Adonai nodded as they headed inside. "And they'll all need to be keeping a good eye on him," he muttered, heading towards the kitchen. "Mother," he greeted Ulani with a nod. "You want me to talk to Celebor?"

Ulani nodded and explained the situation, including what Ruran had done, and Adonai was amazed. Sure he had expected something of the sort, but to bring out a knife against someone who was unarmed? He bowed his head briefly, and then nodded at Ulani. "He and Ada are on their way home," he assured her.

Adonai had told Celebor very briefly what had happened, and now Celebor and Ulrich were discussing the event together as they headed back home. They were so intent on talking to each other that they didn't notice their company until they very nearly ran right into them.

"Lin! Alyse! Timaeus!" Celebor exclaimed in surprise, stopping short so that he wouldn't run into anyone. "Welcome back. I understand you had quite the successful hunt ..."

"Hello, Lin," Ulrich smiled back at her. "I knew I would be seeing you ... though admittedly I didn't think out here."

Celebor smiled, but his smile was sad. "I want to apologize, Lin," he said softly. "For everything my son has done to you ...I wish I could explain his actions, but ... I can't."

He shook his head slowly. "I wish there were something I could do about him. I just don't know what."

Celebor's brow furrowed slightly. "I always thought you were a morning person," he commented thoughtfully. "But then, the first hunt is always exhausting ..."

He smiled. "Well, we're on our way back now, Adonai's called me back to deal with Ruran. He didn't give many details, only said that he got completely out of hand with you ..."

Celebor blinked. "Cheated?" he repeated, not quite sure what she meant. Of course, cheating was expected of Ruran - he had no sense of honour or dignity. But there were many ways in which he could do so ...

"He pulled a knife on her," Timaeus said flatly, his arm tightening slightly around Alyse. "One of Ulani's kitchen knives, she said."

Celebor blinked, and blinked again. "He ... what?"

"At least, any to you," Timaeus put in. "He got Ruran pretty good. Bit, no knife," he added before Celebor could panic. "Still. Ulani was furious, dragged him off somewhere."

"Literally," Alyse added, trying not to smile as she remembered the sight of her grandmother yanking Ruran around by his braid.

Celebor took a deep breath. Enough was enough. It was time he took some real action. Something had to be done about Ruran ... and something big.

"I just wish I knew what I could do with him," he said quietly.

Celebor smiled wistfully at Lin. "Thanks," he said softly. "But I'll think of something, I'm sure."

He hoped.

"So while we're on our way back," he grinned, "why don't you tell me what's been going on with you lately? It's been a terribly long time since I've seen you."

Celebor chuckled. "It's been longer than I thought," he murmured. "Well ... start with your training. How is your training going? Still going to the Southland from time to time for more lessons and visits?"

He wondered briefly how Earendil was doing. Perhaps he would have to bring the entire family down there for a visit, now that they lived in this world ... but Ruran made him wonder if it would be a good idea.
