Streamjumper hollywood_addict Streamjumper hollywood_addict Also, on another note, does anyone know what kind of jobs offer tip money in addition to salary -- other than selling one's body? My job really sucks and gives me like 9 hours a week, and I need to make some money so I can reduce my loans to study abroad in Japan... Thanks Hollywood, I reccomend just using the quote button above posts. It makes a neater and easier to read quote as part of the php forum base that Gaia runs on. But the more acceptable tip jobs are restaurant service (not counter service, which is pretty cheesy to ask tips for, but actual waiting or bussing tables), hairdressing, bellhops, and cab drivers. The down side with tip jobs is that a slow day will earn you next to nothing, and you can also bust your a** only to get gypped by cheap tippers. Thanks for the notes. I'm really slow with gaia still (first year)... Also, what is a bellhop and next to nothing? Currently, I'm working minimum wage, for MNans, it's $6.15/hour.. do you think they'd get more hours than 9/week? Doomo arigatoo gozaimasu Don't worry about it. Gaia's posting tools will come to you with ease after just a little. Bellhops are the guys at hotels and airports who help you with your baggage. They traditionally get tipped by how much luggage they help you with as well as how helpful they are. And by next to nothing: Here in Mass the minimum wage is something like 6.25 an hour. If you are a waiter or waitress however, your restaurant can reduce your pay to as little as 2.50 and hour or so to account for tips being part of your pay. You'll usually make just enough to make up the difference even on a bad day though. The problem is that on days where very few customers come in or you get stiffed by a couple of cheap pricks, you're earning very little. My fiance, Luna currently waits and she can make anywhere between 80$ for a good dinner shift on a friday or really busy wednesday and as little as 20$ on a bad lunch... in tips. And she busts her a**. Wow, that's crazy! How do restaurant owners get away with not really paying their workers minimum wage? What would happen if the waiter/waitress got no tips?

Shoujo Phoenix hollywood_addict What are your majors and minors, why, and where are you all going to college? My current major is just psychology, but after I get my BA in psych in two years, I will be going on to some form of neuroscience. I currently go to California State University Northridge. surprised What's neuroscience? It sounds really challenging, so I completely applaud you for it. My math skills are terrible, which I've heard psychology requires a bit of science/math talent (for awhile I thought I was going into psych., too -- all career tests I take tell me to be a psychologist), and I wish they were better so I could work at a movie theatre... Congrats on being ambitious and committing to going to school for many years!! What do you like best about psychology?

Streamjumper Dr. Fomite Work was awful yesterday. gonk Slow in the morning, and insanely busy in the afternoon. We were totally overbooked and since I was alone, there was no way to cover the slack. Had way too many patients with big problems, new work ups, and people who wanted a lot of things done. sweatdrop I'm really hoping today goes better. As for tipping jobs... Stream mentioned a bunch... Bartending is another really good one if you can get it. Tends to pay off quite well in the tips. I hope your day today goes a hell of a lot better too. An overworked Mala is not a truly happy Mala. I didn't mention bartending because it isn't exactly your average entry-level position, and in many states you need to be at least 21 to do it, which I'm not sure if Hollywood is. But the tips are incredible. So do you bartend? I'm going to turn 21 in June... do they pay minimum wage + tips or do they reduce the salary to account for them? My step-brother owns a bar, which could be interesting in a few years... any idea if they have rules for harassment regarding customers? I always wondered at the things one must learn to work there?

Dr. Fomite hollywood_addict Wow, it sounds like you're very ambitous. Good for you! Glad to see you like animals, too. I have 2 kitties, 2 goldfish, and a dog at home.. Do you have any pets? Hope work goes okay for you.. when I cashiered, and everyone called in sick, it was insane.. hopefully, it won't be the same at your work... Also, on another note, does anyone know what kind of jobs offer tip money in addition to salary -- other than selling one's body? My job really sucks and gives me like 9 hours a week, and I need to make some money so I can reduce my loans to study abroad in Japan... Thanks Yeah, definite animal lover. whee I've got a dog, a cat, and a wee kitten. (If you find the "Pictures of Stuff" thread in the guild, I've got some pictures of them posted.) No fish for me. I like them, but I wouldn't trust the cat. gonk I'd really like to have a reptile, most likely an iguana, but I just haven't the space to do it the way I'd want to, yet, and it's awfully cold here at times and it'd be hard to prevent one from getting chilled. Work was awful yesterday. gonk Slow in the morning, and insanely busy in the afternoon. You do veternary work, right? So what do people usually book for on a typical day? Check ups, or more neutring/spaying, out of curiousity? I rarely go to vets as usually it's just daily checkups and shots that we do maybe once a year or every 2.. or are there as many injuries or very serious stuff for pets (ie: deworming, cancer?) as they have on E.R.? Akimbo-san had me watch it again the other night, and I was floored with how many people (if it's accurate) and for different injuries that they receive... I hope work gets better for you, too.. but I hope that although it's hard work, that it is rewarding for you in the end, too (which is why I'm going to school so I'm not at ie: K-Mart for 20 years or something to make ends meet, and work goes unappreciated)..

My favorite part of psychology happens to be biopsychology (basically studying how the brain biology has an effect on psychological states)...which is why I chose to persue neuroscience. 4laugh And thanks.

That stuff is a mix of dead skin cells, dirt, sweat, and skin oil, among other things... and then it accumulates in a moist, warm place and gets to stew for hours at a time... How could it not stink?
