The speeding arrow impaled Malis through the heart and sent him flying into a nearby tree, where he stuck there, writhing in pain.
"DAMN YOU!! DAMN YOU!! DAMN YOU!!" he squealed as he tried with all his might to remove the bolt, but to no avail.
He vomited a small stream of blood, and stared at the boy with furious eyes.
"This is not finished..." he gasped, "My power... My power can undo this... My power... can UNDO THIS... Vengeance..."
He gulped before he vomited more blood.
"will... be..."
And with a final choking noise, the evil Malis ceased all motion, falling limp, his lifeless body hanging from the bolt that pierced his chest.

Shef clutched his own heart. In his rage, he had never thought that he would actually have succeeded in what he'd just tried to do. Breathing heavily, Shef glanced from the immobile body, to Regond. He tried to ask, "Is it over?" but succeeded only in emitting incoherency.

((DAYUM, Z. AWESOME AVATAR. One suggestion, though... change your hair color to green.))
Regond was dumbfounded. Lord Malis, the powerful evil that threatened the Ether and the Earth, had just been slain by young Shef, in one attack, no less.
He sighed deeply and flew over to Shef.
"Yes. Yes, Shef." he replied with relief, "It is over. It is finally over..."

"And why did you lie, Regond?" Shef asked. In their short and raucous -filled time together, Shef had grown close to the old owl. Maybe, deep down, he had known that Regond was the closest semblance of his father that he would ever find....

Regond looked away in shame.
"I lied... because..." he mumbled, "I lied... because your father, Arthur..."
He looked back at Shef with tears in his eyes.
"Your father made me promise not to tell you. Those were his last dying words... He made me promise. I'm... sorry, my boy..."
He then began to sob behind his wing.

"Let me crush your heart in my fist." I love you.I wonder what you'd say. You've always fascinated me, you know.Tell me, do you feel betrayed?"You used to captivate me." ((So just like that? Ether's over?)) Floreta, silent, flew downwards, landing softly behind Shef. "Shef..." She set a soft hand on his shoulder, her purple eyes glistening. It seemed like she was back to normal now, with the annihilation of Malis. "It's okay," she breathed softly. "Everything's okay. I think you saved us all, Shef..." Reign gazed at them from where she stood, Falian sleeping lightly on her back, the girls arms wrapped unconsciously around the Guardian's huge neck. Looks like he's worth something after all...Queenie and Marina looked on, silent. Watching. Waiting. Is everything okay now? Just like that?"You were the person I wanted to be." I wonder what you'd say,
Now that I've torn your life away.
So shudder and shiver and quiver and die.
Do you feel hollow now that you've realized I lied? "Shhhh... let no hate break past your lips."

"Seems the boy did some good this time, not tripping into the mud, falling, what have you." Said Odemunk calmly as his beefy hands adjusted spectacles on his ape face. Odemunk had listened, waking up from his bakka attack early- and listening to the action from a distance away. He was still wounded, so he sat- and would catch up with Kiki later. Hopefully. His head felt light, however.
"This is nowhere near the end. Some force leads me to believe this is temporary."
As a few birds calmly resumed chirping in the forests above, Kiki was balanced on a tree. She could not yet make a sarcastic comment towards the happy scene, for the young adventurer was blown back by Malis in her valiant attempt to strangle him. Normally she could brace the impact, and get up, but Kiki had hit her head against the tree, as the cut on her cheek would show. It was alright, there was no need to rush over just yet- She'd be up later maybe to fix the gash in her face. Naturally in the style of miss Angeleke, the blood that trickled down her cheek was a bright blue, with gold flecks catching in the sunlight .

((People tell you to study and then wonder why you don't like it. I missed everything! Not cool.))
After the seemingly short battle in which Harlin had been more or less incapacitated, Damascus made his way over to his side once again. The two exchanged glances and few words before the instructor looked at Shef with widened eyes. He'd just learned what had happened to his friend Arthur and that this boy, almost social-reject worthy, was his son.
"I didn't even know..." Harlin murmured under his breath, attempting to be inconspicuous about his staring. Damascus caught the words as well, watching for any reaction from Shef that would qualify as healthy grieving.
Holly stumbled through the bushes, causing quite a racket until she finally disentangled a persistent vine from her ankle and jogged over to them, Narissa's great form in tow.
"Everyone okay..." she asked, voice trailing off as she eyed the bloodied corpse pinned to the tree.
What in the world...?

Shef was staring at what appeared to be Malis' corpse. His entire body was still as, deep inside the coils of his own mind, the boy struggled to overcome the shock of first having his soul violated and then learning about the death of his father. That was what had overcome his entire body--shock. Shef had never imagined that his father was dead. Actually, for most of the entire duration of his life, Shef had strove to block out the knowledge of what his father and Regond had been doing all the years of his life. Arthur, never around, never doing anything for his son--how could Shef have known about the Ether? Arthur had told Shef, of course. Shef had just chosen to disregard the knowledge, to classify it as false--a lie.
When Regond had appeared, not even a whole day ago, it seemed, Shef had not been surprised--not really. He had known, the entire time. He had just chosen not to act on it. Then Regond came--and lied--to Shef, injured and unable to do more than bring trouble. Or so, that was how Shef had perceived it at first. But the trouble would have come regardless, Shef now realized. This pathetic shell of a man--or corpse--before him proved it.
Eventually, Shef just dropped onto his knees, arms hanging limply at his side. He continued to stare at the pierced corpse, not even perceiving the world around him. Shef was... alone.

"Forget about the waterfalls, the rivers, and the sea." My God, my God - what have you done?DON'TYour words are unraveling all that I've done.EVERWith a few mere moments you've torn it away-STOPLet my ears bleed with your voice today.Floreta let out a small gasp as Shef fell to the ground. Immediately, she fell onto her own knee beside him, touching his shoulders. "Shef!" She breathed - a little urgently. "Shef, are you okay? Shef!" YOU How could you rub the wound with salt? MOVE It takes a lot to forgive and even more to believe. ME How could I tell you that your heartbeat is music to me? "Your chest against my ear is all the music I need." You know you wanna click it.

The touch mediated Shef's sorrowful, monotonous episode of grief somewhat. He glanced to his side at her, blankly. "Yeah," he responded almost automatically. "Just... fine. Just... peachy."
A note of sarcasm peppered his voice, but grief overshadowed it in enormous proportions. Floreta would be able to tell that Shef had not been attempting to actually hurt her with words.
"I'm so... numb, though," Shef added, rather glumly.
