kyoskue Falcon will be in, I can nearly guarantee. According to some several people who spent a lot of valuable time to translate the original Smash Bros and Melee Japanese pages, Captain Falcon was his favorite character, because he is "So manly."... eek Err, anyway, outside of that, Assist Trophies were set to appear in Melee as Assist Capsules, but the idea was cut due to the game being rushed for the Gamecube release date. A large number of the trophies in the gallery actually had attack animations that had to be cut from when they were planning this. Ness probably won't appear, because back when Melee was coming out Mother 3 was going to be on the N64, so they planned to trade Ness in for Lucas. Obviously That version of the game never came out, and thus we kept Ness. Seeing that Mother 3 is now out in Japan on the GBA and he plays nearly the same as Ness it's very likely that, because it had originally been their plan all along, that he's gone for good. There was a lot of other stuff, but I can't think of it all and I don't remember where the pages were... I'll find a link soon though if anyone really wants it. (If I can remember that is. xp ) I absolutely guarantee that Falcon will be in Brawl. I don't believe any of the original twelve will be cut.
Why would they swap Ness for Lucas now though? Lucas hasn't had ny game released outside of Japan, while Ness has enjoyed international success. Plus Sakurai said he didn't want to put too much emphasis on Japan only characters. Replacing a veteran with a Japan only character is definitely too much emphasis.

A lot of people are saying PK Love but I have no Idea That must be the default favorite thing in MOTHER 3. In EarthBound, it was Rockin' (Mine was Gaming ninja ) which ended up being the most powerful attack in the game at it's Omega level.

What the heck?! confused You think that them getting one character is too much? From the entire multitude of games that have never been released outside of there? You know, because the inclusion of Marth and Roy in Melee didn't get the Fire Emblem series to come outside of Japan... oh wait... stare Anyway, he's been catering to the US with a lot of the characters and such, and it's really unfair to not include anything for them. We even got Lyn (from Fire Emblem) as an Assist Trophy, despite the fact that in Japan she's nearly considered a detested character. Meanwhile, in the US she is amongst the most favored of the main characters. And she's not just a crappy AT either, according to the people who went to E for All she was the only one amongst the set that were included in the demo that seemed to be unstoppable, she does crazy damage and send opponents flying. So, really, please explain how one or two characters that are Japan only is "way too much emphasis" when the character that'd be getting replaced with would be nearly a clone. Also, international success? Earthbound? Sure, a big sleeper hit, but it sold nothing even remotely comparable to Mario or anything like that, it's sales kind of sucked, actually. sweatdrop To Sauvie: Well, it's a new character, there's obviously going to some differences if he does replace Ness. It's not like when they replaced Ocarina Link with Twilight Princess Link where it's mostly minor tweaks. Also, remember, thi9s is a new game. A lot of characters will play differently, especially since everything seems to be slowed down a little.

My thoughts on the Lucas/Ness debate still stand with the fact that in his update Sakurai question, "Is it possible he can surpass even Ness?!" That making me think people will be able to finally decide this for themselves. (Like the Mario vs Sonic thing)
I think Ness will be there.

Oh yeah I saw that on gonintendo a few days ago. I think that she will be. Sauvie brought up a good point saying that she is the only Starfox character who doesn't use guns, ext. I can see her as being playable.

I didn't say it didn't help the localization, but then again, Marth and Roy didn't replace anyone.
I can't argue with FE, because I haven't played any of them. I'll take your word for it that everybody for some reason hates Lyn.
Actually, it was a smash hit in Japan, and it sold fairly well in the US because of it's extensive promotion in Nintendo Power.
