If it's making noise- it's probably not a virus unless it's an actual digitally created sound. Then that's just weird...
It's probably your laptop is overheating. The fan or disk drive (or both) are working in overtime is sounds like. I'd make sure you don't have disk in the drink and if you don't I'd turn off your laptop for a while (like an hour or something) and make sure the bottom of it get's air when you use it. (putting it on blankets kills it...)
