A marine quickly crawled over to him. "Gunnery Seargent?" "Marine?" "Has your squad placed their mines?" "They have" "Very good sir." The marine crawled away and Mendez returned to watching the wraith's advance towards their mines.

After looking through his binoculars, Gunnery Sergeant Mendez spotted three marines in the deep crater of a grenade blast being surrounded by a group of covenant. He quickly got onto the com and ordered "Riley! Take Five marines with you, and go get those marines!!!" he looked over at five marines wielding sniper rifles. "You! see those marines out there? Shoot those covenant!" He was worried. Had he made the right decision by telling the marines to rescue those three? or had he doomed them. A dead marine lay nearby and held a sniper in his cold dead palm. He reached over and grabbed it aiming towards the covenant. He sighted in on an elite in red armor and pulled the trigger being rewarded by the elite dropping in it's tracks. other well placed sniper shots hit targets placing a hole big enough that the marines could get in, and get the others out. He sighed with relief. he made the right decision.

Riley called in after reaching the hill. there was the noise of explosions. "Sir, Mission accomplished! but we have a problem. Those Tanks are within range now. We need to detonate." Mendez's stomach rose to his throat. "They aren't over the mines yet." He quickly calculated how long it would take. "Thirteen more seconds." Riley seemed frightened now. "S-sir, They've found us." Mendez looked at the tanks and saw them turn towards the eastern hill. "GET DOWN!!!!" all of the marines and officers nearby covered themselves and prayed. "AAAAAAAHHH!!!!" Mendez cut off Riley's scream and hoped not to die. After the bombardment ended, Mendez saw a red light on another channel. he flipped to that channel for his squad on the east hill and acknowledged the presence by a click. "H-hello? This is Lance corporal Lance Graham. Is anyone there?" Mendez felt relieved. "What happened down there corporal? Is everyone Ok?" A shaky voice came back. "N-no sir, three of us are here. we need a way out." "Seven seconds marine, then make a run for the center of the hills. after you get between them, get behind one one of the hills and climb, climb as fast as you can....May god be with you." "Yes sir." Mendez closed the channel and opened up his roster. He listed all of the marines at East hill as MIA. He didn't want KIA until he saw it with his own eyes.

Kristi grabbed her sniper rifle taking a position... just in case... she found this amusing.

Mendez pressed the detenator and saw many of the wraiths lift off the ground and flip or explode raining shrapnel on the other covenant. "Finally a turn in the tides."

Turns out that one of the medics found the last pouch of AB+ blood left on Theta Halo, But it was labeled as follows :Biohazard, do not use on normal personell. But the medic did not read this at the time, in seconds the blood was going into him and mixing. But all seemed well...His breathing stabilized, his pulse was back to normal, Still unconcious, but he seemed stable.
"Well I am glad thats over." said the Senior medic.
"Yeah, now we gotta work on the other incoming casualties coming in!"
Said the other medic
"Oh well, send him on standby evacuation, Just in case we get over run."
Said the Senior medic, as he left the room to the Pre-Op ward.
"Aye sir." Said the medic, as he and an orderly picked Sgt. Bisenti up on his stretcher and began to move him over by the landing zone.

Scarlett stood shaking, watching the fireworks down in the valley. She prayed for the return of the marines on the other hill. She didn't know how many were left after the blast. She shuddered down to her boots thinking of how they had died. Without warning, helpless, unable to defend themselves, incinerated in the blink of an eye...
Scarlett shook the horrible, bloody thoughts from her head. God have mercy on those soldiers... She bit her lip in utter sympathy.

Mendez Clicked on his Com. "All marines on the eastern, and western hills, retreat between the two. I want all of you up the hills within two minutes of me giving the signal. Got it?" repetitive clicks acknowledged him. "Good....wait for my signal."

Mendez looked across to the other hill and saw Ten Rocket Launchers laying beside dead marines on a hillside. "Someone get a hold on those rockets! Aim for those Wraiths!" Mendez himself looked through his binoculars. There should be enough rockets to finish all of the tanks. Now there was just the problem of ghosts and Spectres. "Snipers, Aim for their vehicles. When I give the order, Fire!" He looked and saw too many for them to handle. "Well, we can whittle them down but not completely."

Mendez hoped to help the marines stranded underneath him. But how? He decided to slide down, take cover and meet them in the middle. He gave the order for them to run. West hill suddenly buzzed with activity as marines ran for cover whle east hll's 3 members slid towards the middle of the hills. Mendez climbed down the embankment and met up with the marines. "Good to see you sir." Mendez looked back up the hill. "Good to see you too. We have to get up there now. otherwise rockets and sniper shots will tear all of us to pieces." Everyone climbed up the sides and met on the top. "Congratulations marines, now grab a sniper."

"Ma'am we were told to get behind cover, No offense, but Between us and the covenant is not 'Cover'." Mendez covered his head as a mortar flew overhead. "Rockets! Fire!" Ten rockets zoomed out from the hillsides and slammed into the wraiths making them burst into flame or sink to the ground disabled.

"Hit!" Scarlett cheered. She had specialized in close combat, only some training in rockets and sniping. Although, being the wraiths moved so slow, she was able to get the target easily. She only hoped that would be the last of them for a while.

He clicked on his com to the rocket jockeys and said "Fine shoots." he clicked the com and off and switched to Mendez's com and said "I know Im lower ranked then you, but please hurry. Theres not much we can do for you here. Ill come in and help, but not to many marines with follow me." He took off over the hill side. He scaled to the top and was soon running by Mendez's men. "Sir. Im here to help. Give me a spot and I'll stop; at nothing to make sure it happens. Not even death itself will stop me."
