He moved closer and embraced her, this time tightly, not giving her opportunity to move out of his arms. "The first time I was in a fight, I was entering my forty-second year. Two..." He shuddered thinking of them. Traitor-vampires. "Things. They were holding Val down... I froze. Everyone makes a mistake every once in a while. Everyone's alive. Be thankful." He kissed her cheek. "I'm sure you would have entered the fray once you took everything in."

"That wasn't my first fight, though, Alek." Ceri's voice was small, weak, and passive compared to what it had been just a few minutes ago in the Dwarven Elder's hut. She put her head on his shoulder.

"Everyone freezes," he repeated gently. He gently stroked her hair. "It doesn't matter how many fights you're in... it happens."

Ceri shook her head again. She hugged him tightly and started to cry a little bit again. She didn't want to let go.

He kept stroking her hair and now pulled her back onto his lap, rocking slowly and singing a soft, comforting song in the vampiric language, one he used to hear every night.

Ceri hugged him for a little bit longer. SHe then sighed, and then got out of his arms. She stood up and said, "Thanks, Alek. That made me feel a lot better..." She blushed a little bit, then bit her lip. "Okay, time to be leader again I guess...." She walked over to Mala. "What now?"

With a soft sigh, Alek watched Ceri. He really wanted to hold her for a long time... to spend a night in her arms. Or at least an hour. And to kiss her.

((Hey, Ap, I think this is the first time one of my charries has completely denied a romance with one of your charries when being pursued by him XD))

"I honestly don't know. Wherever we do go, though, I'll be willing to use my barriers and fire magic to the group's advantage - if possible." Mala said, shrugging. She didn't exactly state her plans on going to a certain mountain with Van and Riley, since they still had yet to successfully come up with a way to ditch the others.

"And you know I'm willing to use my magic too..." Ceri said. She noticed something was bothering her. "Is there something wrong, Mala. Something you're not telling me?"

"Well...We were kinda thinking of splitting up here." Van said, deciding to be truthful. Sort of. "We've got some business to take care of elsewhere--god politics, pretty lame really--and we thought it'd be a good idea to go our separate ways so we don't drag you guys into any more fights with crazies that want my head." he half lied.

Angel hugged Mala fiercely, tears gushing out of her eyes with no warning. "You can't leave me!" she whispered, completely at odds with the torrent of water coming from her eyes. "You can't!"

Ceri frowned. "Then, what do you want to do? Meet up back here in so much time?" she asked. She crossed her arms. "What do want us to do in that space?"

"No one said you had to wait here in the entire time. You could try to help Rincewind with his little demon problem in the mean time." Van suggested. "You and Mala are magic users, there's got to be some way to contact you once we're done." he said, even though he knew damn well that even if such communication did exist, they weren't going to use it.
