Cynder, since I know you like CCGS, I highly reccomend that you check out one called Pirates of the Spanish Main. The packs go for 4 bucks, you can play with one for each player for a small game, it easily scales up to a bigger game, balances nicely, and you don't use decks.
The cards you get in the pack are thin plastic kinda like an ATM card. Each pack includes two pairs of cards that you punch different parts out of to make little model ships, with the rest of the cards you got the parts from containing the stats for the ships (movement rate, cargo capacity, cannon ranges and power, number of masts/hp, special abilities). Distances are measured using the lengths of the short side of the card and/or the long side of the card. You each place your home base on the table, and place several islands at least 3 long sides away from your bases and 2 long from each other. You then place treasure tokens face down on the islands, put your ships around your base with special crew (ships and crew are measured in points), and set out to grab the treasure from the islands. You don't look at the value of the treasure (and thus points) til you reach the island to take it and can only as many tokens as your ships cargo can handle, which is also eaten up when you take special crew.
There's rules for ship to ship combat, ramming, broadsides, taking over the other players ships rather than sinking them, taking crew hostage (for ransome), terrain like fog banks and sargasso, and unique treasures... along with other things... and the ships look pretty cool for two inch replicas made from 8-10 parts.
