it plenty clear his next message was intended for all! "Now POMF! Counter with Aerial Ace!"
At that command a thing most odd would occur. All at once the Woobat'sa fluffy poofy fur would lose it's gravity defying nature, sleeking against the Pokemon's body as she suddenly flew high into the air. When the psychic bat reached a fair height she'd dive, leveling off mere millimeters from the ground and blasting off towards Bellona. Given the nature of the Woobat's body it was amazing she could even tell where she was going!
Aerial Ace was a move to which there was no defense...but no one ever said anything about a good offense!

Well, that could have worked out better. As Bellona reeled from the Charm's strong effects, Vanni gripped her cane with surprisingly strength. At the rate that Woobat plunged, there was going to be fair damage... and Aerial Ace wasn't a move one just avoided. She gulped, doing her best to keep a ladylike image. Attacking head-on; well, that was a plan, right? "Fury Cutter!" the tiny tactician ordered, doing her best to keep her voice level.
The little Chikorita didn't hesitate. Sure, the speed at which that Woobat moved was pretty terrifying, but by Shaymin's sweaty bulb, that was no reason to falter! With a sharp cry, Bellona charged forward to meet the Woobat with her shimmering bladed leaf!

Grass swayed and dust clouded as the Woobat moved at stunning speed, but rather than striking the Grass-Type before her the fluffy Pokemon was forced to adjust her trajectory last second lest she collide solidly with the Chikorita's vines! The end of one such vegetative limb would pass through the Woobat's fur without touching the skin, showing how close the ball had been by the removal of some loose periwinkle fur.
Al would simply cluck his tongue. Wasn't often a move like that missed after all. "Lock on target POMF, Odor Sleuth!" The young man ordered; one his Pokemon was strangely quick to follow. Within seconds the Woobat was flying straight at the Chikorita, intent on latching on to the Grass-Type's slim figure and....sniffing her?

Vanni breathed a sigh of relief as her Chikorita came out of the clash unscathed, shaking a bit of light blue fur off her leafy bits. "Well done, dearest." That had been too close for comfort for either to girl or her Pokemon. And the battle showed no signs of ending anytime soon...
Bellona, on the other hand, shared none of her trainers fears. She would fight regardless of the situation, and she would either win or lose! There was no point in being afraid! She bounced on her back legs, scanning the Woobat with some trepidation. "PERSONAL SPACE BUBBLE!" she squeaked as she suddenly realized exactly what was going on there. With a hiss, she went on the defensive, backing away as quickly as possible.

Backing away however would do the Chikorita no good as the Woobat clamped down upon the Grass-Type, nose sniffling and snuffling over ever inch of Bellona's body....EVERY INCH...and committing the Pokemon's scent to memory. There was no hiding from POMF's nose now!
The unbloomed blossom thoroughly smelled, the Woobat would release and take to the air, content to use the advantage of flight as her only defense!

Bellona froze, green eyes wide with horror. "There will never been enough water to wash this off..." she muttered, giving what was generally known as the thousand-yard stare. What was WRONG with this fluffy hellbeast? And why was it so cuddly? Resisting the urge to completely collapse under it's charms, Bellona shook herself off (though it was more like a shudder), and launched herself at the fluttering Woobat. Her leaf gleamed with the tell-tale light of the Fury Cutter. The creature might have been in the air, but the Chikorita's stubby legs might surprise her!
Leaf blade would slice through the Woobat, sending the fur flying as the Psychic-Type was battered into the ground, bouncing several steps before skidding through the grass. The wound itself was shallow but the attack itself had still been made greater by the previous success. With each attack Bellona's fury would only grow, and with it the strength of her attack!
"Alright kid gloves are off! POMF Aerial Ace!" Al would order sharply, point forward at their plant-like opponent. Rising into the air swiftly on small wings the Woobat would suddenly dart, disappear in a burst of speed. By the time the Chikorita was able to get a good look the Flying-type would already be passed.

The Chikorita did a little victory prance as she landed back on the ground, wiggling her vines to the beat of an imaginary song. Hah, cute? Cute was for the weak! The Guardian of the Moonlight Forest was not cute, she was strong! She was brave! She was-!
About to be smacked in the back of the head by a dive-bombing Woobat of adorableness and violence. This is why you don't celebrate too early, kids. Though her trainer shouted something (and waved her cane in a most indignant manner), by the time the Chikorita looked, it was unlikely she'd be able to roll out of the way.
