darkphoenix1247 Welcome! I have to say- you have a fairly uncommon job, but it sounds interesting! (The investigations part, not the desk monkey blaugh ) If you don't mind me asking, what were you majored in before? Any variety of things. I stopped at the 'build your own major', with Biology and psychology as my main things. The job sounds more interesting than it is-I"m in the 'hunt down bad checks' area, not the cooler ones. Anyone who writes bad checks in KFC's, I've seen their names and laughed at the fees they accrued for their habits.

Shalom, I'm Dan and I'm 17.
I was born in Haifa, Israel but have lived in Australia since I was 5. My family came from the Soviet Union (my ancestry is 3/4 Jewish 1/4 Russian/Slavic). Though I had a brit milah and spent 6 years at a Jewish day-school, I consider myself a Jew primarily on the basis of ancestry rather than religion. However, Id like to become a bit more observant. I like the theology of Rabbi M. Kaplan/Reconstructionists and I'm thinking of going to a Reform-Conservative shul not too far from me during the High Holidays.
Interests: Politics, current events, history, and reading a bit about Jews/Judaism.

If I had to peg down one area of history, I'd say the Eastern Front of WWII was my favourite topic (3 of my great-grandfathers died there). I also like the Cold War and, not surprisingly, Israeli military history. But I basically enjoy learning about any aspect of modern/20th century history.

IRL Stuff - I'm not comfortable giving my real name, but I'm 24, Chinese, female and taken. Yep. Old fart in the guild. I'm not Jewish. Nothing about my identity pertains to either the religion or the culture. I joined because I felt stupid for not knowing anything about Judaism.
Gaia Info - Honestly, I don't hang out at the Gaia forums much. When I do, I'm at LI. Majority of the time, I'm either playing games or posting on guild forums.
Occupation - Long story... the short version is I'm doing undergrad economics but I have some experience in a couple obscure skilled trades and a not-at-all-obscure one. Don't ask unless we've established some form of trust already.
Hobbies/Interests - Watersports in general, other outdoorsy activities, reading academic material that has nothing to do with what I'm officially studying.
Favorites - Weird food that I've never tried before. And jazz music.
Misc. - I'm here to learn. Once I have a vague idea of what's going on, I'll be asking questions. All I have at the moment is a very general picture of the Israel-Palestine conflict but some friends and the material I've read have been biased towards the Palestine side (I think). I wouldn't mind hearing the other side's opinion for once.

Devil: I like your hobbies! I don't live near the ocean or anything to do much watersports, but the little I've done are fun! I have a friend majoring in International Economics, but hopefully you find it more exciting than I do! blaugh
