Donovan was sitting near the door watching the storm brew, he had been waiting for the two to come back when he noticed it was coming. If it was anything like last time he hoped the two would make it back soon. It hailed the last time they were there.

Serenity wasted no time reverting to her own form, and she ran immediately for the house, checking over her shoulder to make sure Kara was following.
A moment later, there was another flash of lightning, forked lightning that struck something nearby. Almost simultaneous was another crack of thunder that rolled for nearly five seconds.

Kara rushed in after Serenity and nearly jumped out of her skin as the thunder crashed. It made her feathers really ruffle out, making her wings all puffy like.

He was there to watch the two woman hurry in, Donovan rose from his seat like a great cat stalking his prey as he quietly stepped behind Kara. His arms surrounded her as he moved to pull her close.
"Took you long enough, the kids are playing by the couch, hopefully they haven't taken it apart yet."

To be strictly true, Skye was sitting beneath the couch and watching Miyu play - she had started out playing with her cousin, but as the storm had approached her ears had hurt her, and even now that Ulani had given her some maple sugar candies to suck on, she was more interested in making the pain go away and stay away than she was in playing anymore.

Serenity brushed past Kara and Donovan and smiled at Skye and Miyu, and headed into the kitchen in search of Ulani.

Kara rolled her eyes a bit, knowing how Donovan was, but it was becoming a very bad storm out, so she couldn't blame him.
"I wanted to see the swishing sounds," she told him looking up, "Now... I need to go check on the girls."
While Miyu was kind of playing she was also every once in a while trying to draw Skye out. She even tried to use one of her loose wing feathers to tickle the other girl, which wasn't really working at the moment.

Donovan slowly let his arms dropped escorting her to the children, "They're fine... well except Skye's ears are bothering her," he frowned, "She does mildly better when she sucks on candy, it's like her ears are trying to pop."

Skye finished the last of her supply of candies and stuck her finger in her mouth and sucked on it instead. She stared up at Kara, her eyes wide, misting over, though she wasn't letting herself cry. Her ears were pulsing, throbbing, and every once in a while she let out a little whimper.
She felt Miyu brushing a feather against her foot and looked over at her cousin, but all she did was wiggle her toes a bit. She didn't want to play. Not while she felt like this.

Kara bent down to pick Skye up trying to get her mind off of what was happening, it did seem like that. She rubbed Skye's temples a bit, but pressure couldn't be cured as easily. Painkillers wouldn't work unless you wanted to make her dowsy, and that wouldn't be any good.
Miyu looked up at her grandmother wondering what was wrong with her cousin, her cousin just seemed so unhappy.

Skye put her arms around Kara's neck and rested her head on her shoulder. It was getting worse again, the pain - the storm was still building, furious as it already was.

"I'm not sure what to do," Kara admitted to Donovan, 'That won't involved dosing her to the point where she would be dowsy, which wouldn't be good otherwise."
It seemed like the child was just incredibily sensitive, which didn't help Kara into figuring out what to do.

"Well the storm goes nearly as quickly as it comes, but chances are we might be up half the night if that's the case," he murmured as he moved to check Skye.
He put his fingers on either side of her jaw feeling up to her ears. Normally the body should be able to adjust after a while to a chance in air pressure, it was like she couldn't though. He felt around for a hankerchief.

At first Skye squirmed and tried to push Donovan's hands away from the area where it already hurt so much - but then she realized that he was making it feel better, and she let him keep doing what he was doing. She closed her eyes and pressed her face closer into Kara's neck for comfort, though there was little comfort to be found even like that. Her wings, for the first time, were completely motionless - even moving them added to her pain.

"I think she likes what you're doing," Kara replied gently as she watched Skye, but she knew Donovan couldn't keep it up forever, and really he was just checking.
