It wasn't a terrible idea. "We could introduce him to a few people," Maia said. She didn't entirely agree with tricking Cody. He'd gone months thinking his boyfriend was human, and that'd gone badly when he'd finally found out. At first, at least.
She looked to Toby. "When are you going to tell Kevin? He'll be excited!"

"I'm just worried that if Michael finds out, even if I tell him, he'll go all revenge-scary on him," Dari admitted. He turned then to Toby, realizing that the discussion was probably over.
"I don't know," Toby replied. "Tomorrow?"

"He won't, I'll ask Kevin to distract him," Maia offered. Michael had known she was afraid. He'd been quite kind, really, in hindsight. She knew how scary Michael could be.
"Tomorrow sounds good. Going to his apartment?" She asked. Or were they taking the kelpie out?

Dari nodded. He wasn't sure Kevin could do that.
Toby shrugged. "I don't know. What do you think? He could always come for another sleep-over. I feel like he might want to."

"He'd like that," Maia smiled. "We could buy popcorn, maybe have a movie night?" She gave Toby's hand a squeeze. "I bet he'll want to help make dinner, too."

"Sure," Toby said with a smile, "I'm sure he will. You know, he's getting pretty good..."
Dari smiled to himself. This family was growing, and to listen to Toby you'd never know he had once spouted his hatred for teenagers.

Maia smiled. "He's doing much better than Luca," she said, and wrinkled her nose playfully. "Maybe we should ask Kevin if he'll teach Luca how to use an oven."

"He might be a little hardcore for Luca," Toby teased. He wondered how Kevin would do with a frustrating student.

Maia just smiled. "You might be right," she said. She could imagine Kevin getting frustrated at Luca fairly quickly.

It was the next day at lunch that Toby decided to pay Kevin a visit. Being unable to find him in the cafeteria, he instead headed for the boy's apartment and knocked on the door.

What? Who would visit at lunch time? Kevin opened the door and peered out. He smiled when he saw Toby. "Hey!" He greeted. "I'm making toasted cheese. Want one?"

"Hey! Uh. Sure." Why not? He had his lunch box packed already, but he'd rather enjoy some time with Kevin than worry about his sandwich getting soggy.
He went to the kitchen after Kevin to watch him cook. "How's your day so far?"

Kevin smiled at him, taking out some some cheese from the fridge. "Good! I'm playing a game where this boss is a giant jelly fish and it kills me in two hits! Completely unfair. Jellyfish don't even have brains!"

"But what's more dangerous than something instinctual, hm? It can't discern right from wrong," Toby said. He leaned against the wall to stay out of Kevin's way. "You know, Dari's named after a jellyfish. That's pretty much my fault."

Kevin paused, looking thoughtful. "You're right," he agreed. "I'm glad I'm not like that anymore," he added, and turned on the stove. He buttered the pan. "I like Dari's name."
