It's the eyemakeup. Thick dark, smoky circles make him look like he's dead and his brain's decaying, therefore causing the eyes to sink and creating the deep, dark, eyesocket effect...
Well I'm sure that was more info than anyone needed to know, but yeah.
I don't know... I kinda like the look. Totchi's brooding. xd heart
