"Yeah! Watch!" Kevin went up to a wall, shot a line up it and turned into a squid. He grinned at Toby and started up the wall before allowing his character to fall back to the ground. "It's a bit slower," he said. "The guns are really fast!"

"But they cover less area. I see what they did there," Toby said with a laugh. He had gotten a better feel for Kevin's age range in the past months. Sometimes he needed to be humored. It made him happy.
"You couldn't even run into oncoming fire with this one," Dari said to Toby and shot him a wink. "In fact that's almost the main strategy.

"If someone gets you, you have to respawn," Kevin said, and looked at Toby. "Then it's harder to win, because you have to go back to where you were."

"Well you can. You just have to dodge. It's possible."

"Squid wolf-man, in this case."

Kevin was grinning. He looked between Dari and Toby. "I think you'd do okay dodging if you turned into a squid while they were shooting. Then you could reload before they get you!"

"That is very sound logic," Toby admitted. Huh.
The following day, Toby was packing up towels and asked Kevin if he had his swimsuit with him, just in case. He packed ample sunscreen and bug spray, just in case, as well as a large bag to stuff everything in. He hadn't told Kevin the plan, although he had told Maia and Dari to be sure it was alright with them.

Swimsuit? Yeah, he'd brought it. But why? Were they going to the lake? "Are we going swimming?" He asked. He went to see what Toby was packing. "Are we going to the lake, Toby?"

"Maybe," Toby said, "but not the lake, no. It's a bit further than the lake. I haven't been there in forever."
"I've never been able to enjoy it before, really," Dari said, keeping with Toby's theme or surprising the young kelpie.

"Where?" Kevin asked. He'd never been further than the lake before. Where would they need swimsuits? The ocean wasn't accessible from their state.
He looked to Dari. "Enjoy what?"

Dari just smiled at Kevin.
"Alright, is everyone ready?" Toby asked, looking around for his whole group.
"I'll drive," Dari said. He remembered where it was. Location recall was the whole evolutionary point of his people's eidetic memories!

Alright so it was a secret! So it must be something good. "Come on, Maia we're going now!" He called, unnecessarily; the Selkie had come to stand beside Toby. Maia snickered. "Ready!" She said.
"Let's go!" Kevin was out the door in an instant.

The drive was just over an hour long, but the signs start showing up before they even got there. You had to drive by a swath of the park itself to get to the parking area, including parts of two different rollercoasters.

Kevin did notice the signs but had for the most part dismissed them. They couldn't be going there. It was too cool, Toby would've told him. When a roller coaster came into view though, he stared, wide eyed out the window. "We're coming here?" He asked, amazed. "Toby, go on that one with me!" He pointed to the roller coaster he'd spotted.

"Let's get inside the park first," Toby chuckled. "We can go on that one, sure."
Dari parked amongst the mass of cars and they all stepped out. Toby, wanting to lead by example and also avoid a char-broiled kelpie, began to apply spray-on sunscreen.
"There's a water park too," he said as he did so, "We don't have to go, but I at least wanted the option."

Kevin took Toby's hand, and then Maia's. "You have to come on rides too," he informed the Selkie.
Maia looked concerned, but agreed with a nod. "Sunscreen, then rides," she said.
"I want to go to the water park, too!" Kevin decided, taking the spray on sunscreen and applying it to his arms.
