LunaInverse Shoujo Phoenix Neuroscience involves studying the brain, basically. My favorite part of psychology happens to be biopsychology (basically studying how the brain biology has an effect on psychological states)...which is why I chose to persue neuroscience. 4laugh And thanks. I remember studying Neuropsych in my Intro to Psych class, but my strengths were always more towards the counseling aspect of psychology. I didn't know you were studying psych. I got my BA back in 2001. If you need any help, let me know. I was thinking about it for a good while.. I do well to just let people talk and then try to interpret (I actually do this a lot in casual conversation), but I wonder if my interps. come more from society/environmental influence? I haven't tried psych. in college, just in high school and it was pretty fun, but just sociology. Pretty interesting stuff.. I imagine that I'll be integrating that sort of thing into whatever job I end up picking.. I'm currently going for a Mass Communications and East Asian Studies degrees... However, I do love psychology movies. I generally term them the ones that are complex and require lots of thought. "Silence of the Lambs," maybe a bit.. but I thought the scary movie, "Identity," about multi-personality disorder was an interesting one...

LunaInverse hollywood_addict Wow, that's crazy! How do restaurant owners get away with not really paying their workers minimum wage? What would happen if the waiter/waitress got no tips? Actually, if our combined wages and tips don't equal out to at least minimum wage, the restaurant has to make up the difference in our paychecks. In most restaurants and bars I've either worked in or went to, bartenders make a higher wage than servers, but still less than minimum wage. For example, in my restaurant: Servers = $2.63 + tips Bartenders = $4.50 + tips Minimum wage for servers varies from state to state. Florida servers make $1.75 + tips. I think Connecticut servers make $4.50 - $5.00 an hour. I should work in CT, but paying taxes in two states sucks. I guess that's the hard spot our country's facing.. everyone likes to save money and we like things cheap, so we import a lot from China as they sell cheaper goods... but at that expense, our jobs at home are reduced (ie: waitressing) at the price of competing with low prices for consumers.. it's a tough issue.. I don't really know what we can do to fix it all... but I wish I could think of something...then, of course, I'd probably want to become a senator or politician or something...

3.14 Oh man. My brother's room is SO dirty--he has MICE in his room! My cats caught a mouse right outside of his room this morning. My Mother was so pissed, she spent most of the morning yelling at him--which is why I am up and EIGHTFREAKINTHIRTY. How did that happen? Did he leave lots of food in there? In my grandma's house sometimes, we get ants in, and the seem to be attracted to fruit?

Dr. Fomite hollywood_addict You do veternary work, right? So what do people usually book for on a typical day? Check ups, or more neutring/spaying, out of curiousity? I rarely go to vets as usually it's just daily checkups and shots that we do maybe once a year or every 2.. or are there as many injuries or very serious stuff for pets (ie: deworming, cancer?) as they have on E.R.? Akimbo-san had me watch it again the other night, and I was floored with how many people (if it's accurate) and for different injuries that they receive... I hope work gets better for you, too.. but I hope that although it's hard work, that it is rewarding for you in the end, too (which is why I'm going to school so I'm not at ie: K-Mart for 20 years or something to make ends meet, and work goes unappreciated).. It's a pretty mixed bag. Usually upward of half the appointments are vaccines & annual wellness exams, but it varies pretty widely day by day. We have one doctor (out of three) doing surgery every morning for most of the morning, usually spays and neuters, along with a handful of mass removals, biopsies, declaws, etc. Saturday, I had all vaccines, nail trims, and wellness exams, plus one dog that had a corneal ulcer (eye injury). Friday, though, I had a lot of vaccines/wellness exams (along with a lot of a**l sac expressions, nail trims, and people who wanted to discuss weight management & allergies), and some more serious cases like a dog in end-stage liver failure, a few dogs with vomiting/diarrhea (probably viral). I've seen a fair number of cancer cases so far, a GDV (bloat), a lot of traumatic injuries (dog fight wounds, lacerations, hit by car, etc.), a few other liver cases, a number of animals with pancreatitis, some anti-freeze & rodenticide poisonings, a lot of diabetics, and quite a few cases of kidney failure. Also a lot of fleas/mites/lice, and eye stuff. So it's a pretty good mixture. It is generally rewarding, though it can be depressing at times. Working in a low income area means a lot of people can't afford to do as much for their animals as might be in their best interest, and I've had to euthanize a few animals with treatable diseases. On the other hand, there are more happy endings for pets and owners, so it balances out. heart [/longwinded gonk ] Wow, it sounds like pets can have just as many problems as people! Do you think it's because people have altered the environment and technology so much or have they always had this many complex ones?

Tzrakz Tzrakz Hold on I'll bring up the article 3nodding "Christmas joy" was provided to the residents of the Christian Manor apartments in the form of a saxophone quartet on Saturday, December 17th. Four young men from Hendersonville High School's Marching Band performed elegantly, playing carols to everyone's pleasure. Under the name of the "Jazz Four Quartet", the lads are Erich Dison who plays Tenor, !!!!!!(Clinton Collins)!!!!!!!=ME! smile and Josh Edmiston on Alto, and Brian Robinson on Baritone. They have been entertaining throughout the community recently at such places as the Holiday Fest hosted by the GFWC Women's Club at Historic Rock Castle, and the Publix Holiday Festival. Two of the boys grandmothers reside at the complex: Jean Sumner and Peggy Hamby. Delicious refreshments, provided by the residents, were enjoyed by all. (I would post the pic, but I lost my GIMP, and I have to resize it:/) Congrats! biggrin
