"Wordsss can't charm a sssnake, thief." Adrienne turned her back on him and stepped out of the stable. "And lassst I checked, you were no king." And unless he stopped her, she would leave to return to her bed.

"King of thieves, perhaps."
Allowing his right hand to drop from the reigns of the horses, Jin softly stepped forwards after the woman. His left hand calmly grasped the end of his scarf and pulled slack from it.
As a man who sought treasure, Jin knew how to coerce and romance in order to get what he was after. However, as a man who took treasure he knew more of the cutthroat ways of back rooms and brigandry than the small demonstrations he had allowed Adrienne to see during their short time together. His hands silently moved to the back of her shoulders, and from there the desert bandit's scarf became her newest chains. Wrapped quickly around her as a gag so that she could not scream out. Passed over once behind her neck to tighten and secure it and then passed down. His arms around her shoulders pulled the ends in front of her to weight down the bindings and force her head into her chest. His hands passing her sides entrapped her arms at the elbows and pulled them behind her, while a few deft passes of his hands entwined the ends of the cloth around her wrists and bound them together between her shoulders.
"And in time," Jin said as calmly as ever as he grasped the basilisk by her new bonds and threw her across the saddle of one horse, "more still."

The bandit would pay for that. He had cut off her ability to scream, but not to fight back. She waited for him to toss her over the horse's saddle before taking action. He'd bound her hands, yes, but her legs were still very much free to move and horses tend to move when they're kicked or hit hard enough. Adrienne kicked at the horse's side lightly, not enough to shift her weight, but enough to get the horse moving... after all, she didn't want to fall off of the saddle, she needed to move with the horse and away from Jin.

Jin snatched up the horse's reigns and calmed it. He had been anticipating something of that sort. After all, a woman has both arms and legs. Though she was already blindfolded, gagged, and bound, she could still kick... which was nearly all that she could do.
"Calm yourself, my Lady. The Guard will be here soon to arrest your friend. We must be on our way or such a precious treasure might be taken away by those silly nobles and their protection."
His right hand pulled a length of wire from beneath his tunic, roughly a meter would be more than enough. With the side of his hand he depressed a lever that snipped the wire segment, and with the length of wire held between two fingers Jin wrapped his arm around Adrienne's legs just below the knees and pulled them together tightly. Passing the wire around, he twisted it firmly into a tight clasp and then reached over her to the saddlebags.
Jin had prepared these horses for a journey, after all. Among the supplies he had prepared were many things, such as a length of rope that he would use to bind her body to the horse so that she would not fall out of the saddle as they rode.
"Come now, my Lady. We shall be off."

Arrested. The son of a b***h had set Kaiser up. A string of muffled curses was issued and needless to say, she did not make tying her legs easy. Nor did she stop resisting even after she'd been tied to the saddle. Adrienne squirmed and pulled and pushed, testing each and every knot.

As silent as the night, Jin climbed into the saddle of one liberated horse and held the reigns of the other. With one subtle strike of his heels, he urged the beasts onwards down the darkened street towards other parts of the city. Passing through the city gates with a woman so obviously bound and gagged would be more difficult than necessary. He had one more stop to make before it was time for them to be on their way for good. - The Guard would come after they had gone. Hours, potentially, but before morning came they would have arrived unless the inspectors in Lament were as inept as they were overpaid. Jin had taken care to plant the necessary evidence to make the story convincing enough. A burglarized home. Precious jewels stolen, including an heirloom belonging to the noble family. The thief was so arrogant as to leave a note proclaiming victory in the place of the pilfered gemstone, written on a paper with the top torn off of it. Upon investigating the room, they would find a crumpled paper stub in a trash bin. A paper stub from the inn's stationary pad. By following the burglar's painstakingly marked and deceptively hidden escape route they would also find a torn keychain beside a rock where the thief had jumped a wall. It would have Kaiser's room number written clearly on it. When the Guard arrived at the inn, they would find Kaiser's name on the books and find Kaiser sleeping in the room... along with enough planted evidence to connect him with the burglary. A few small valuables stashed in nooks and spaces around the room, a crushed flower from the garden caught in the laces of his boots, and the creme de la creme... Jin's "payment" that was left behind. An heirloom far more valuable than two horses and any ordinary slave, tucked beneath the corner of Kaiser's pillow. If the Lament city Guard lived up to their reputation, they would shoot first and ask questions later. Even if Kaiser was found innocent of the crime, it would be days or even weeks before the truth might come through.

Adrienne wouldn't be getting any sleep for the rest of the night, she continued to squirm, pulling at the wire that bound her legs and the scarf that bound her arms. She'd kill him once she was free, there would be no mercy.

She would not be free for a good while at this rate. Not until they were far from the city.
Though how would they leave the city? By wagon. They were not particularly expensive, especially when one can provide two horses of their own to pull it... Merchants who kept shop in the middle of the night were far less prone to asking questions about a bound woman being carried off against her will than the city Guard were. A palmed coin or a simple threat were enough to make most stay their tongue.
And so, with the rising of the sun the thief and the Lady would pass through the gates of Lament and head south in search of greater things.

Kaiser was rudely awakened by some guards kicking in his door. He was only half-dressed and still under the covers when they barged in, screaming at him to put his hands up and that he was under arrest.
"Under what charges?!" he demanded to know as they began rifling through the room, finding jewels and baubles that he didn't remember ever being there before. And where was Adri?
"What the hell? I don't know where any of this came from!"
They weren't listening though. What the hell was going on? Was this a setup? Did Adri betray him? But, why would she do that? He was confused, and that was only made worse by the fact that he was still waking up. He felt a hand grab him, pulling him out of ******** this!
Kaiser always had an Ace up his sleeve, and in the times that he didn't have any sleeves, he always had a spare tucked in his boxers. He pulled an Ace of Spades out and threw it to the ground, shielding his eyes. The room lit up with a dazzling white light and the smell of ozone, electricity crackling everywhere and striking the guards. While they were stunned, he grabbed his things and jumped out the window.
"What the hell is going on?"
He ran to the stables, intending to jump on a horse and get the hell out of Dodge, only to find them gone.
"That b***h," he spat, believing more that Adri had betrayed him for some reason.
A couple of guards had recovered and poked out of the window, firing at him with their pistols. Kaiser ducked and rolled out of the way, and made a mad dash to the nearest cover he could find. This was not a good way to start the day; and here he thought he was getting along well with the basilisk lady.
"I gotta get the hell out of here."
By the time the guards had spilled out of the inn and into the streets, Kaiser was gone, the only evidence of his whereabouts being a partially ajar manhole cover.

((Taking place long after the incidents between Jin, Adri and Kaiser (since this was started months ago) . . . Damn cooky time paradoxes . . . )) In the distance, the silhouette of a giant winged form loomed on the horizon. From afar, it would appear to be a draconic form, but as it got closer, one might see that was its only resemblance to the fearsome creatures. NAF War Airship Draconis IIIDraconis III steadily approached Lament, with hordes of Dead-Men marching on the ground below. The airship's speed slowed to let the army on the ground advance before it, and eventually came to a full stop approximately five kilometers from the city's walls, hovering in the air. "We are in position, Captain." "Stand-by," replied the captain, who remarkably looked like the cursed, semi-undead form of a certain pirate captain with crusty dark tendrils of hair and a bloodstained bandana around his skull. "Let the Dead-Men do their thing. We're only here for air support."

The Dead-men army moved closer and closer to the city, before stopping a rough five kilometers from Lament's gates. The sky was overcast, perhaps it would rain later. It would be fitting the occasion if it did rain. A battle always seemed better in the crisp sharp air that preluded a storm.
The army itself seemed to stretch across the horizon, so vast were their number. The atmosphere within the group was charged, their Holy crusade was coming to fruition, soon they would march upon the cities of the living and take them in the name of the Dead. The Dead-men were ready to shed the blood of the living.
Within the army, stratigically placed, were groups of mages, a shield raised over the front of the army to protect against any projectile attacks, atleast any premature ones. As soon as combat broke out, the shield would remain only over the Elite troops, the mages, and other essential parts of the army.
From the front of the horde, a group of twenty well armoured Dead-men rode forth on large demonic hounds. They were heading towards the city gates, once again, they were shielded in case of a premature attack. It seemed this was a messenger party, carrying news for the Leader of the city.

Now, since time seemed to be moving forward, let's have all time move forward.
This army that happened to be at the gates was about to be in for a rude awakening. The army behind those gates had been revitalized, so to speak. In the past few months, weapons, vehicles, and equipment had undergone a complete overhaul. Training was on their end of course, but Raven Industries had supplied them enough to advance their technology significantly.
The only things that needed to be finished were those big artillery pieces at the tower and the shields. Hopefully those would be all right for now.
The RI office in Central Lament of course, was buzzing with activity when reports of the airship came in. As surreptitiously as they could, they sent out an encrypted transmission to Durem...

((********, guys. Not even a warning to let me know things are moving in here? Jeez... stare ))
Of course, shields wouldn't really protect the party from the force of Lament's main guns. Especially guns made to destroy pretty much anything that opposed them. Luckily, they weren't firing. ...Yet. Mostly because they would have never made it that far had someone actually bothered to let the author know what was happening in his thread.
Unfortunately, nothing could get within 60+ miles of Lament without being spotted by the dozens of watchtowers. The towers would of course spot the Draconis III well beyond that 60 mile start of the watchtowers as it approached, as well as the army itself. If it was as big as one claimed, they'd easily be seen like a march of ants well beyond the 60 mile beginnings of the watchtowers. Thus, the Lamentian Guard would already be aware of the advancing force LONG before any kind of "messenger party" or any individual troops for that matter, would be able to be made out from the black of the army.
That little fact being cleared up, a helicopter would be dispatched from the city carrying two pilots, four guards, and an officer delegated with the task of identifying exactly what the hell this army was doing coming so close to the city. No "Messenger Party" would need to be dispatched, as the officials were already on their way to determine what was going on long before the army even reached the range of the guns, nearly 85 miles away from the city by the time they were within range. The standard procedure was to wait for the information to be gathered before offensive actions would need to be taken, however, the entire city was put on high alert as the chopper left.
Guards would swarm to their battle stations and prepare for an attack if the need for such things arose. The watchtowers were also on high alert, their compliment of troops arming themselves and keeping a close watch on the exactly what was going on with high-powered optical devices. Radio channels were open and waiting for the order to fire. The war machine had sprung into action, and sat ready to take action.
The Blackhawk helicopter would land not far from the front of the army, near what appeared to be a general. The four troops would exit first, guns in their arms, but not showing any sign of hostility. They simply wanted to be ready. What with an entire undead army just a few dozen meters away. The official would exit last and stand tall, his arms moving behind his back as he spoke, addressing the horde.
"In the name of the Lamentian Government, I hereby request that you explain your actions, and reasons for amassing such a large hostile force so near our borders."
The man was calm, official. He showed no hostility in his words, only a request for information. If there was a group that was supposed to deliver a message, this would be the time, place, and individual to share it with...

((Dude, I told you about this weeks ago.))
Who cares if they were spotted 60-plus miles out? They weren't trying to be stealthy. They were too large of a force in too open of an area to even have an ounce of stealth. What they wanted to instill was fear. How could Lament's defenders even imagine standing up to such a vast army? However well defended they think they might be, they are bound to fall.
"Mr. Biggs," the captain said, "Contact the Vecna and let Master Valas know that we will be engaging Lament's forces soon."
"Aye, captain," answered a bearded skeleton before running out of the bridge to the communications room.

An army of 200,000 simply does not stop, no matter how well trained they are. The helicoptor may have stopped close to the army, but that simply meant they would have little time to run. The General figure began to yell in a strange tongue, unknown to the official, and promptly the armed guards would be fired upon, quite literally, as their clothes and bodies were lit from the inside by pillars of flame. The General figure then moved close to the official on his mount.
"We have a group that wishes to speak to your leader. Only your leader will do, we will take no less. This is your only chance for peace. If you do not comply now, we will march to your city, and kill everyone inside, starting with you. If you do comply, our army will march towards your city, and halt their march there until negotiations with your leader have been completed. If I were you, I would take this deal."
The army had marched around the helicoptor by this time, it becoming simply an obstacle in their path. A mage stayed by the General to look after the helicoptor in case it tried to escape prematurely. The mage already had their sights on the helicoptor, shielding the entire area around the helicoptor, rather than placing a shield around the army. The General cared very little for this small man, and surely this small man knew he was expendable to his government.
