It's the cowardice that pulls you under
And takes you to the end, where it begins...

I'm back from my "vacation." NO "X owes me Y" where X="person," and Y="amount of money" jokes will be had, thank you. They weren't funny the first time, DAG, and they certainly aren't funny the fifth time, TYLER.

On the upside, I've got bitchin' painkillers.

Also, Roan? Tell the rest of the people who share your nationality to shut the ******** up when they have anything worse than the common cold. Oh my GOD.

...Release, the world is waiting on your arrival.
Close your eyes as we witness another bullet ride.

Jer? No can do until youve LIVED here and learnt the 40 different words for rain EVERY Brit knows, and have EXPERIANCED that particular breed of rain that says ******** you to ALL kinds of clothing and skin and goes STRAIGHT to the bone.

Thus, English people either a) Get so fed up of the constant common colds, they whinge or

b) The 'cold' they have is a superbred British cold, almost as bad as man colds.

Excuse me if I've been bitchy lately.

He asked me in January if I would go to his senior prom with him in April.
I said yes.
We spent the next few months idly planning what to wear, etc.
A week or so ago, he stops me in the hall, to talk.
"Hey, um...." He's obviously feeling uneasy about this, which has me worried from the get-go. "About prom...Something's kind of come up...I'm going to ask Anne Moon out later this week, and...it would be kind of awkward if I took you to prom, when I'm dating her..."
By now, a lot of things are running through my mind: Anne Moon? The junkie? Yes...The junkie. Isn't she- yup. 'Engaged' to her boyfriend. And cheating on him, too, and not just with one guy, evidently. So...he dumped me for a pot head and alcoholic, in an abusive relationship with a tweaker? Yeah. Evidently. Didn't they date once already? Yeah, and he ended up dumping her, too-
"I'd be glad to buy your ticket anyway, if you still want to come..." His hesitant suggestion cut into my thoughts, and I glanced up at him, opened my mouth, closed it, and thought carefully before I spoke.
"No," I began, trying my damndest to be nice. "No, don't worry about it. This means I don't have to find a dress, anyway."
He looked....relieved. That hurt.
"Are you sure?" He asked. It wasn't a question. I forced a thin smile. The bell rang. I walked off, and barely even noticed when Cameron touched my arm and smiled when we passed each other in the halls. For once, I didn't bashfully smile back.

In an attempt to salvage my dignity, I didn't talk about it at school for the most part. Ashleigh noticed he wasn't at lunch, and pried the story out of me when I bitterly commented that he was probably with Anne. She rolled her eyes, pointed out that I'd turned him down when he asked if we could go out, and said that I didn't have a right to be upset with him. What she didn't know and what I didn't say is that he had asked months in advance if I would go to prom with him, and I'd said yes, even if I'd opted against dating him. Maria and Brittney asked if I was going to prom earlier today. I forced a smile, and said 'no, not anymore.' Both girls are acquaintances of Anne's. They know her, and her habits. They know him, and his. They were pretty horrified, and indignant on my behalf. I waved off their anger, and said not to worry about it.

Tonight, halfway through an episode of CSI New York, my phone rang. The name on the caller ID gave me pause. What on earth could he want to talk to me about? He's been rather pointedly avoiding me for the past few weeks. Again, before he even speaks, I'm uneasy.
"Hey..." There's that telltale reluctance again. This time, he sounds...almost contrite.
"Hey. What do you want?" I didn't mean to come off so sharply, but at this point, I'm hurt and angry, and he's stupid and insensitive.
"Well...I was wondering if you'd reconsider going to prom with me."
I let an awkward silence stretch between us. I can hear him shifting uneasily on the other end of the line. I let it stretch a bit more. He's probably squirming, by now.
"What happened to Anne?" I ask.
It's his turn to pause.
"I realized...she's never going to change. Her boyfriend is..."
"He's complicating things, I take it? Unhappy about you taking his girlfriend out to the prom?" I try not to let too much sarcasm creep into my voice. But I don't try too hard.
"Yeah."
"Hm."
My noncommittal grunt is apparently the equivalent of an affirmative, so he goes on to explain that his teacher is the one coordinating the prom tickets, so even though ticket sales closed today, he can still get me one.
I let another silence stretch between us. So...what...he walked up to his teacher, and asked her to save a ticket for him, in case his date fell through? Sounds like it.
"Tell you what, I'll think about it, and talk to my mum, and call you back later." I say. He sounds rather disappointed. Did he expect me to fall back into his arms immediately?
I hung up, and went back to watching my tv show. I'd already made up my mind.

I call him back later, and tell him that it's really just too last minute, and I already have some tentative plans for that weekend anyway.

I'm nobody's damn backup plan.

eek The b*****d..! I'm no expert on relationships, but even I'm not stupid enough to do something like that! I don't blame you for snubbing him.

You might want to at least give him a "you f*cked up big time" speech to boot, to explain what he did wrong--us guys can be pretty dense at times.

You know, it's drama like this that sometimes makes me happy not to have a social life.

I believe I've run into that particular type of rain once, while on a campout. We had a good-sized stream running through the center of the camp, and the wind was threating to make all the tents go airborne. One small blessing was that it was was summer at the time, so the rain wasn't that cold during the storm...

i got to give you credit girl. Strong character on your part thats for sure. Don't let that man get you down at prom. I went with my best friend for my senior prom and had the best time.

My junior prom i was dating this guy who thought goth chicks were hot. nothing more embarassing to be on the dance floor with your bf pitching the tent.

Hell if you could i go to prom any way have a good old time in front of him. No girl should ever be a back plan. Cause women are just that damn special.

How long is it until you 18 jail bait?
*snicker*
PostPosted: Thu Apr 10, 2008 9:08 pm

I skipped my prom. I've never been one for dances and loud music... Plus I didn't have a date, so there wasn't much reason to.

Well, at least you knew for sure that he liked you... xd

Damn right! Real women should be appreciated--that's why I only objectify imaginary ones. lol

... Male instinct makes me mildly curious about that question as well, but my survivial/don't-wind-up-in-jail instinct tells me not to ask.

{XInternet is back.
Hughesnet officially sucks a**.
This WEEK has sucked a**.
For anyone who may care, I've been in and out of the hospital this week for possible Asbestos exposure, serious throat infection-turned-sinus infection, and several other possible illnesses and various infections found in my body.
Needless to say, I haven't been at school.
I've had blood work, a chest X-ray, and a chest CT scan done. Not as much as I thought I'd have, but way more than I want.
They've found something small on one of my lungs in the X-ray, so they're figuring out what it is as we speak, from the CT scan.
For anyone who cares, I get the results of the scan back sometime tomorrow. If the results come up bad, you all may not really see me for a while. It's probably nothing, but I figured I'd state that right now so it doesn't leave anyone wondering where I've gone.

Finally. I should have addressed this earlier, when I was last able to log in.
Rose? I'm uncertain as to what I've actually done to you to warrant some of the negative behavior I've seen directed towards me in public from the last time I was on. However, since it's obviously bad enough to make you feel the need to try and attempt public jeering in various places, I'd like to make a public apology right here.
I don't know what I've done wrong. However, if you'd like to tell me here, or in PMs, I would be glad to make an attempt to right any wrongs I've committed against you.
I don't like leaving things unfinished.
Good Evening everyone.
Post-Script:
Xx; wonderful work as always Bard. You say you wrote the last one? ^^ You've really improved that style, and it sounds much more focused on the music, as opposed to "hardwiring" the technique. It's got a wonderful feel to it. Please keep playing, as I like hearing you.
