Lilygwen gaia_nitemareleft Hey, since it's the birthday of my country ( and since we can't get into the presidents castle where they hold the fancy ball with all the celebrities and so on) I've brought you some cake for the occasion. Dig in! whee gaia_angelright Happy Independence Day Lily smile The cake looks really good! I read a little bit about the the Castle Ball - it says the parade of celebrities coming up to the palace is akin to the televised "red carpet" footage we Americans do for the Academy Awards. Do they televise the the festivities inside as well or only show the people arriving? @Lamb - good luck with all your work. You do sound quite busy but in a good way.

I love that when I tap the centre of your aquarium it looks like all the mermaids are gathering around the Christmas tree to sing carols. xd

They televise the arriving and the first hour or so of the festivities inside the castle. The arriving is of course commented and the commentators judge the dresses and so on. The afterparty is like the Oscars afterparty where the "cool" celebrities get their boogies on and on the next day we get to read from the tabloids who crawled out the party totally hammered and who was seen left the place with whom etc. The press isn't allowed inside the afterpary so they stay up the door the whole night and film everything interesting like "don't you know who I am" rants of some d-class celebs and so on. rolleyes Her dress is so ridiculous that it's almost cool. But her dress wasn't the craziest one I'm sure. Every year there's some one who wants to be photographed so they put up something crazy. I think it sort of degrades the whole point of the celebration because the evening shouldn't be about the dresses and etiquette. Sorry for my rant, but there are still men alive who fought for our independence... I just think they should be in there and not the so called celebrities who's biggest merit was for example that they made one mobile game that got popular. *shrugs* @Teeshan: Thanks! smile I hope your preggers nausea eases down soon. *hugs* gaia_angelright

I think it's cheeky, fun, and attractive. But like you say, without knowing your country's history, I agree that filling a celebration like that with celebrities is kind of lame. Are there at least some veterans there?

Are there at least some veterans there? gaia_nitemareleft I think her dress wasn't the "worst" and I agree that it is so ridiculous that it's almost good looking. smile There are some veterans in the ball. Of course they are getting so old that not all can come who have been invited, but as far as I've understood, it's the ones who have got some medals who are invited to the ball. What annoys me the most is the drama and the "who is seen with whom" are the only things that get reported in the papers. For example, the second last soldier who had the pretty much highest medal of honor from the wars slept away during the night of the 6th and this was mentioned with few line but there were massive article about who of the woman came to the party with their hair open (according to the etiquette you should have it pulled up). *sigh* But of course, it's the drama that sells. But let's get to more happier stuff. smile So what sort of plans do you have for christmas? Me and my fiance will be spending it at his parents house. It should be fun and we are taking our cats with us. gaia_angelright

gaia_nitemareleft @Camwen & Sammirah: Both plans sounds really nice! I'm bit nervous what sort of a mess my other cat manages to do at my fiances parents house. She likes to climb so I'm afraid she'll be dangling at the top of a christmast tree at some point. xp It's a massive snow storm in here now and there's already about 20cm (8 inces) of snow and more is coming constantly. What a perfect timing for the movie night with fireplace and hot mint chocolate, we had planned for tonight with my fiance. heart gaia_angelright
