Kevin nodded. Six hours of shut up and listen. "I'm nervous," he said.
He gave another nod. "Alright. They'll think you're like James Bond or something." He took another bite of his sandwich. "You'll help me with homework?"

"Everyone is. You go to school five years and are worried about the next three, and then you're worried about the next four, and then you're worried about college. You're not alone. Besides, you'll probably be starting as a freshman so nobody will have any idea what they're doing."
He chuckled then and nodded. "Sure. I can take lunch later."

"I've never been to school. Do you think I'll be caught up?" He asked. Kevin looked concerned. What if he didn't fit in? He'd never had to worry about that before. What if he was behind?
He finished his sandwich and studied Toby. "Not today," he said. "When I start! What else do you want for lunch?"

"No, no, I know. I'm on lunch now. I mean when you have homework." He shook his head at Kevin and smiled. "Nah. honestly you're already ahead in a lot of areas, plus a lot of kids are total idiots anyway."

"Really? And you want me to spend time with them?" Kevin looked slightly sceptical. "I guess I can handle it, as long as they're not all like that." He smiled then. "I'm glad I decided to come here," he said.

"Oh, I didn't say they weren't good people, school just isn't where everyone excels," Toby amended. "You'll only really have to spend time with people you want to, and if you get a group project. In that case we'll probably personally drive you to the meeting place so nobody shows up in a tinted military van. Unless that's somehow necessary."
He nudged Kevin with a finger then.
"So am I, kid." The nickname came with a warm tone.

Kevin smirked. "It'd make a good entrance," he said. "I think I'd like you to take me to school," he added. He finished his sandwich, set his plate down and looked to Toby. "I want to work here someday," he said.

"That could be hard, but I'll do it as often as I can." To get to HQ, pick Kevin up, and get him to school at 7 was a stretch at best, but he didn't want to disappoint.
"Yeah? What do you want to do?" He leaned back, ready to listen.

"Never," Toby replied with a nod. There really wasn't any 'mildly unseelie;' you either were or you weren't. Even Kevin was all unseelie, even as gentle as he had become.
"I think you can do anything you set your mind to. You have a few years, though. You have to be the equivalent of about thirty years old in human years to sign up. About. Some a little earlier."

The maturity level of thirty? That seemed so far away. "That'll take forever," he said. "But I guess I'll be in school until about then, anyway. And then I can help you?"

"It'll be here faster than you know it. Enjoy your youth while you can!" His youth had blasted by so quickly, yet he remembered having wanted to grow up faster as a child. It was funny how time worked.
"I'm sure you could. You'll need to go to college, though, if you want to work here... or the equivalent, so on and so forth. They've made a lot of exceptions over the years. Dari's one of them."
