Dr. Fomite Streamjumper Dr. Fomite Work was awful yesterday. gonk Slow in the morning, and insanely busy in the afternoon. We were totally overbooked and since I was alone, there was no way to cover the slack. Had way too many patients with big problems, new work ups, and people who wanted a lot of things done. sweatdrop I'm really hoping today goes better. As for tipping jobs... Stream mentioned a bunch... Bartending is another really good one if you can get it. Tends to pay off quite well in the tips. I hope your day today goes a hell of a lot better too. An overworked Mala is not a truly happy Mala. I didn't mention bartending because it isn't exactly your average entry-level position, and in many states you need to be at least 21 to do it, which I'm not sure if Hollywood is. But the tips are incredible. heart Managed to get 17 patients in and out in a timely manner this morning. @_@ Fortunately, nothing terribly time-consuming came in and we only had one emergency among the scheduled appointments, so it was a lot smoother and less stressful. Now I just need to get caught up on all those records... Yeah, that's why I included the "if you can get it" part... I'm not sure about the age thing either. I've known a few people who've gotten into it with little to no training, but yeah, not as easy to get in on an entry-level basis. But still, figured it was worth mentioning for sheer goodness of tips. (My grandmother was a bartender for most of her life until her health forced her into retirement. ) In most places, you need to be 18 to serve alcohol (It always makes me laugh...21 to drink, but you can serve it at 18...). You CAN go to school for bartending, but many bartenders start out working in restaurants as servers, and eventually train on bar. Hell, I can make a mean Manhatten if I put my mind to it. As far as I'm concerned, that kind of training is better than anything you get in a school, since you learn how to tend bar, not just make drinks.

I just had an 'end of the world' dream. It was really sappy so I will make it small. I was at work, and the computer system crashed. So after, the lights went out. [My work is on the second floor, so we can't really see what is going on underneath outside.] We waited about 5 minutes, and all of a sudden these helicopters showed up in the window--and I noticed it was raining. They announced over a loudspeaker:
"We know it's cold and you won't have time to get your coats but you have to come with us NOW."
And everybody started running, and knocked me over along with everything on my desk. I scrambled around to try and find my cell phone because all I could think of was getting ahold of Josh. My Mom and my friend [who also work with me] were trying to pull me away but I finally found my phone. When we got up, everybody was gone so we were left in the building. My phone didn't have a signal, so I couldn't call Josh.
We walked downstairs, except this time some Arabian named 'Jaaheeb' was with us. When we looked out the window it looked like chaos. There were big waves crashing everywhere, and fires...and Jaaheed started to cry so I comforted him. So, we heard somebody call from upstairs:
"Is anybody still here?"
So we ran upstairs, and suddenly there was this...deck thing we could run down. As I was running, my phone started to ring Josh's ring so I answered it.
[this is where is gets really sappy] J: Is it still crazy there? It's died down here. M: What is going on! Josh! J: Don't worry. M: Josh, I love you! J: I know, I can feel it. M: What is going on! Please tell me what is going on!
And I kept yelling that until I woke up, with my phone in my hand...
