Earendil tied his bags (since he had two by now with all of the stuff he'd been buying along the way) onto his horse's saddle, and then without even waiting or hesitating, he headed over to Lin and smiled warmly at her. Without asking if she needed help, he made a stirrup with his hands and braced himself to help her up.
"At your service, as always," he told her with a grin.

Lin giggled at that as she managed to get up onto her horse with Earendil's help. The getting up part wasn't as any harder than usual despite what Lin feared. Though she had to slightly flutter her wings to have them settle correctly on which side of the horse.
"Thank you," she murmured warmly, "I wasn't sure if I would be able to get back on."

Earendil chuckled and made sure Lin was settled comfortably. "You know you never have to ask," he reminded her. "You ought to know that by now."
He smiled and patted her gently on the shoulder, then headed to his own horse and mounted up. "Off we go?" he asked, looking around at everyone else.

Lin glanced in time to see Senka yawn in her traveling bag before disappearing to take a cat nap. How could cats sleep so much she couldn't help but wonder to herself.
"Ready," she turned her attention away from her bag and back to Earendil.

It was four days' journey back to Tor Karad, and when they arrived back in the city, Earendil had to admit that there was a certain satisfaction in arriving back home. The sense of familiarity ... was nice.
"Home again, home again," he murmured softly with a smile. He turned to Lin. "Did you enjoy the trip?"

"I did," Lin nodded, "It was really interesting to see all those places and to talk to the people there..."
And it was a bit of an adventure in some ways, she came away with some experiences for the future like being careful of how she talked to other people. Though with her new non-human status that wouldn't be a problem anymore. She hoped....

Earendil grinned. "Kind of makes you eager to see what else is out there, doesn't it?" he asked softly, looking ahead as they rode up the streets. "Still, it's good to be home again." He chuckled quietly. "I can only imagine how it might feel, returning after being gone for who knows how long ..."
And who knew how long their trip would be? How would they decide how many lands was enough to see?

"Good point, one thing is for sure it'll be longer than this trip," Lin murmured.
After all sailing could take a long time depending on how long it would be until they saw land, and then if the land was a place that could support them they could continue on even longer. It also depended on how long they planned to stay in the places they found.... how long was a sailing trip?

"Doubtless," Earendil agreed. "Perhaps the question is, how long would you like to be gone, or are you willing to be gone?"
After all, if all who were going on the trip were immortal, then time was essentially irrelevant, yes?

Lin shrugged at this, "It's not like I have a set timeline or even a set time I have to be back home."
Indeed if anyone was perhaps the most free it was someone like Lin who came from another world that ran on a completely different time line. Sure there was the problem that mentally she would be very old by the time she got back, but she always figured that would be the case.
"So I don't have one," Lin admitted, "I'm not going to get old, and time is like a crawl back home compared to here."

Earendil's smiled warmly. "Then I suppose that our only limit will be our supplies," he nodded. "And now of course the only two things we're waiting on are the ship itself, and your training."
"And Shiro and Ura to get back here," Kaito spoke up. "Think they'll be back yet?"

Lin had to think about it, that was a good question, "I guess it depends if Shiro finished doing all his research back at the vineyard..."
And she had no idea how long something like that would take, to her for the amount of time they traveled Shiro would perhaps have found all he needed to know, but she also knew Shiro had a better knack of coming up with questions that she did.
"It's possible he's back before us because of our delay but...." she murmured, "For all I know he came up with more questions."

"With him, who knows?" Earendil chuckled. He waved at some of the townspeople who called out greetings to him. "But once we get back to the castle, we can have a nice hot bath ... wash ... rest ..."
"Eat," Kaito purred.
Earendil laughed. "Eat. And I'm sure Ninako will have questions for us, though I'm sure she would want to talk to Tinuviel first. And Mother and Ada will be glad to have us home ..."
"Maybe we'll have a feast tonight," Kaito said eagerly, his yellow eyes gleaming at the thought.

Lin tried not to giggle, for once Kaito was being very single minded, "Are you hungry?"
She admitted she was a bit peckish herself but it wasn't like food was on her mind at the time, the bath and stuff was. As nice as the inns were the huge baths in the castle would probably be perfect for her new condition at the moment.
And sand and wings were just... ew...

"Yes," Kaito said without skipping a beat. "Starving. At least, starving for some real food. Let's face it, when you're traveling food doesn't stay very fresh, especially not in a desert."
Earendil chuckled. "Well, I'm sure that we will have quite a welcome waiting for us," he murmured. He looked at Lin thoughtfully. "Lin, you know how big the baths here are ... and I know you're not entirely used to your new wings yet ... will you need help with your bath? I know you usually prefer to bathe alone, but some of the servants I'm sure could help you ..."
