It is extremely good. With it, I can run pretty much anything ever. And I just got my monitor today, it is absolutely gorgeous.
Unfortunately, I cannot download the Internet onto it.

That's cool. No internets is a bummer though.
What's your opinion on refurbished computers? I've seen them for sale at retailers with massively superior specs to the originals but it's like there's some taboo around them or something.

Hmm...depends on how much you trust the retailer. On the one hand, with massively better specs, that's more power for your spending ability. On the other, you run the risk of defective parts (even refurb'd, there is some damage you just can't take away. CPU overheats being a major one, and general component age for all parts).
If you trust the seller and can get some kind of 'equal or better in case of sucky parts' warranty, I'd say go for the refurbished one. If you can't get some sort of warranty, I'd say stay away unless you trust this seller with your entire wallet (because you practically are).
And failing that, if you feel up to building a computer from scratch, it would only take a few hours to price out some stuff. Depends on what you use it for, of course.

Anyone bought anything interesting on the Steam sales? I've bought a few multiplayer games to play with the Doc - Terraria, Castle Crashers and Monaco... omg, all such good games =w= Unfortunately his computer isn't up to much aside from Terraria. If anyone wants to hit me up in Monaco or CC just let me know :3

I didn't even know you had a Steam account, I'd be down for some Terraria any time ( a wild profile page appeared). Awesomenauts (A 2D MOBA. Think League of Legends but with less serious and more holographic cows) is also a good multiplayer game that should run just fine on your computer. I also picked up Metro Last Light and Bioshock Infinite during the sale. Spent more than I had wanted...but...it's Metro. And Bioshock. And I can actually run them properly now.

Welcome back, Rocket. mrgreen
Congrats on the first kiss. Is there any interesting story behind it you want to share? Or would you prefer to leave it as "it happened"?

Natural slowdown, I guess. Oh right. I started college a month ago. Now I'm getting all nostalgic about this place and how I would post like mad using my old refurb-junker comp. Man, everything was different when I was going into 9th grade. Now here I am, sippin on some good root beer as an essay deadline approaches and playing Awesomenauts. The music is good, the soda is fine, and it's finally under 85F outside so I can stop getting heatstroke.

Cornell College in Iowa. Not exactly my first choice, but when they come calling with a great scholarship and my first choice turns me down, it's pretty tempting.
Now I get to stop selling my soul at a 9-5 and start selling it to the codegods. CS ftw.

@Mabo: Cornell, huh? Nice. I'm pretty sure that's one of the colleges that my work focuses its college recruitment from... Speaks for its CS department.
@Lorika: ...um... actually, I'm not sure what to say to that. "cat claims pizza"?
