Some people are full submission fighters; it's a fairly useful set of techniques.
However, it has it's downsides, especially if one using a submission move isn't cautious. For example:
You could manage to lock your legs around another opponent's, and pin them on the ground, and beat their face in while ontop of them - while forcing pressure on their legs - but, if you assume you've got them, they could, in a tournament like this' case, reach back for a blade and whip it out towards your throat.
You could get somebody by the arms from behind, and begin to build pressure in them as you twist them further and further behind their backs.
..Unless they have a blade secreted in their feet area, and manage to arch a foot back into you. Hell, some characters have aura-esque techniques that surround their immediete bodies, that I'd just as soon not be pulling any moves of the sort on. ;-;

It would take a real genius to do something as stupid as putting a submission on someone with a blade readily available.
And Tru, we were talking about groundfighting/submissions before Beylu asked about summoning.

Crawleymang~ It would take a real genius to do something as stupid as putting a submission on someone with a blade readily available. And Tru, we were talking about groundfighting/submissions before Beylu asked about summoning. Well, I'm referring to a character that has a blade, but that has it placed to where you couldn't immedietely tell it was on their person.
Now.. if you tried pulling a move like that on somebody with a knife hanging off their chest, yeah, that wouldn't be a bright move - unless one of your hands reached for the handle of it during the submission itself.

@Crawley: Well, what if you pulled off a submission where the hand holding the blade was immobile? I'm pretty sure someone could pull that off.

Submissions are also kinda useless because everyone wants to hit everyone else in the nuts. So you gotta know the right one to do.
All the really effective submissions usually leave the groin as a free target because people aren't allowed to hit people in the nuts in organized fighting.
Women H2H combatants.. (if there are any that exist besides my chick) would have a field day with it.

Actually I just did that... http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?page=3&t=14435433#799355211(Do not post in this thread) Here.. as my opponent has my knife in his left hand.. and that is the one that is between the legs and unable to do anything. But anyway.. your opponent has to set themselves up for it. Can't roughhouse it.

Yo BayLu, I'll PM him about it.
The only way I can think of it as being legal, though, is looking at it like this...there's a difference between summoning a fully-fledged, free-thinking familiar, and then compressing your own spiritual energy into an image of a woman drawn up from your memories, which is what I seem to understand he did. That's why I judge this stuff on a case-by-case basis, because look at it this way:
Using his mana, a person could make a fireball that keeps chasing after his opponent...to blow up on contact or something.
Using his mana, a person could make a fireball that takes the shape of a dragon and keeps chasing after his opponent and throws in the occasional slash or bite...to blow up on contact or something.
A dude could clump together a big boulder of earth and have it roll after his opponent...to explode or whatever.
A dude could clump together a big golem of earth and have it run after his opponent...to explode or whatever.
There really isn't much of a difference between those situations, except that the second ones seem like summons, but aren't really much different than normal attacks. There are some other people that have attacks where they call up shadows to take shapes of animals and they all charge at the opponent, and it wouldn't be any different if the shadows were just...compressed shadow orbs or something.
I'm also allowing people to duplicate themselves, which is sort of what Rovell did, too.
Excuse the long post, but it's just kind of iffy, and the lines between magical attacks, summons, player characters, and non-player characters can be blurry. And the teleport rule pertains moreso to one's actual character, but duplicating oneself doesn't make it anymore legal...so after going through it, I'm thinking he's still in the wrong.
So I'm sending him a PM. :3
