Aaaaaaand

DONE

and DONE!
Now on to getting more stuff done.
xd And honestly, I have rarely, if ever seen any comic do what
One Piece does on a regular basis: it makes you remember why you started reading comics in the first place. It's up there with the likes of
Green Arrow: Quiver, Ennis and Dillon's maniacal first run on
The Punisher, and just about anything Brian Michael Bendis decides to touch for more than ten seconds.
One Piece is exciting, never cloying, and actually makes you like and care about the characters.
Battle Royale, while well-done, is a shocking, schlocky piece of silly that only lasts as long as the reader's desire to see just how ridiculous the next scene of brutality is, while
Lone Wolf and Cub,
Mugen no Juunin/Blade of the Immortal,
Vagabond, and
Berserk all have a bit of class and/or style (along with a POINT) to their graphic content.
Then again, there's a lot of American comics, like
The Authority, which are incredibly graphic and over-the-top, and are just so ******** RIGHT that way.
xd Edit: The MAX releases of
The Punisher are some of the most brutally violent, yet thought-provoking comics I have ever read. You get to see Frank do horrible, horrible things to people, and yet it somehow makes you not feel bad that these things are happening--while keeping the mood extremely serious and grim.
